am i correct in saying the cost of the AOS is $21,000 can someone please confirm this

    Regards all

No. AOS is $10.000 for the first applicant and $4.000 for each after that.

  2. I really feel for you Marilyn it must be so frustrating to be so near and yet still in the dark. We thought we would be living the dream by now not still waiting in the ever lengthening queue. Still every day that passes is a day closer to the dream.

I really hope you hear that you’re visa is ready and waiting in the next couple of weeks.💕

Agreed to all, rules are rules and if they were just taking a chance. Its unfortunate that this has happened but realistically parents will not be getting any younger and healthier which concerns us as sons-daughters who lovingly want their parents to be with them.

Out of curiosity if she would have applied for a contributory parent visa in few years of her stay or maybe even last year when her health was getting rally bad. Would the immigration be treating her case as the same? or is just because they are not going to get enough fees as the contributory applicants they are going to be so harsh on her. i know medical test results would have been the same but still she was going to pay huge fees and AOS.

I don’t know if you are aware of how much it costs to be in residential care in UK but the amount we are paying for a contributory visa would not even cover one years fees. My mother was in residential care and the cost 2 years ago was more than £36,000 a year. That was only residential and not nursing care home. I don’t know the cost in Australia but I’m sure it would be more than UK. Very sad case, I hope she is allowed to stay for the time she has left but the government should not have to foot the bill.

  4. I agree ..... it’s very sad but as you say rules are rules. If the family pay for her care perhaps they will let her live the short time she has left in Australia.... but the Australian people shouldn’t have to foot the bill for her care as she doesn’t meet the visa requirements. We all have to wait and see if we meet the health requirements and as we are all getting older we are mor susceptible to health problems. Very sad situation.

Recent update from the parents email is stating as Jul 2015 for 143 and last updated 3/04/2019. Its been showing July 2015 for the last few months now. Does anyone know if someone has applied after Jul 2015 and received any further requests from Immi? and its just that the automatic email response dates havent been updated

I only know of one person who applied in August 2015 and was asked for paperwork in February this year Rosiejaq. She has her timeline and a post on page 799 about half way down. Hope this helps.

First had chest X-ray then had to pee in a cup so they can test glucose, protein and blood. Take your blood pressure, weight and height then get you to read letters an eye test. Goes through loads of "have you had...." then asks if you had any major surgeries long stay in hospital and if you on any medication. Takes blood pressure, then looks in ears and down your throat. Did knees and hand reflex test, Checked back, arms and legs for any skin issues. Laid down and she pressed all over torso. Took 1 vial of blood. Made me squeeze her fingers and then she placed both hands on my shoulders and asked me to push up while she pushed down and did same with the side of my face .

They come back to you very quickly if they need to see you again. They found an abnormality in my X-Ray which could be a few things so they called me back the day after and I had another 2 X-Rays done. I am now waiting for Radiologist to check it and they will come back to me. I was very stressed but the Physician was great - I asked could this be an reason for my visa not to be granted if its something serious and he said "No whatever it is we will process through it"

    Hope this helps

Thanks Marilyn they certainly put you through a thorough exam.... I hope they get back to you quickly about the X-rays and it’s nothing to worry about... this whole process is stressful enough without added stress but nice to know they will work through things. Fingers crossed for you🤞
