  1. Congratulations javadxster! I'm still waiting anxiously but will keep my fingers crossed that I hear soon too. I'm waiting till the end of this month as that will be three months since my last document upload and if I still haven't heard anything then I will try to contact them and see if I can get any response!! Hope the rest of your move goes well!
  2. I'm in the UK and a bit disappointed it's taking so long to be honest! We had hoped to be able to start our kids at school for the new school year in January but it's beginning to look unlikely. The initial communication I had from my CO showed that he was in Brisbane, it was in the address details I think (in case you didn't want to scan docs). I've heard that contacting them is not advised but I'm starting to think I've been forgotten!
  3. Hey javadxster, I am still waiting (admittedly less patiently than I was...) I have read other threads where people were kept waiting and it seemed to be due, in part, to slow responses from previous employers but as I am not claiming points for work experience I had hoped my application would be more straightforward! My CO is based in the Brisbane office, how about you?!
  4. Congratulations Marley24! You must be so relieved (and excited!!) it's good to know they're still granting visas ;-) could I ask a couple of questions? Did you claim work experience (as I've heard that waiting for confirmation of this can slow grants)? And which state was your Company based in? Still keeping my fingers and toes crossed here!
  5. I'm in the same boat as many of you! I applied for the visa on 7th July and received a request for further information (medicals etc) on the 27th July. Everything uploaded on 24th August and been shown as in progress ever since! I'm checking emails daily and logging in a few times a week just to be sure  I too am hoping to be there in time for the new school year so struggling to be patient!! it will be good to hear when others get their grants to give me hope it's coming soon! Fingers crossed for us all!
  6. Thank you for your replies, it's calmed the panic! I couldn't tel from the immigration website whether you had to have the health checks first or if it was just an option. I'm trying to do this without an agent and sometimes I get a bit worried I'm missing something :-) thanks again x
  7. Help! I've been a bit daft and lodged my EOI without realising that my youngest child would need a passport... (I know it's worse than daft but I was excited when my skills assessment came through!). After receiving an invitation (hooray!) I realised my error and quickly applied for a passport. Unfortunately due to repeated bad luck with our countersignatory I'm now running out of time! I'm still hoping it will be OK but my fear now is that I try to apply for the visa and discover that I HAVE to have a health check already (which I would have done if I had the passport...doh!). Please let me know your experiences with applying a 189 visa recently, especially if you didn't have completed health checks... I'm panicking!!
  8. I'm not an expert in this by any means, in fact I currently have my fingers crossed as I wait for Aitsl to assess my skills. However, my understanding is that Aitsl are only assessing your skills for the purpose of a visa and there is a separate registration process teachers need to go through for each state. As you've already been advised, checking the skills list is the first step (I don't recall seeing middle school teachers on there though). As for whether your skills need assessing, again it is only relevant if your job is on the list and even then only do it if you want / need the 5 points for partners skills. I hope that helps, it's quite confusing and I may be corrected by someone who knows better! Good luck
