Thanks for the reply to my post.  It's good news for my Son who intends to sponsor his fiancé once she's completed her Masters in May. He's already got PR and living in NSW, the past 9 months. I bet him $50 he needed to have lived here 2 years before he could sponsor her.  I lost, 🤣  Thanks once again for your help.

In which case there should be no issue at all, provided they meet all the relationship criteria.

I have done Bachelors in Computer Science and my wife is having Bachelors Degree in Bio Medical Engineering, for proofing competent English, she is having an equivalency certificate from her University. So, can you please confirm, if i am eligible for getting 5 points? If yes, how can I claim these 5 points? Do i need to file a separate skill assessment for her? Can you please tell the procedure. Thanks alot.

I suggest that you have a consultation with a registered migration agent to talk this through if it is unclear.

    • My partner nominated a suitable skilled occupation and obtained a positive skills assessment (that is not for a Subclass 485 visa)

So he's not an Australian citizen? He might have to rationalise his expectations. What does Holland have to offer its citizens? It's unfortunate when the elderly get fixated on one pathway and then lose the capacity to make rational decisions. He can certainly get in home care to support him in Australia even if he's not a citizen but he will have to pay, sometimes the elderly resent that but it is available to him.

As a rule, a Dutch citizen will lose Dutch citizenship if they voluntarily acquire citizenship of another country. Therefore, many Dutch migrants never become Australian citizens.

Also I believe there’s a long wait for such a visa, I’m not sure how long.

we estimate that Carer visa applications that meet the criteria to be queued are likely to take approximately 7 years to be released for final processing.” is the current spin from the Department.

    Hi Paul,

In a scenario where you have the following update in the last 1 week under 190 visa. is it normal especially when your medical will possibly need to be reviewed for Hep B medical condition? Whats the average wait time to have this status? Are you going to have the same information even if you don't meet health requirement?

I've looked through possible timeframe for people with medical condition to have the below status, but haven't really find any information regarding the timeframe.

I'll really appreciate if you have any information.

Examinations ready for assessment – no action required
The required health examinations have been completed and submitted by the panel clinic to the department. This person's case will be processed or referred to the department's migration medical services provider, Bupa Medical Visa Services, for further assessment.

It’s “normal” if there is an issue that needs to be referred for additional assessments and/or tests. They will contact you if there are matters that need to be resolved.

If I recall it is 12 months from your police check / medical whichever is earlier.  I put them all in at once and therefore had only 4 months to validate.

Do you have the option to put the police check & medical further on in the application then? Be a bit crazy if visa approved 11 or 12 months after these

It is now 12 months from grant …. but yes,  you can add them at any point. They will ask you for them if they are ready to make a decision and you haven’t yet provided them.

My reply wasn’t meant to be sarcastic (although it was short and to the point), I was just agreeing with you that the price quoted for assisting with an AITSL skills assessment seemed high. That should have been helpful in assessing whether you were getting value for money

I answer lots of questions here but as you said you already have a migration agent retained, my code of conduct doesn’t permit me to also advise you.

i guess my point was that if you have an agent retained, based on what they must be charging for the rest of the application, answering some basic questions on the skills assessment process for no, or a nominal, fee would be reasonable. It’s certainly what I would be doing for my clients if they do the skills assessment without me (which is actually what I generally suggest for AITSL).

Do the immigration officials inform you of this when you make the standard offshore application? There doesn't seem to be any other subclass for this scenario.

It’s all part of the same application. You apply for both visas (or stages) on the same form and they either grant one or both stages based on the circumstances.

Thank you for your reply. I will google ‘Yep …’ and see what comes up.

Hopefully i get a more positive answer.

"Yep" in the sense that this quote seems "a little excessive" to me as well, given that there is not much to an AITSL skills assessment. Your agent should be more than willing to answer your questions.

You aren't lying by not mentioning you had another relationship in the past with a break, you'd only be lying if you said it was 14 years together.

I think this is poor advice. It is a very bad idea to be economical with the truth.

I'll be on a 4 year sponsored visa but wonder how soon I could apply for PR?

Generally for an employer to sponsor you for PR on the TRT stream of the 186 permanent visa, you must have worked for them for 3 years.

I know over 45 it becomes difficult so time is key,

Unless you are in one of a fairly small number of exemption categories, over 45 is a deal breaker.

I suggest you get some professional advice to understand what may, or may not, be possible (even if this is somewhat far into the future).

Is it worth me submitting a second EOI for a 189

On the 491, I've entered the state only as Western Australia (my preferred state). I read it's better to select a single state rather than selecting 'Any'. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

    Absolutely and yes

    It must get recorded somewhere.

Otherwise how do they know they gave you a caution last time and this time need to throw the book at you.

It does and it will show on an ACRO subject access request.
