  1. Yes Linda, I just have to wait a year after PR grant and I don’t need to do the test because of my age.
  2. I have some news but I've been doing this timeline for a couple of months and I thought it might be interesting to some. 28/04/2017 - 864 visa application acknowledged October 2018 - BVB granted 20/08/2022 - BVB granted 27/03/2023 - Request for further information 27/03/2023 - AFP check requested 31/03/2023 - BUPA medical 06/04/2023 - AoS application sent to Centrelink - the estimated action date was 17/05/2023 07/04/2023 - UK police ceck requested by email because their website had been cyber attacked. 21/04/2023 - UK police check completed 24/04/2023 - AFP check completed 30/05/2023 - Request from Centrelink for the bank guarantee - to be done in 14 days 05/06/2023 - Bank guarantee and relevant documents uploaded to Centrelink - luckily we had an acknowedgement 26/06/2023 - AoS rejected. The documents hadn't been submitted in the required time. They had. See above. We had to visit a Centrelink office becaue the phone line wouldn't work. After a struggle they agreed to help and acknowledged all the information was there, and on time. 29/06/2023 - Aos accepted 31/08/2023 - Request for 2nd VAC 31/08/2023 - 2nd VAC paid 01/09/2023 - 864 VISA GRANTED. So it's been a long haul but here I am now with PR. Next step citizenship I hope. I want to say huge thanks to Go Matilda for their help with my application, and an especially big thank you to Sarah who has held my hand, metaphorically, through these last nervous months. Good luck to everyone who is waiting. Lesley
  3. So I’m nearly there. My AoS was approved and submitted 29 June (application acknowledged 28 April 2017) as the final piece of the jigsaw. So hopefully not long now.
  4. My AoS was accepted on 29 June so I’m just waiting for the next contact, but not expecting it any time soon.
  5. When did your 143 come through Tulip1? My AOS was accepted on 29 June 2023 after a little drama and based on your experience I’m trying to not be impatient. It’s good to hear you’ve made that step forward.
  6. I’d like to ask a question. On 27 March I received a request for further information. I’ve now done the medical and received both my U.K. and AFP police checks. On 5 April my daughter got confirmation that she’d lodged the AoS and was given 17 May as the estimated date for completion by Centrelink. It’s now 22 May and we’ve still not heard anything. She’s checking her emails daily, including spam, and no phone call either. Also checking her myGov account to look for any movement. From others experience, is this sort of overrun by Centrelink normal? I know they only said the 17 May was an estimation, but it gets a bit frustrating to be so near. I’d quite like to be in the 1000 Alan mentions in his blog!
  7. I have just received a request for further information and request for AOS. My hands are shaking and I’ll be reading everything at least 4 times!
  8. I’m late April 2017 and I’ve not heard anything yet. Fingers and toes crossed!
  9. Yes Linda, I've just been waiting and watching, but as you say May 2017 seems odd. I'd seen January 2017 had been reached and just thought yes, it's getting closer. Now it seems to have gone past me and is nearly reaching you.
  10. My acknowledgement is 28 April 2017 and I've heard nothing. I thought it was strict date order.
  11. It's quite sad that this page seems to have ground to a halt. Or am I missing something?
  12. Interesting reading. Combine this with the details in the processing email, where the assessment/lodged date for 143/864 visas has been May 2016 since August 2020 and the wait time stretches even further.
  13. Re visit to Centrelink. I visited Centrelink in our earlier lockdown and found their arrangements for distancing inside the office were well thought out. And even though I had to queue to get in(I went early before they actually opened) even the queue was great at regulating itself for distancing. So try it, it might not be as bad as you think.
  14. Will we be notified what our queue date is? And then what does the queue date mean?
  15. I agree with ramot. My interpretation is that the 864/884 visas will be held up until the 143/173 dates catch up. Up till about 6 months ago the 864 date hadn’t moved for more than 2 years. I seem to recall seeing a while ago there were may be about 1200 864/884 visas waiting to be processed, considerably less than the outstanding 143/173 visas. I don’t think it’s good news for anyone really. 143/173 will continue as now and 864/884 will wait for them to catch up.
  16. Merryweather. I’ve not found the Socialising thread so am replying here. Have you tried finding a local branch of the CWA, the Country Women’s Association. I’ve been here for nearly 2 years on a bridging visa following an 864 application and live in a suburb of Melbourne. The CWA isn’t just limited to the country. I joined my local branch within a month of arriving and found that our last 2 branch presidents are ex-pat Brits! We have craft evenings, some bake, some knit, we have stalls at local markets to raise money for local good causes. We also have social evenings, go to the movies, to the local am-dram productions, go to exhibitions. Also through friends I’ve made there I’ve joined a walking group, we walk 4 mornings a week, have a monthly lunch and meet for morning tea that stretches to wine o’clock. I nearly forgot the annual winery coach trip! My age is similar to yours, and I do gym classes and Zumba every week. I’m widowed and moved here to be with my only child and her family and decided I had to go out to find friends. Do try the CWA. You might find the company you’re looking for. Good luck.
  17. https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2019/03/new-ageing-australia-visas-available-april/ Not very nice comments!
  18. Hi Alan. Thank you for mentioning 864s. If they are moving again have you any idea what date they’re processing?
  19. I've been here since the middle of April. My 864 application has been in for 8 weeks now. First payment made at the beginning of May. I'm in Point Cook with my daughter and her family. Point Cook is growing rapidly and like for like houses here are about $1 million AUD less than the other side of the bay. We're 20 minutes from Werribee open zoo, there are wineries nearby and we're an hour fro Torquay and the start of the Great Ocean Road. We have a good shopping mall at Pacific Werribee and lots of play parks for the children and nice cafes serving good coffee and lovely brekky for the grown ups. It's about a 45 minute commute into the city for my daughter and her husband. I'm loving being able to be a hands on granny and helping with kindy drop off and pick up and child care one day a week. My brother has only visited before at Christmas and didn't believe me when I said how cold it's been. I've never seen frost on cars Iike I did at the weekend. I'm interested reading all the different experiences of everyone on here.
  20. Hi Bev this is my first post on here so forgive me while I get used to it. I put in my 173 application in August 2016 and I've just come back to the UK after 7 lovely weeks with my daughter in Melbourne. While I was there I found this forum and I got really depressed by the timescales you all quote. Following an email enquiry today it confirmed they are only working on 18 August 2014! At this rate it's at least another 2 years for my application to be considered. ? Anyway i I was interested in your post because I had started to look at the e600 as a stop gap but my reading was different to yours. I understood that however many times you entered and left Australia the total time you can spend there is the time allowed by the visit. So I understood that the clock stopped when you left and restarted from that point on reentry. But you seem to be saying that the clock actually resets and the 12 months starts again. Is that what you're saying or am I misreading your post? I really would like your version. I'm retired and I want to be out there with my 2 young grandchildren, not sitting here by myself waiting to hear from Perth. Sorry this is so long. Hope you managed to reach the end Lesley
