  1. If I was to guess, at least for TRT, I'd expect them to remain the same, as still seeing a lot of Feb application not even completed yet. Christmas slow down from the previous momentum for sure.
  2. Unless this a wind up (it isn't April fools yet) - Software Engineer is at least on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), this could indeed speed things up. Was this the first PR application in your company? Congrats anyway, lucky guy!
  3. I can also vouch for this, my boss who is in the same role, applied in October, approved in January. 186 TRT.
  4. There is a written statement in the VISA conditions for 186 TRT which states something along the lines of 'The employer agrees to keep the position open for 2 years, and the employee will remain in the position for 2 years' - however this is not law binding, and really only can come into question if there is proof you planned to leave once it was approved. Yes, you need to renew if it's after 1 year, some CO's can be lenient by a few months, but I wouldn't risk waiting, just causes further delays in an already slow process.
  5. I would say there is a number of High Risk Occupations that are given extra scrutiny - certainly there is faster processing on the point based VISA stream based on occupation, but on the TRT 186 at least, I think it's done in order of application, high risk occupations; Chef, Restaurant Manager, Hairdresser etc taking longer.
  6. You said before the average wait time was around 10 months - I'm now hoping with a further decline of 2 months on the Processing Times, we'll be looking at 8 Fingers crossed. A lot of CO staff free'd up with the 457 Applications pretty much finalized.
  7. Ahh yer, wait until you've got your PR before you officially change your name, not sure you have to announce you're married.. But again, not sure how they'd know either.
  8. But also remember, you must keep them informed with regards to Passport, name and address changes, or your VISA could be rejected. I believe they can process this within 5 working days... https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form-listing/forms/929.pdf
  9. I changed my address, as per required according to IMI site, is this likely to shift my application to the back of the queue?
  10. Anyone confirm if the TRT wait time has come down? The website hasn't been updated yet
  11. Will the CO's working on the 457's be re-allocated to 186 / PR VISA's? We had a 457 completed in our company, and he applied like 2-3 days before the deadline, so I think all applications should almost be finalized, other than the backlog of appeals.
  12. That's so rough, I've got a friend who's been contesting her rejection from a 417 WHV to 457 for over 2 years now... Fortunately, an org chart was included with my nomination, I've read of a lot rejections because this is missing. Hope you're more lucky second time round!
  13. Crazy that there was a few people getting there VISA's in March, when there's still many in Jan / Feb waiting. Makes me think, that on the TRT streams at least, with cases where there has been a previous nomination for the same occupation, in the same company, this can help stream line the process for the Department. My friend got his 186 TRT last month, applied in Feb, Nomination and VISA approved in the same day, the previous month, his friend after a longer wait got his 186 TRT in the same company, in the same position. Just a thought....
  14. Hi Guys, Silent reader for a while, please add me; Occupation: ICT Support Engineer State: NSW Birth Country: England Stream: 457 - 186 TRT (Grandfathering Arrangement) Number of applicants: 1 ENS 186 Visa and Nomination applied: 27/06/2018 IMMI Status: Received Seems the average wait time is around 7-8 months for most, when I applied (in June) the wait time was 12 months, what is the expectation for June applications?
