  1. The following is taken from the Australian government website: 'All applicants for parent migration must be sponsored. At the time the visa application is made, the sponsor must be a 'settled' Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. 'Settled' means a person must have been a resident in Australia for a reasonable period, which under policy is usually two years.' I hope this helps. Good luck [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  2. Very useful information AMP, thanks. Can you share with us who you are using. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  3. That's my understanding too. Your state pension grows until your normal pension date. If you leave the U.K. earlier the growth isn't affected. But hey, I could be wrong. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  4. I'm not sure of the process when opening a bank account from here. We opened an account at the Commonwealth Bank when we were on holiday two years ago. Visas were never mentioned. We opened a smart access account (this costs $4.00 per month) and a savings account which pays around 1 percent interest. We have debit cards. Transferring money using Transferwise or UKForex is really easy. The convenience of always having money across there is amazing. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  5. We have used UKForex and Transferwise. Neither charge for depositing in the Comm Bank. Transferwise offer slightly better rates at the moment and are extremely quick (less than 24 hours on week days). Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  6. Thanks for this SusieRoo. Very useful information even if it is a bit depressing [emoji30] Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  7. Hello Nita, Sorry for the late reply. I know Pertenhall has replied already. I have a slightly different response (but still positive ). A short time after we lodged our application (July 2015) started making plans to visit our daughters in Sydney for a holiday. We contacted the Parent Visa Centre to ask if there was any problem in applying for a tourist visa whilst we waited for our 143 to come through. The answer back from the PVC was that there was no problem in doing this. Since lodging our 143 application both my wife and I have applied for two e-Visitor (subclass 651) visas now and all four have been granted in the normal way - one trip taken last April and another yet to be taken this coming April. We didn't make mention of our 143 application when applying for the e-Visitor visa. Perhaps we should have but the PVC didn't advise us to do so. I hope this helps David
  8. Hey Bev50Bradley, Yes it looks like we will occupy the waiting room together for a while. Fingers crossed 2017 brings something nice for us  David
  9. Many thanks Joe. I'm about to see if that worked David Edit - it worked! Lol.
  10. Hi all, This is my first post despite being a member since Jan 2016. Shame on me! I have lurked and enjoyed the information transfer. Congratulations to all the recent visa recipients. One question for now ...... how do I add our own time line to the bottom of each post? Merry Christmas to all David
