  1. Hi All, This might not be related to this forum however just want to know if anyone knows anything about cruises outside of Australia (Sydney to South pacific). My mum is currently in Australia on tourist visa 600 with 8558 condition which lets her stay 12 months in Australia in 18 months period. From my understanding if shes goes out of the country during the 12 months period she can stay those number of days more in Aus. E.g. if she arrived in Australia on 1st May 2019 she should leave Aus on or before 30th April 2020. Now if we plan a cruise for 10 days to the south pacific will she be able to stay in Aus until 10th May 2020? Is it how this works? And if the south pacific cruise which is in the international waters considered her time out of Australia? Any help would be appreciated.

  3. Thanks AMP, that's really handy if there is no minimum out of Aus stay requirement. Staying away for 6 months seems to be a long time with parents. The most vulnerable I would say.. Does anyone knows if there is a way to get that condition (8558) waived if we have applied for 143 and waiting??
  4. Hi AMP, that is indeed very lucky as I have only heard that on 600 you get 3 years visa with multiple entries (apologies I do have heard about it...I reckon its for people who are in the parent visa queue where 600 can be for 5 years validity) my question is more regarding the minimum outside stay Could you please advise if there is a requirement on how many months do you have to be away from Australia to come back for another 12 months as you mentioned you had a brief return to the UK...
  5. Hi @Jellybean T, I reckon we both are sad to see this happening for any parents. And now when you have shed more light on the cost of residential care in UK to be so high I am more inclined to think she would have been better off applying for a contributory visa only if she had the opportunity.
  6. Agreed to all, rules are rules and if they were just taking a chance. Its unfortunate that this has happened but realistically parents will not be getting any younger and healthier which concerns us as sons-daughters who lovingly want their parents to be with them. Out of curiosity if she would have applied for a contributory parent visa in few years of her stay or maybe even last year when her health was getting rally bad. Would the immigration be treating her case as the same? or is just because they are not going to get enough fees as the contributory applicants they are going to be so harsh on her. i know medical test results would have been the same but still she was going to pay huge fees and AOS.
  7. try typing something in the subject line e.g. Subclass 143 or something. I found that sending a blank subject line and nothing in the body of the email does not get any response
  8. Sorry but this is really confusing to me. if she has 3 months only then how come she can stay for 12 months from each arrival.
  9. Yup I meant the same with the visitors visa..is yours a 3 years multiple entry with 12 months stay each arrival within 18 months period or just 3 months max stay?
  10. Congrats that's great to hear. Is it a 3 years validity visa?
  11. I am in a different situation altogether and not sure if I should apply for 870. I have my mum here in Aus on 600 and her visa condition must arrive after 29/09/2020. So if I plan it correctly and send her back 6 months prior to that date ie.e March 2020 and have her stay away for 6 months I can call her here for another 12 months if I get her here before 29 Sept 2020. - Am I correct?? and If so I will get another 12 months before I should even consider 870 and by 2021 her CPV 143 should have made a bit more closer to processing, having all fingers crossed (CPV 1st VAC paid on 16th Sept 2017) Is it correct to interpret this or am I missing something or if someone can advise if there is a better way to look at this.
  12. that's good info regarding the queue of 38000. how & where can I check that info from?
  13. 870 haven't started yet, see Alan Collett post on this page just after my query. they have only started taking sponsorship applications for now and applications will start after 1st july 2019. So not sure how long it will take to process that. Alternatively, you can think of a 600 tourist visa and request for a 3 year tourist visa which lets your mother-in-law stay for 12 months in 18 months period. And thats the issue with that as she will need to travel after 12 months for 6 months but the processing and fees of it is less that 870.
  14. So now when the elections are over, has anyone applied for Subclass 870 the temp long stay parent visa which was a talk of the town for almost 4 years. With its exorbitant fees is this visa category having its own quota or affecting the parent visa category quota?
  15. thanks @Jellybean T & @Sharad Guru it means that the email response is not updated regularly.
  16. Recent update from the parents email is stating as Jul 2015 for 143 and last updated 3/04/2019. Its been showing July 2015 for the last few months now. Does anyone know if someone has applied after Jul 2015 and received any further requests from Immi? and its just that the automatic email response dates havent been updated
  17. Hi @Doris please keep us updated with the outcome of your application (600) for your Mum.
  18. Was that a new tourist visa application or an extension on existing one?
  19. Does anyone know if we can apply for a new tourist subclass 600 visa even when there are few months still remaining on the active valid tourist subclass 600 visa?
  20. Good news for anyone who is wondering if the concession for longer stay with the current tourist visa subclass 600 conditions will change after the commencement of 870, this has now been clarified by David Coleman and also updated on the website source - sbs.com.au https://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/hindi/en/article/2019/03/14/immigration-minister-quashes-fear-about-changes-existing-visitor-visa screenshot of updated content on the homeaffairs website.
  21. @Kathss56 thanks for bringing this to our attention. I just hope that the existing Visa holders will not be affected. Having said that does anyone knows if one already holds a subclass 600 can we apply again even though the validity of that visa hasn't expired?
  22. @amsaini15 fair enough mate, that's exorbitant though! But with those specific conditions I reckon one doesn't have much choice. I won;t be able to advise of any other providers as I am using just the basic standard atm. Yup we are almost in the same time frame I reckon so lets keep tracking. One thing I noticed though is that your first acknowledgement came through very quick compared to mine. It took more than 2 months before I got my first acknowledgement. And since then have not heard anything which also raises a question for everyone here, Did anyone got any email or correspondence after the 1st acknowledgement? As I have been sitting with no info asked/requested makes me wonder if my file is getting anywhere at all or is it with that timeline that we get is the time when they actually look into it for the first time?
  23. @amsaini15 Also my parents have 600 visa granted in Feb 2017. Do you think it will be a good idea to reapply for another 3 years considering there is a possibility this visa may not be available for parents anymore? Are we able to apply for this visa after 2 yrs of visa grant rather than wait for expiry? Thanks The tourist visa 600 is taking around 20-30 days to be granted so I reckon you should wait until dec 2019 to think what you need to do. Also, If you plan their stay in Australia very cautiously then you might just try and bring them in Aus just before Feb 2020 and they can stay the maximum time their visa allows. e.g. if their max stay is 12 months in 18 months period then plan it in a way that they are away for the 6 months just before feb 2020 and then when they enter australia before feb 2020 they can stay for another 12 months, provided their is a condition - "Must Not Arrive After" date is XX Feb 2020. Hope that makes sense.. I have insurance for my parents with Bupa but it is very expensive (recent increase takes it to $2000 per month). Interested in knowing which insurance others are are choosing. $2000 per month Is this a correct figure? I pay around $325 (which recently got increased from $288) for my in-laws per month with Bupa Standard Visitors Cover
