  1. One day we will look back on this process and say...... "hey, it was all worth it in the end" Keep Calm and have a glass of wine!
  2. Oh no. What's the problem? I've got just short of 3 years on mine. I do hope they get a move on.............
  3. We paid a certain amount for him to lodge the application, with a further payment due at the end. I have already emailed Immi once and had a reply, so I just did a reply this week with our details. All the above was in the subject line. I copied the agent in to the first email but had no response whatsoever. I plan on sending Immi's response to him when I get it. I just wish I had a crystal ball to see how many applications are still on top of ours in that pile
  4. That's a good question. We submitted the original application through an agent in Australia but he has subsequently moved and is exceedingly difficult to get any response from. I have emailed the Department direct to advise them that we are moving over on a tourist visa and given them our contact details in Oz. I've also asked them to contact me direct as I have little or no confidence in receiving anything from the agent. Therefore the answer is...I'm not really sure!
  5. Yep. On Catlady's timeframe we would have been contacted end of March/beginning of April............. We certainly need our sunglasses here today
  6. We haven't heard anything either but we did our Police checks a couple of weeks ago so that would be one less thing to think about when we do hear. I think they are only updating monthly now, so the beginning of June should give us a better clue. If it still hasn't moved, there could well be tears!! Who knows anything anymore?
  7. The last time I was in Oz I was chatting to a chap who shipped his car over. He basically said that unless you had a total love affair with your car, don't bother - it wasn't worth the hassle!
  8. It's all a bit frantic isn't it but I'm sure the holiday helped. Our daughter lives in Oakleigh so we will be based there initially. Looking forward to that drink on South Bank. Maybe we could even post a picture on here
  9. I know what you mean on the wine front. I'm just getting ready for a night out with the girls from work. Couple of cocktails first then a nice pasta, and wine, at the local Italian. I have had the post redirected to my brother in the UK but there shouldn't be too much. All of our banking 'stuff' comes electronically and as I've been closing things I've asked for electronic final accounts. There is an option on the redirect form to have it sent worldwide so you could do it for a few months if you wanted to. Good luck with it all. This last bit is flying by.......almost too fast bizarrely!!
  10. Phew, what a whirlwind. All of a sudden there are not enough hours in the day We decided to go with the basic tourist visa, Subclass:651, and hope we may be sorted within the first 3 months so that we do not need to take a trip offshore before the "visa grant" trip offshore. We both finished work last week so are both now unemployed. Notice is in on the rental property and we need to be out on 9th June, technically we will then be homeless. The car was advertised yesterday and we believe we already have a buyer, so then we will have no transport. The removal company is booked, Council tax sorted, post redirect arranged, services notified, home insurance sorted, lottery direct debit cancelled (over 20 years with the same darn numbers) and 3 leaving-dos completed!! Disposal of white goods sorted today, being collected 6th June. A bit of travelling arranged from 9th June to do last minute family/friend visiting around the UK until we fly on the 16th June. Oh, and 2 more leaving-dos and a wedding to fit in between now and the 9th....................................Roll on Australia, I need a rest!!!!!! Edit: And Police Certificates received last week ready and waiting!
  11. Hi both. I'm going to pick your brains here! Which 600 visa did you go for? There seem to be several, some of which need additional insurance. We are still thinking of doing the freebie one, knowing that we would have to go offshore after 3 months, but can't decide if that would be cheaper than paying for the longer visa and insurance. Of course, we might even be sorted within the 3 months............
  12. The wine is certainly helping with the feeling of living in perpetual chaos!! There have been lots of "lasts" as well over the last couple of weeks and alcohol has been involved in many of those too!! Not least of those being our last visit to The Amex. We will have to cheer on our team in the Premier League from afar next season. It only took 34 years to get there........... D'oh!!
  13. OFFSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 143/173We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 3 October 2014. Not quite the jump I was hoping for in a month, less than 2 weeks, but better than nothing I suppose.
  14. I guess we all keep our fingers crossed there will be an update sometime next week. Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone. Or, Public Holiday as we will need to call them soon
  15. Is anyone else really disappointed that this hasn't moved after what was a significant jump at the beginning of April? I was hoping for an update today, but no response this morning
  16. Yes, that was @juliew1499 when she had to go offshore when the 143 itself was granted. I think we might need to go offshore after 3 months if the 143 hasn't been done by then (really hope not, but I'm not holding my breath) and again when the 143 is granted. I think Julie also had to do the same but I'm not sure about absence times for multiple entries on the tourist visa! Hope that makes sense. It sure confused me
  17. Thank you. Mine have always been instant in the past......but I will certainly take heed
  18. It really has been a painfully slow process and as you say, we all supposed we would be with our families some 18-24 months after our applications were lodged. But, we have now booked our flights. Dammit, we are going anyway We will have to live a very frugal existence on my small works pension and try not to spend too much of the house money whilst we are waiting for our visas to be processed. Immi are processing precisely 10 weeks prior to our application and we fly in 8 weeks time. We are going to opt for the standard visitor visa, apply a day or 2 before our flights and keep our fingers crossed we are assessed before the first 3 months are up. If not, a swift trip to New Zealand will be in order for a second 3 month stay and please, please we are sorted by then!! Does anyone know if there is any period of time you need to be off-shore before you can come back into the country? @juliew1499 I think you had to do this, didn't you? All I need to do now is send off for our police checks, end the tenancy on our rental house, book the removal/storage company, contact gas, electricity, Virgin TV, Water company, local Council, visit some friends and family around the UK and book a bit of a leaving bash............ Can't wait
