  1. Hi Diane A few week ago I had a huge sort out, I am having some problems with my son and his partner more his partner but he feels he should be on her side, I get the odd gift turn up DVD and an email but I haven't seen him now for a year he is 40. So I am redressing my husband passed 2014 so one day I just went for it I had even got stuff that my Dad had sent my Mum so many cuddly teddys monkeys you name it I had it. All stuff that ment a lot to me and hubby that was hard but my son wouldn't care less about such thing's so I thought if anybody is going to throw them out it should be me. The church op shop I think thought I would never stop and they would have to build an extention all the rest went in the recycle bin or the front door BUT IT ALL WENT. Trust me you will feel great. Happy recycling xxx
  2. Hi Paul You are very welcome and thank you for your lovely reply and you offer to help very kind of you. You have already answered one question regarding the dog wasn't sure how long before leaving so that is great. Sadly my problems are too far ahead for you I am 68 so my worry is I receive both pensions and what can I be sure of when I return. There seems to be a different thing for everybody. I had a go yesterday about the HSBC apparently you can open an account with them for the UK I tried everything but couldn't see it on the site so that lady was very lucky. I think that is the key depends who you talk to you can get a different answer. Also do I take the car it was my late husbands so I am attached to it I will decide when I find out what I would have to do with it back in the UK. Anyway Paul I wish you all the very best in your move and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. xx
  3. Sorry to here your trouble Paul. I am also going through moving back and don't have all the answers. Your pet needs his injections up to date for the pet passport But unlike before we had to wait 6 month and they do quarantine in Australia in the comfort of there home now it is only a couple of weeks and then they are good to go. Once you arrive at Heathrow you just go and pick up. Otherwise they have 12month in the UK quarantine. I would think if your container is good to go you would just need to find a removal company and they have lots on this site and make your arrangements with them. I am not sure why you want to take your citizenship here if you are going home. Once you have got your pet and container sorted you are good to go and I wish you all the best can't for the life of me understand why nobody has answered you even crack pots get to have there problems answered. xx
  4. Dell Another lady just put this on the site and I have had a look and it is all there for us I think. https://www.gov.uk/state-pension/overview
  5. Hello Bristolman This is so interesting and yet we don't seem to have a clear picture I am waiting also for someone who really does no what will happen to us. I am sure people will be fed up with me but I am a pensioner with feet in both camps 68 a widow since 2014. I feel I want to go home but so scared of messing up, my late hubby and I have been back twice over the years and even then it was not easy but to do this on your own is really daunting. It seems if you have more than 10.000 pounds from what someone said yesterday regarding her Father you don't get anything, well if you have to pay rent and all the other stuff that is not going to last long so your on the streets 70+ what happens then. I just wish someone from somewhere who really does no would tell us the bottom line please. xx

  11. Hello Dell Thank you so much for your reply who would have thought I would be talking to a Lancashire lass I am from BOLTON Fred Dibna country stepple jack and all that. I do get the odd email and gift through the post from my son but he is 40 now and old enough to make his own decisions. They have had a few problems in the last 3 years and she seems to feel I want to mother her which I suppose I do it is my nature to care but she doesn't get I don't want a daughter I have a son but who said we can't look after each other. My husband had lung desease IPF and yet neither of us ever smoked so he was on oxygen 24/7 so I slept with one eye open and one closed for over 3 years incase there was an interruption with the machine. I have looked at Park Homes and I agree they are beautiful but I can't decide if I want to go back to Bolton or try near the coast, I don't understand what you mean about our Aussie Pension and savings. They take our Brit Pension into account and savings but why would they do that once we have moved. I was looking at what Lady Rainicorn was saying and it doesn't seem a lot of savings to get nothing at all. I was on a site checking it out and I was aloud credits and help with council tax. This is what scares me as there are so many different thing's for different people. I would take my little dog chloe she is 13 and I adopted her last Christmas as my little dog aged 17 passed away in June she just never got over Dad missing it was very sad to watch her go down hill. Talking to yourself to me is normal but when you start to answer yourself back I think it is time for a companion or the shite jacket people to come. What we want is someone to say you can have this and this and you will get that and that. I do hope I am not doing this next Christmas Dell.
  12. Hello Dell At last someone who is similar to me I am going through the same stuff and I was going to get some help from one of the people on the site but family commitments have made it hard for her which I understand. I am 68 and my hubby passed away in 2014. We like you have been back twice once to look after my Dad and once for work back in 2009. I am on part pension and an Aussie Pension. I have a son living in Melbourne but I haven't seen him now for a year and it looks like another Christmas with just me and my little dog. That is okay I can't fix what is going on between him and his partner and to be honest I don't want to try anymore it is very silly and when you have been a fulltime carer for 4 years and gone through what hubby has been through you tend to look at thing's differently. I have gathered a bit of info and received a letter from the UK on behalf of the Prime Minister who I wrote to in the first place. If you would like to work this out or try to I can send you my email address which I would do now but not sure how to. You are write it is a big thing to do and on your own is very daunting to me a scary as I will be alone I have some friends and a couple of cousins but that is it but over here yes I have friends I talk to on my walks and at the shops and I can go and have the odd coffee but like you it isn't enough. It would be nice to have an evening walk with the dog and pop into the local with her on my way home which I wouldn't dream of doing here and it isn't something we did anyway. I am so fed up with loosing my confidence that brought us here back in 1989.

  18. Hello Pat, All is well I just wondered what you meant, I have been let down by my computer man and he can't come till Thursday 2pm. Are you saying that because I have a son here I will not be able to go back home as a resident. So when my husband and I went back in 2007 because we were two and going to work and look after Dad that is okay or were we not resident status either but it didn't matter because we were working.?
  19. We used Chess back in 2010 after my Dad had passed in the UK he left me some items back then it was around $400 but Johnathan was just great and everything arrived safe. If I go back home I wouldn't hesitate using then, over the years we have used a few companies and down the track we have realised stuff missing it is surprising how you forget what you have until you want it then oops gone, I think they have a box for them and take what they fancy easy to do if you have ever watched them before anyone shouts at me not all are like this just a few bad eggs.
  20. We have done quarantine at Spotswood 2 times and they are wonderful they can even have there own food brought in, we used to visit as much as we could you can go into the kennel or they have park areas to go any play and sit with them, they can have there own bedding just like home, the kennels are heated in the winter and all there needs are met our little dog the 2nd time was even wagging her tail so was so happy to see everybody (made us feel a bit bad doing it to her again) all the pictures of the pets who have stayed are on the wall including ours. xx
  21. Hello Sue, We have done it twice with our dogs using JET PETS they are great our pets where even on the same plane and we could see the crate from the lounge window as we were waiting to board it was just a lovely site. When we got to heathrow we just went round to the quarantine section along with others and picked them up and we were on our way can't fault it and we like I said have done that twice. They will even deliver for you if you wish. I think now you only have 23 days after they have had there vaccinations and they can travel were as in the good old days it was 6 month much better now.
  22. I don't no if this is about me but I am not leaving a child, my son is 40 engaged and living with his partner they both have a very nice life and my son as really done well here with University and a job he has been in for 20 years. This is about me and trying to make some cense of what I am going to do with what is left of my life without hubby and for people who have been there they no it is bloody hard I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I have to try to do something and I am not after anything that I shouldn't get or crying in my soup it is what it is.
