  1. May I ask at which stage of the 189 process that the (IELTS) test comes into things? Is it when you submit your EOI or not until you are invited and begin the visa application? I suppose you would want to know in advance of submitting the EOI what score you got before allocating yourself a certain point score? Also can anyone recommend which is the better option out of the IELTS or PTE? Can you do them more than once if you don't get the results you hoped for?
  2. I agree! There are so many positives and negatives on both sides. As an Aussie in London, I get worn out when my Aussie friends here go on about things like the weather in the UK. I'd rather focus on the fact I can go somewhere like France for a weekend trip in just an hour! Moving to London suited me because I was young, single and looking for new adventures in a big global city. It was great for me at that stage in my life. But now I'm partnered up and older, when we move back to Australia next year (hoping my boyfriend's visa gets approved) I want to shift my focus to appreciate things like how lucky we will be to be able to jump in the car and make a quick easy drive to somewhere like the sunshine coast on a sunday! & how nice it'll be to raise kids in a warmer climate where we can enjoy more outdoor activities. I guess it is easy to end up in arguments about this type of thing because people's experiences are so vastly different. Where you moved to in Oz, who you moved with, your age, your interests, your financial situation, your line of work...and so on. Even people in the same city or job could have had polar opposite experiences. We must all be careful not to generalise. All you can really do is talk about is your own experiences, but not assume that they will necessarily apply to other people.
  3. Depends what area of Enogerra it is. There are parts of it which are very industrial and not that nice, but there are also leafier parts. On the whole I would say Ferny Hlls and Arana Hills are nicer in that they don't have the industrial side that Enoggerra has.
  4. That is very comforting, thank you so much! thank god forums like this exist, it's so intimidating to just see questions like this on a form but not have any idea how much info to give or whether you could be digging yourself into a hole. I think we will just go ahead with our trip as we should be able to explain easily that we just have a pattern of holidaying to random locations !
  5. Mmm. That makes sense! I'm surprised North Korea wasn't considered one worth asking questions about! good to know. It is understandable that they want to know if you've been to certain "high risk" countries, but the question is just so general that we are not sure how much info they want so are a bit stressed.. we go on a weekend trip outside of the UK almost every couple of months, so our list would just be stupidly long, ha ha ! and we are looking at going to around 15 countries between November 2016 and February 2017, including countries in Africia and South America. We are not sure whether to just put the whole trip on hold in case some of these places are considered "high risk" on our application... edit - just saw your response, Quinkla - that is good to know!!

  7. Helllo, I am looking into both the skilled worker (189) visa to bring my pommie boyfriend back to oz with me. We've noticed when looking into some of the application forms that the immigration department ask you to list where you've been on holidays/travelled to over previous years, and also any travel you are planning to do in future. This seems like a bit of a joke of a question given how often most europeans travel! Does anyone know the reasons behind why they ask this question? I noticed they ask this on de facto visas too, so they must ask it on all visa applications regardless of class. Are they looking out to see if you've been to particular countries that they might consider make you look dodgy or in bad health (eg. if you went to south america which could mean dodgy dealings or africa and caught a disease) :-/ we are wanting to travel to these countries during the application process but are wondering if doing so might make us look unfavourable?! Any insight is appreciated. Cheers, Andrea
