  1. hi AlwaysaloneM, thanks for that. We weren't 100% that the Nomination would go through so following our MA's advice we waited until we got it approved. After that, we were hoping it would take 2-3 months for our Visa to be granted as it took to someone in my company who did it the same way a few years ago, but it seems like IMMI Service Standards have gotten much worse since then.
  2. hope you're right and someone's checking Nov files too... It's been almost one year since my company lodged the Nomination and I've been through a lot during this time. I can't wait for the day I can say I'm a Permanent Resident. All the best to everyone waiting!
  3. Must be something like that, yep... Today's my 6 months mark so I reckon I'm giving IMMI a call in the next few days for a follow-up.
  4. when does your current 457 Visa expire? you definitely can if you're still under your 457.
  5. I would have called already if I were you, mate. Good luck, you're nearly there!
  6. I didn't even know about this "application for initial approval" thing! I waited until the Nomination was approved to lodge my application. Hope it works for you and you get your PR soon!
  7. hey mate! congrats! and huge congrats on your PR too!!! mind sharing you TL? can't find you on the spreadsheet...
  8. I'm not a MA nor an expert in this topic. I'm just another 186 applicant so here's just my personal view: the fact that your employer will be more comfortable with you working for him rather than having someone else -Australian or PR- doing the same job doesn't sound -by itself- like a solid reason to sponsor you. But as long as he can proof that he's been doing research for candidates to fill a genuine, existing position at market salary rates and has been unsuccessful, he should be able to sponsor you. As far as I know there's no specific guideline on how to proof that, but common sense is to use job advertisements (seek.com.au, etc) and salary guides such as the one published by Hays as a benchmark. Anyway, he better gets advice from some professional MA in Sydney that can help him with the Nomination stage. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  9. hi eish234! I totally understand your frustration... on top of my employer taking ages after the 2-year mark to apply for the Nomination, I had to delay my visa application lodgement until the Nomination was approved. "Should I've done it all together, I would have got my PR months ago" is something I think of every day but it doesn't help at all and at that moment, waiting for the outcome of the Nomination was the wiser choice. So now just focus on the positive side... anytime between now and May 10th can be our day! And if that's not the case, in accordance to their Standard Processing Times, we'll have our right to call Immi and have someone to check at it. Stay strong, mate!
  10. do you mean having a second job after being granted your PR? of course you can
  11. wow, congrats! that's one of the shortest timelines I've seen around here! don't feel guilty, mate. On the contrary, that gives us hopes that they're speeding up things. ps. pity I don't work for a big bank just joking, that shouldn't have anything to do with it
  12. I checked on these forums and someone had asked IMMI about that here: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/214044-form-80-question-50-please-help.html Apparently IMMI confirmed them that the employer's information on the secondary applicant form has to be filled in. Given that in your case you were granted your PR, I reckon that IMMI must be a bit flexible with this.
  13. I've always seen the "green tick (Received)" status on the attachments as soon as I've uploaded them. My understanding is that that status refers to whether the document has been received by (i.e. uploaded to) the system.
  14. congrats, mate! you're nearly there! May I ask you what sort of documents did they ask for the Visa application? good luck!
  15. congrats, Mike! definitely looks like they're processing late September files c'mon!!!
  16. well, there's no reason to call Immi to check your visa application status before the 6 months mark but after that it's totally fine to call them and ask. From an automated DIBP e-mail: "Where your application is within the published service standard you will not receive a response with regards to status, progress or allocation enquiries."
  17. hi GeeVee, re the latest payslips, did they ask you for them before the nomination was approved or after? did you attach them to your visa application or to your employer's nomination? thanks!
  18. all due respect, you may have been working pretty hard and spending a lot of money in the last 8 years but come on, you're not fleeing your own country after years of civil war nor you're being prosecuted by terrorists (that's how far I'm going to get into this debate, don't want to go too much off-topic)
  19. thanks, @Sheila hope we all get ours soon! stay positive and regardless of the visa stuff, enjoy your weekend everyone!
  20. I'm about to get in one of those I think... Nomination lodged back in May '15, approved in October, Visa lodged in early November, still no news about it, not even processing it ("Application received"). Didn't want to risk my Application before knowing the outcome of the Nomination but never thought it would take another 6 months for it...
