  1. That's interesting, I too have lived in Perth, WA for 9 years, and quite honestly it has not been the greatest of experiences to which I have encountered, I won't bore you to death, but the job market is totally my worst nightmare (sort of) as it's the most difficult market to get into, even with reputable organisations which I have worked for, it makes no difference at all, and to be honest, I am done n dusted with all the other stuff too, such as quality or there lack of food, and sooo mega expensive here in Perth, unbelievable, and I am done with this Heat - it just isn't me at all, at 38 degrees today, completely over it, perhaps it's an age thing, but you can't do anything with these temperatures and I find myself having to take 4 Cold showers during these temps, I won't even go into the Mozzy thing, that's just an added wind-up...so to say, I know it all sounds a bit negative, but as you said, you either like it here in Australia or you don't and after 9 years I've just had quite enough thanks, I am very much looking forward to returning to the UK (London) and starting again, with my career as now I have 3 different ones, and a business which I will focus on...and really looking forward to just having quality food over there, even a good curry would help....even those country walks looking at the Rivers and Lakes again and experiencing the weather again, this is the third time I have left the UK and I always want to return....It's just totally different here in Australia, not made too many friends, and the ones I have are English, not sure how that one works, I'm already researching what Car I am going to get for when i do return which will be about three months after my contract finishes, (been out of work for five long months) and that'l do it..
  2. Hey bud, I'm no expert, but if your thinking of leaving the UK I would 're-consider' that option, depending if your going to Sydney or Melbourne where the job market is prevalent currently - Perth I would not have this in my options category at all, it is super difficult and I've been here 9 years to date and am in the process of calling it a day here, nice place, especially if you planning a family, but the job market is Rotten here. Been out of work six months (ouch)! and it ain't nice at all, I have just been giving a three month contract and then that's it for me, I will complete it and save every dollar, so when I return I can begin the process of starting again , already picked the Car, BMW series 1 (quality) diesel and will focus on my business as well as getting a regular job to pay the necessaries...It is without a doubt very exciting to travel and consider making a new life in another country, But and there's always a but, do your research (as you already know) and get those applications sent over whilst your in the UK and see how many get back to you, this is a very good indicator of how the job market is, Interviews can always be done on Skype these days, and just let them know your situation about living in Australia. . . You can always apply for jobs in the Government, anywhere, but not Perth, as they have put all roles on Freeze, and then there's selection criteria which has to be answered in Government speak this is very important you get these right, essentially they are an essay or equivalent too. Your other half as a Registered Nurse should be able to find a job without too many issues, again it would be my choice to apply from where you are currently, Nursing is in demand, I know this as I have friends who are nurses and live with one (close friend) not OH...NSW are hiring nurses and Melbourne are currently....If I can help just let me know as I mentioned I am no expert on any of these subjects just passing on experience to ya....p.s. Have moved and lived in three different countries to date and have always returned home to the UK, and will be doing it again in six months unless I get that job at the University then that's all going to change my plans
  3. Hey there, Travel is good for your soul, However, Sydney or Melbourne would be a better choice in accordance with the job market in Perth, WA, been out of work for six months and I'm done n dusted but that's my story, been here 9 years and time to return (sometimes you have to leave your country to appreciate it) I've done that three times now...I would never go to a country (did it once) when I was younger, with no money and that was a Massive Mistake, really take cash with you and don't rely on Lucky be a lady tonight (Frank Sinatra) showing me age a bit there....It's great to be positive and optimistic , but realistic is going to help you more....good luck...
  4. You lucky lucky person, that sounds picture perfect chap, and Richmond is rather stunning, point of fact, it is rated the number 1 spot to live in London, quality and taste Sir. And Berkshire is where a lot of Royalty are from , Sir you do have quality taste, don't lose it and as for the cottage this is just getting better and better and a Sunday Roast, crikey I really can't wait to return the land of splendor any month now...just saving a little more for that rather nice quality Audi A5 or 6 or BMW series 3 or Z4 as per advised by Top Gear - that I have my eyes on, if that makes perfect sense and yes I will be driving and using not petrol but Diesel mpg and all that....next thing you'll be doing is heading off soon to mark n' sparks just quality ....One quick question if I may, did you purchase a one-way or a return as I too will fly high with Qatar ...
