I think it will depend a lot on whether your are a citizen. If you hold a temporary visa then I think you are very unlikely to get an exemption fo rumour parents unfortunately.

I’ve just got an exemption to get back in based on critical skills (medical specialist) but it was hard fought. And contrasts to the press releases there are thousands of offshore people who have had exemptions rejected, for very compelling reasons.

Hope you get the answers and feel better soon

    Thanks. I’m a resident.

Can't see that you just wanting your parents here is a good enough reason for an exemption.

What's the reason?   It doesn't hurt to apply, the worst that can happen is they say no.  You are advised not to book any flights till you get the response and it takes 4 weeks.

Personally, although I'm sure you would love to have them here, I wouldn't be risking putting my parents on long haul flights at the moment

It's not just an off the cuff decision. I do have a medical reason and they would 100% take any risk to be with me as I have no family close by.

We've had two members get exemption to leave Australia but I can't remember who they were.  There's a lot of buzz about exemptions getting refused but actually, the majority of applications are approved - and if you are refused, there's nothing to prevent you making a new application, perhaps with better evidence.

Compassionate reasons need to be compelling, e.g. it seems that a lot of people get exemptions for the serious illness or death of a family member, but not for a wedding or a christening.

Hey Marisa, thanks for taking time to reply to me.

I'm looking for my parents to gain entry to Australia. Not for wedding or christening is understandable. What I find frustrating is an immediate family member is not parents 😞

Thank you Paul great to know

That’s no worries wonderingaloud as I wouldn’t be looking for any type of benefits or help from Centrelink. Husband works away and I don’t work so childcare is not an issue either

Hey Kym. I had my little girl 14 weeks ago, I don’t receive any paid parental leave but my partner did get dad/partner pay because he is an Aussie. It doesn’t effect your application as I was pregnant whilst waiting on mine. Good luck!x

    Hi there,

I lodged my PR in Feb this year (visa 186) and current processing time is 14-15 months. I am pregnant and due in May 2019, which would be the ‘15th month’ of visa processing so being realistic, there’s a chance I may not have PR by the time baby arrives.

I’m in full time work (457) and plan to be up until I give birth. Will I be entitled to the 18 week Centrelink maternity leave pay if I don’t have PR? I meet the other eligibility requirements online.

Will I also need to go for another medical examination after Feb 2019? I completed this in Feb this year and I hear they’re only valid for 12 months.

If anyone has had a similar experience, it would be great to hear from you and understand what happens. Thanks!

See below my comments, hope you already have answers

Hi There, did you get any reply or response for the question?

Hey! No you’re not eligible until you have held PR for 1 year prior to the child being born. My little girl is 14 weeks and these were the rules for me. As for the employer pay they can decide whether they will pay you or not, mines chose not too because they follow Centrelink rules (I’m the first ever pregnant employee so it was purely to get of paying me!) My friend I met on here was in the exact same situation. We both returned to work when our babies were very young. @Hayley1376

It means they are processing the nomination application. The will decide soon on the nomination. If approved, they will look into your visa application, unless they approve both together.

Nomination has just been approved. Medical and police check requested, luckily I done them earlier this week!!

    Yup, That's right.

It does not matter where/which city you have applied application form.

I applied from WA and my application was assessed in the Canberra office, Nomination received from QLD office and visa from NSW office.

I asked my MA and he said basically once you submit an application, your file float in immi system and any case officer can pick your file from any office. Every time any case office ask for further documents they release file in the system. Whereas it used to be when one case officer picks your file he/she has to finalise it. But now its different. Why? because every case officer assesses each application/document from a different angle and different point of view.   That's why some people wait more; after nomination approval than others.

    Thank you Deza!

If you already got the 187 permanent resident visa granted, you are obliged for working 2 years full time with your employer after granted. However do anyone still working even you get abuse, not getting superannuation paid for the last 18month, never get paid overtime (10-15 hours easily every week) and day in lieu (still working on public holiday) is anyone able to tell me the way out? Cause this is so frustrating...

That is called.... illegal, so you should report it and yes that would be compelling circumstance to leave that job but you should seek professional advice first.

Very lucky.... you shouldn't be frustrated after waiting as little as you have to hear from immi.

    Hi

I was in 489 Visa and applied for 887 visa when met the requirement, Meanwhile our baby was born outside Australia .We  came to know that the baby born outside can also be added to 887 visa application. As all the applicants should be present at the time of processing , how can I bring my baby to Australia?

Can I bring the newborn as Subsequent entrant in 489 visa as it is valid for one more year. Please advice me regarding this.

    Thanks in advance

Speak to your MA. No one else could answer that, it is too complex.

That’s absolutely disrespectful for people waiting longer. They have to review the way they work!

I agree completely but like @Marisawright said...... we need them more than they need us! It is so disheartening to hear people from 2018 having feedback from immi but please do remember there are others waiting longer than you too. (They might not necessarily be on this forum!)
