  1. My timeline is in my signature, but the nomination took roughly 4 months, PR came through a month after that. This was for an ICT Support role in VIC. Hopefully it shouldn't take much longer for you.
  2. Hi All, Golden email came through yesterday! Timeline is in my signature. 5.5 years in Australia. I've had to make a lot of sacrifices, from my first job getting up at 4AM to erect shelving in warehouses for hardly enough money to live off, to working on a crocodile infested fish farm and then carrying 100kg bunches of bananas in 40 degree QLD summer heat and then collapsing from heat stroke...all to get the chance to remain and live in this country. It's been exceptionally hard work, but I feel like I'm all the better for it. You don't truly appreciate something unless you've had to work hard and really earn it. I'd like to thank @Hex and all the people on this forum. Knowing that other people are in the same boat really helps you get through the waiting period. Good luck to all that are waiting for their visas.
  3. Hi All, My nomination was approved a month ago, no sign of the golden email yet though. How long would you say PR is taking on average after the nomination approval? It seems to consistently be around 1 month after from what I can see, but I thought I'd see what everyone else thought. Thanks
  4. Nomination approved yesterday for me. AFP request now. This is annoying as I'd asked my lawyers several times if I needed AFP clearance, and they said no! Still, I'm very happy that the nomination has been approved. Hopefully not too long to go after AFP document arrives.
  5. Hi Saugat, I'm in the exact same situation as you. 457 valid until Sept 2020, currently awaiting decision on TRT 186 application. I want to travel home for christmas this year. I called Dept of Immi last week, and also my MA. They both confirmed that my 457 is currently the visa I'm on. Your Bridging A visa does not become active until your 457 expires, assuming that your 186 application hasn't been decided by this point. The current travel conditions of your 457 are still valid. You can leave and enter Australia as much as you like. disclaimer: I'm not an MA, you are best double checking with Dept of Immi or your MA before travelling.
  6. thanks for that. my MA actually got back to me and confirmed this after my post. unfortunately my flights have now gone up $400 in the 5 days since I emailed him my query! oh well, still glad I can go home
  7. Hi all, I'm wanting to go home to the UK for 3 weeks over Christmas to visit family. My 186 TRT application was submitted on 04/07/19, it's current status is 'received'. My MA sent through the bridging type A notification shortly after. The status for this was 'inactive' when I received it. I'm not sure if this is still 'inactive'. My original 457 visa is valid until Sept 2020. I've read online about a bridging visa type B which would allow me to go home. Other websites/forums seem to indicate that this is a pretty standard thing to process. However, I read this thread nearly every day, and I seem to remember people being advised not to try to get a bridging visa type B due to the complications with the 457 application it can cause. Any advice relating to experience with this bridging visa would be helpful. I asked my MA a week ago regarding this and I am yet to receive a response! Thanks in advance. Big thanks to @Hex and the rest of the regular posters who help people with their visa issues on here. It's a massive help to have all of you here.
  8. I'm in the same situation as the poster here. Been on a 4 year long 457 for around 9 months. To go to PR do I need my employer to pay for it, or is it something I can do by myself and just get them to ok it? My employer already paid for my 457 and have me for 4 years, so I don't think there's much incentive for them to pay more cash just to move me to PR.