  5. Not forgetting the Hyundai Coupe 2.00 litre (this is a little expensive to run) unless you go for the 1600 engine.
  6. Yes I completely agree, except for me personally, I feel the need to have something to look forward to when I go back, the Audi A5 on Diesel 45.6 mpg (urban) which is pretty amazing all considering, I also like the VW Golf nice car quality made..
  7. Check this out, you might change your mind about the affordability bit...: Audi A5 3.0 sports....pure quality http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201602201224192?make=audi&search-target=usedcars&sort=default&radius=1500&page=1&postcode=SE3%209HL&model=a5&searchcontext=default&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&logcode=p
  8. Well I've been fortunate to have lived in 4 different countries and traveled the world, I have spent 9 years giving it my best shot here in Perth, and I for one am in no way a person who would call it quits over a slight hurdle in life, I get on with it, but when you know the economy is up the swanny and your not enjoying where you are living sometimes in life it's good to know when to call it a day. (that's just my perception of it currently) I think it is all about a number of issues, the Economy, the Employment status, the cost of living ect ect ect.
  9. Very true, then you find a car that is affordable but still a high powered Vehicle...BMW series 1 is pretty economical and then you also ensure you buy a Diesel high powered car like the Audi A4 sports...nice
  10. Just also tell your husband the CARS he can have when you go back to the UK, BMW's, Audi's Jag's the list goes on, even if you take a pay cut, go and treat yourselves to a Top Quality Car which is totally affordable, I know I should be in sales right.: )) LOL (not forgetting marks n spencers) wright...: )) this means your will be travelling around the UK in style...
  11. I'm no expert on this area of interest, however, like back in the UK, it depends how much of your lease there is to go, if it equates to the 3,000 bond money then really if you were to up and leave, they would just keep your deposit, regarding your front door, spray some WD 40 in the area of the door ie latches and bolts ect ect ect this will help it I am sure it will. The Rental market is nuts everyone is leaving as far as I know, myself included I am just getting things in order so to speak and will just finish up a 3 month contract then I'm done. I too am unable to afford to live here any longer x 9 years too many. The job market is an absolute nightmare here, and that's it for me, already researching which Car to buy back in the UK they are totally cheap and spoilt for choice, have my eyes on a BMW series 1 or an Audi S3 Quality just Quality..Just one more thing, of course your contract is also legally binding, you must consider the legal implications, but if the time left = the 3,000 dollars happy days....The alternative is not to pay your rent, then the owners will request that you leave within a two week period, there are always options and alternatives...Do you like that last one...I Do : )) happy days...and your right about the agencys they are Clue less...and that's a compliment...
  12. Yes but just think how much more advanced the UK is currently, or come to think of it Europe as a whole, we are the number one country in the world for Advancement, where as some countries ahem! are still living in the past by 30 years (don't get me wrong the UK has still got some work to do on certain issues)
  13. I hear what you are saying, and your right I should just go right away, don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's much better back in London, I just know the job market is more real in the process, and the likelihood of getting one is much higher than Perth, in Perth there are no jobs at all and it's as simple as that, It does not matter which country you live in, if your unemployed for a long period of time then it's time to move on which is exactly what I am doing, and of course looking forward to seeing the English Countryside again, and visiting all the UK Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire, the Lake District, Cotswolds ect and of course the food...nice! I will only be working in London, I plan to live in the country...
  14. I did and that was for one the big Oil companies...am happy to go back to London so it's all good, and i'll be even happier when I land a role back in London as before and will get into my new business venture...so all good I don't like it here that's why I'm leaving and really happy about it...so God Bless
  15. Hey Very Stormy ( Wait for me ) ....I wish you well in your new job back in the UK matey..! all the best I'll keep you updated as to how things turn out for me when I arrive back which will be very soon...just landed a small contract which I will now complete and then I am able to get that darn Car I want....Yes you know it makes sense yes the Audi S3 or BMW series 1 ...or the Audie A4 nice!
