  1. Thank you. I think I'll apply for 12 months. Although as we are travelling out 30 months after our lodgement date, I really hope we don't need that long.........
  2. Hi Sue, There is a tick-box in Settings, Signature 'Show other people's signatures alongside their content' Hope this helps.
  3. Happy Easter everyone. Selling the home is quite traumatic but at the end of the day it is just bricks and mortar. Our offspring and their offspring are all the other side of the world and that's where we want to be or we wouldn't be on here This weekend we will be deciding on the removal quotes and booking our flights......one way! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for our visa applications to be processed and then we will be able to set up a new home in some new bricks and mortar Does anyone know how much the e600 visa costs for 3, 6 & 12 months? All I can find on-line is 'starts from £90'. Alternatively we might get the basic visa which is valid for a year but with a maximum stay of 3 months at a time. I guess we could fly to New Zealand for a night and fly back the following day for a further 3 months. @Alan Collett are you able to advise on this? Your help would be much appreciated. @Geoffandgill and @juliew1499 look forward to meeting you soon
  4. Hi Julie, Good to hear from you. We've just got some quotes and will be going through them over Easter. Who did you use and would you recommend them? We will also be storing here until our visas are sorted as we have also decided to go out on tourist visas in June. Another Easter job is to book the flights Another question is how long a visa to book? When we fly in June it will be over 30 months since we lodged!! We are meeting up with @Geoffandgill on the South Bank as they are coming over on a visit in June. Maybe you would like to pop up from the Peninsula so we can all exchange notes and share a nice bottle of wine....or 2. Anyone else in the Melbourne area in June/July fancy meeting up?
  5. It shows on mine Just looked in Settings/Signature and there is a tick-box marked 'show signatures' and mine is ticked.
  6. Oops, managed to get my last reply within your post!!! Think I'm a bit scatter-brained today as it was only last night we definitely decided to take the plunge in June
  7. Oh my word, that is excellent news. Let's hope that keeps up So, so close to you now @Catlady2014 and @clerk85 We have definitely decided to go on a tourist visa in June and take a bit of a break before our visas are processed. I'm getting a teeny bit excited today
  8. Wow. That's probably the best news in a while. I wasn't aware they would respond to individual queries like that. We are seriously thinking about going over in June on the 600 visa and waiting it out although we would have preferred a double-summer rather than a double-winter Looking at the timescale you've been given we may not have to wait too long, fingers crossed!
  9. I sincerely hope we are done by September/October otherwise it's going to be nigh on 3 years. When we applied it was pretty much a 2 year turnaround from application to visa! Unfortunately, we have absolutely no way of knowing how long it will take and that is what I'm finding so frustrating. Fingers crossed that things speed up
  10. Hi fellow December lodger. We too applied in December 2014 and put our house up for sale soon after Brexit as we weren't sure how the market would pan out and at that stage we still thought (hoped) we would be off early this year!! It sold really quickly and we are renting whilst waiting. It's all so frustrating isn't it? We are probably going to go out on a tourist visa in June and hope that we will only have to survive 2, 3 or hopefully no more than 4 months. Whereabouts are you in the U.K. and where are you headed in Oz?
  11. Well that doesn't really help at all other than we should be processed, maybe, by around September(ish)......probably.....!!!:err: Anything you can do to help will be much appreciated by all of us frustrated parents on here Alan:smile:
  12. Hi Radlam. Please do let us know when your in-laws hear something. We lodged on the 1st December 2014 so are only a few weeks behind them. I am avidly watching @Catlady2014 as she is 2 months ahead of us:smile:
  13. It's so hard isn't it? Will we be there for our grandson's 2nd birthday in August I wonder? Getting a kiss via an iPad screen doesn't quite cut it:no: and if we have to live in a shoe-box I'm sure it will be worth it!! I too think this year's allocation is already, or nearly, filled but looking at @bryant's post, we may get a bit more information next week. Fingers crossed and chins up everyone.
  14. I just had a trawl back over some posts around May last year. Posts #10960 & #10980 make interesting reading.......... Post #10960 So, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is the reply I received today after asking for the AOS letter today  Thank you for your email. "I have been advised that the AOS letter was issued prior to cases being allocated to assessment just recently only for a handful of cases, where rather special circumstances existed. One of such circumstance involved a sponsor who was proposing to act as an assurer who was in her last weeks of pregnancy and asked for the opportunity to apply for the AOS prior to her due date. In June 2014 we received a 4 months’ worth of applications, which was a consequence of the abolition of the Non-Contributory visas on 2 June 2014. In numbers, we are talking about more than 2,000 applications with around 3,000 applicants, just for one month. To put this in perspective, 3,000 visas make up over 40% of our annual allocation of places for the current year and the year 2016/17. We are not prepared to start issuing AOS request letters in advance of application assessment to everybody, as we don’t have sufficient resources given the potential magnitude of the undertaking." So, the wait continues...... Post #10980 Hi, I emailed our agent asking if they had access to any list of how many applicants there were each year and about the current situation - they don't, this is reply. "You are correct the DIBP have just issued a notification that places for Parent Visas are filled for the year ended June 2016 and that allocation for final processing for contributory Parent Visas are currently for Offshore subclass 173 or 143 - 16 May 2014 applications received"
  15. I'm with you on the wine this evening. All we can do is keep our chins up........and try not to fall into alcoholism!!
  16. I feel your pain @Catlady2014 This is way and by far the most frustrating period of my life. We actually sold our house straight after Brexit as we were concerned about the market falling. We are waiting this out in rented accommodation!
  17. We've been in the queue for 27 months and they are assessing just 15 weeks prior to our date. So, so near yet so, so far......:arghh:
  18. I have this vain hope that the auto-responder isn't working......
  19. I really thought I would wake up this morning to find an update........... Still nothing:sad:
  20. It is the not knowing that I am finding so hard to cope with. If anyone from Immigration is reading this thread, please please give us some indication of expected/projected timescales over the next few months. It would be very much appreciated.
  21. I'll be honest, I only ever look at the 143 date! Please, please let there be some movement on the date tomorrow. Look forward to the day when we might be able to meet up and laugh about this over a nice drink on Melbourne's South Bank:smile:
