  1. Hi been so busy but have kept an eye on the mail. We have sold up and come to Canberra until we hopefully get our pr. So pleased for all the people that have escaped the waiting room. Especially Julie who has been an inspiration to us all. Disappointed that the date has stayed the same as last week. Hoping it was going to really move on. We shall see.
  2. Have a great journey and enjoy your future life. Don't forget us who are left in the waiting room!! Let us know how you are getting on.
  3. Hi there, what a wonderful send off. Brought a tear to my eye. Just shows you that even the civil service have a good sense of humour!!!!! Kathy
  4. Hi Lisa, we are going out in October but not due (hopefully) to get our visa until January. We have booked a return with Singapore airlines as there wasn't much in it and you can move the return part to later in the year if you need to come back for anything. We just thought it would be safer to have a return ticket but I don't know if this really matters. Hope this helps. Kathy
  5. Hi Julie, keep your spirits up. You've kept ours up this far. Always look on the bright side of life!!!?? Kathy
  6. Wow. Great news. Fingers crossed they get a move on!! Thanks Immi.
  7. Hi Julie, bet you will sleep better now! That's our next move to put our property on the market. So fingers crossed. Well done, Kathy
  8. Hi Maisie, fantastic news. Making room in the waiting room for us to creep up a bit!! So happy for you. Kathy
  9. Hi Joe, who did you arrange your medical insurance with? We are going out in October and waiting until our visas are granted hopefully in January. So we are working out which visa is best to get. Kathy
  10. So pleased for you. Maybe things will start moving now. Keeping an eye on all you other April lodgers!
  11. Soooo jealous. Things are moving!!! Getting slightly nervous now. We booked our flights in October, so have taken the plunge. So much to do now but very excited. Kathy
  12. Hi just started to panic but will be doing the same as you Skeelsy. Our shippers haven't mentioned anything about what we are doing. We have actually taken the plunge and booked flights in October with Flight Centre. Also flying direct to Canberra. Got a good deal too and mentioned this site and the good comments about them!! Think it helped. Now gone into panic mode. Although we lodged January 2015 time seems to be flying. Just working out whether to get e600 for 7 months or a year. Keep up the good work with tips etc. Bored my husband silly with this every day but it's worth it!! Kathy
  13. Hi Amanda, we also have an HSBC AUD account. We asked about a opening a GBP account for Australia with them but it was such a kerfuffle to do it here that we took all the necessary documents to HSBC in Canberra last October. Took about an hour to open it. Very helpful there. Just be sure you take all the necessary ID. HSBC here will be able to give you a list of what you want. With regard to the furniture going out, we are sending it to our daughter as some of it is hers, so hopefully there won't be a problem. It will be in her name. Kathy
  14. Hi, we are doing the same, going a few months early in October. Any thoughts on getting medical insurance/travel insurance with the e600 visa? We will probably get our police check over and done with in June. We lodged in Jan 2015 so hopefully it will still be valid!!! Great to read all the helpful comments. So grateful. Kathy
  15. Hi rubyford, have sent £25,000 to my daughter's account at the Commonwealth Bank with no problem. Don't know about a daily limit. There is a daily limit if it is sent from a sterling account there back to UK. Hope this helps. Kathy
  16. Hi, looks like we might be first in the queue so far from 2015. We lodged on 20 Jan and the first VAC was taken on 6 February. Don't know when it was acknowledged as we are doing it through an agent. Although as I said before we are hoping to go to Australia in October to await our Visa there!!
  17. Hi Lisa Lou, that's great you are going to Canberra too. This forum is great for tips etc. It's kept my spirits up!! Maybe see you in Canberra, Kathy
  18. Hi everyone, well like some others on this forum we have got fed up waiting and are going out to Canberra in October. We lodged our application in January 2015 and working on the assumption that we will get our visa hopefully by Jan/Feb 2017. Both our children are in Canberra and I know it gets some groans but we are not beach people's and we love it that it does have the seasons. Hopefully there won't be a problem with the Medicals and police checks. Now to break it to our respective families. Had enough of the waiting room!!
  19. Hi CathnStev, we used an agent in The Emigration Group in Chester. They had a good write up and we thought it would be easier. No problems with them. A flat fee and off you go. We are coming close to retirement so we could afford to see our children and have been over twice already. We just decided to wait it out and get all our affairs in order!! Regards Kathy
  20. Hi everyone, have been reading this forum since my husband and I lodged our 143 application in January 2015. Its so interesting hearing that we are in the same boat as so many people. A year gone though and we do try to remain optimistic!! Nice to see Julie is keeping a close eye on the date situation. Many thanks for doing all the hard work. Both our children are in Australia, daughter is now a citizen since August and our son has just got his permanent residency so we can't wait to get out there. Keeping everything crossed!!