  16. I think that returning to the UK is a great choice, why wouldn't you.? It's a great country, the life, style, Food, Quality, and Europe a stone's throw away, Italy, France, Paris, Belgium, Italy, oh did I mention Italy, the food is just quality, the countryside in the UK is still picture perfect, the old villages, the Sunday Roast on the Sunday funny enough, there are soo many things to explore just in the UK , castles, museums, even though we pinched it from other countries (naughty) I know. 9 Years I've been ere! and done and dusted, I know so many other UK people who love it here, and I am happy for them, it's just taken me 9 years to work out it's just not my cup-o-tea thanks! we all have our thoughts and opions and that's great good luck to everyone, I too have done nothing but struggle here, financially, and well the job market, what job market, it's a nightmare currently, that's one of the main reasons i'm off, No one and I mean no one gets back to you, I am qualified and done the Uni thing, but here, it makes no difference in my view, i have mainly worked in Government and won't be doing that again in a hurry murry. and don't get me started on these so called real estate agenycs that run the properties which we rent (sold my home a few years ago) forward thing perhaps...who knows....I speka to a lot of people from the UK (hospitals) and most are leaving, they just can't afford it here, I went shopping the other day and was totally shocked as I usually am, when the bill cam to 30 bucks, I said I haven't bought anything...LOL it is very very expensive here in Perth, WA to live in general, and if you don't have a job well then it's goodnight from me and it's goodnite from him...(two ronnies) And I just have to agree with all your other statements (they are totally true) quality that's what I am talking about I know I can't spell, but I am aware of it, I will say it first before anyone else does, perhaps that's why i'm not getting those jobs....LOL NO seriously, I have worked from some top tier organisations here , but it makes no difference to any of my applications what so ever, In London it makes the world of difference and have gained work with the top Number one in the world in London because of it, so it does make a difference depending on which country you live.... Just make a list of all the Positives about Australia and be real in the process and then make another one about the UK and be real again and just mark down all the Positives about each country, this should help you in no uncertain terms which one you will pick...I have to say I have met a lot of English people over here in Perth adn when I tell them I am off back home, most of them say I am so jealous that your going back, you have one life you might as well live it... I too am alone (with my two dogs, which i have to let go of) not by choice - but have found a better life for them, with an amazing family (Australian) the nicest people I have met and totally on my wave length and of course they have totally emphathetic to my cause and are highly intellectual just like moi....lol
  17. My pennies worth, My thoughts on your current situation are the following, you would need to ask yourselves why you left in the first instance, the UK does offer completely different things in many ways, Education, Universities, places to go and visit, ie Museums, Castles, History, History and History, with the four seasons I might add, trips just in the UK are totally amazing, The Cotswolds, The Lake District, and so many other places to visit, Bonnie Scotland, without a doubt, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and just the history and countryside in Scotland, and then you have Ireland, for sure, it is a picture place to go and visit, perhaps I should sell as a career choice....: ) I know I do rabbit on a little, but the Food in the UK, Marks n Sparkes just Quality, I could go on, but you will end up falling asleep, My thoughts, are you don't want to become a bouncing English Person, going from Australia to the UK and then changing your mind, this can't be healthy can it ? I am asking the question, if you left Australia for certain reason, you might want to stick to your guns... ...and don't forget Europe, why don't you and your family go to Nice or Neme in the south of France or Monaco, amazing part of the world and Eze Village, stunning and the people are amazing there... There is just Europe on your doorstep, for you and your family to go and visit, if you get a little cheesed off with your current situation, it certainly will be an interesting adventure, I too have family issues, and I could write a book on it, my wife went too young 36, and that still does not sit well with me, I have two pups and have taken care of them since the terrible thing happened, so I do have some empathy, I requested help from my so-called relatives back home in the country as this is where the majority of them all live, and even my parents I asked....If they could have my two pups for a short period of time, whilst I gain new employment back in the City of London, and not One Person offered to help, even with losing my wife....How on gods earth does that work, Including my so called parents....are you serious, not able to help me out considering my circumstances, ...You can only imagine my thoughts, I even have an aunt who lives in Cambridge, with a huge Garden and No I am unable to help you...so I am some what Bitter with emphasis on Bitter, but that' will not stop me going back to the UK, I have decided not to contact any of them as I have written them all off and that's that, no going back I'm afraid (in my case) I have friends there, but more importantly I will start my new business venture there and that will keep me very busy indeed, and of course I have the Cars to view, and boy what cars there are....BMW's , Audi's that's my language for sure and I will most definitely be treating myself to one of those .... Sorry I lost the plot a bit there, but getting back to you and your family, I am no expert but if you have a great family (which you do) look at all the things you can do together, Australia is Mega Hot and quite honestly Uncomfortable with it, there is more to life than going to the beach, even though they are lovely beaches, but really how much sunshine will make us all Mc Happy Now....and depending on where you lived in Australia, why not consider France, or Italy, you know the food is going to be in a different league, but don't forget the UK 's restaurants they are just there, in quality Indian, Lebanese, Chinese, you name it, they have it all LONDON> I am just finishing up my contract and I"m done n dusted and can't wait..already looking at cars, and places to live in the countryside....and will begin my applications a month before leaving...and just one last thing, don't allow yourself to get caught up in the drama's so to speak, you have a Family with children and a husband, this is about you and your family now...all the drama's that happen can become stress full and that's not what it's about...(I do hpe you have not fallen asleep////
  18. Hey there, well it's been 9 years too long for my liking, and it's time I started living and travelling around Europe and focusing on my passion more... I don't want to sound negative, but it's Aggressive, the driving here is some of a disaster, when ever I go out in the car, I get some To....er drive right up my arse, and then the food, I really could go on and on which I am currently doing, and then the job market is a laugh, clue less jumps to mind, and that's just the women....LOL LOL But seriously, I miss the Country, I miss the old worldy villages, with those amazing pubs you can walk into and get an amazing sunday Roast, and I'm not talking about Nicole Kidmans' kid....LOL that's a great name that is (quality) History, Culture, high-end cuisine, Food is just quality really it is, unless I have missed the plot here, I find the food just totally under par her in Perth, unless you want to pay Top Dollar Yes Top Dollar, it is flavourless, I thought all these things after one year of living here, and I find it totally Boring, there is nothing to do except go to the Ocean, how many times can you do this? the Sun is Just too hot, 40 plus degress, people idea of an out is going to the local shopping centre, or go to the Gym, at least in the UK you can get in your Amazing Car, because the prices of Cars in the UK currently are Amazingly cheap - point in case, BMQ Z4 6, 000 dollars, are you serious, An Audi A6 again the prices are just amazing, at least your going to be driving around in Style , don't forget to look at the prices of Jaguars, my ultimate favourite quality car, you will be impressed at the prices of them
  19. Hi there, would you happen to know how much it is for two pups which i have...to fly back to the UK
  20. Hi, I know they are searching for Nurses in Ireland (Dublin) as I used to work for the Health Dept In pert...
  21. Hey Pigsy, you will need to aquire an ABN Number with Australia, this will give you your business number for your business This should help. http://www.business.gov.au/business-topics/starting-a-business/Pages/default.aspx
  22. Hey Paul, It depends on where in Australia you are going, if you said Perth, I would say reconsider this 'Big Time' if Sydney is your destination umm, I would not be leaving UK unless you have a shi...load of money to back you up, otherwise before you know it, you will be flying back home, speaking of which, definitely get yourself a 'Return Ticket' without a doubt. You sound like you have good all round skills and can put your mind to anything which is great. Don't forget, it is really important which part of Aus you are going to..tks
  23. It might sound a little strange, but I have one Final and Last Interview on Friday this week, and If I get the role, this will be my last, it is only a 3.5 month contract but enough for me to take my time and get things more in order so to speak, there might be a potential to go permanent, but I will not be holding my breath and to be honest, I think I have had my time here in Perth.
  24. Sorry I have to jump in here, I tend to that go where Angels fear to tread, I'm not going to stop now. Here's a thing, your both married (of course) is a relationship not about meeting each other half way, point in case my Parents, Yes my Parents, Mother and I'm talking about Mum here, is totally Dictated to by her Husband, My Mother has wanted to move house and live in the Countryside, of course she would, she has taste, Idiot Yes Idiot over there, does not want to, WHY? you ask, because he is one selfish Mother (in the nasty sense of the word) and it's his way or ze high way, now when ye are married, is it not important to want to please each other, and have at least a maybe or let's consider it, not just a NO that's very ME ME ME don't you think or am I being a little obtuse əbˈtjuːs/ adjective 1. annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand. "he wondered if the doctor was being deliberately obtuse" [*]2. (of an angle) more than 90° and less than 180°. "an obtuse angle of 150°" It's also very selfish::: If my missus EVER and I mean EVER said it's her way or the high way, I'd be off like a sky rocket to the moon Baby...decisions have to be made by each other, and talked about giving a reason for and against and then a conclusion. I hope you like the obtuse bit, I thought that was great.
  25. I"m sorry I just realised I could be just projecting myself on here...lol that's a little bit scary ...but it's a great way to vent with words, I like that a lot, especially as I have so much to say about Australia, really I do....LOL LOL LOL
