One of the companies that we had out to quote warned me that some other companies were doing that with containers that weren't full. For anyone looking for quotes they advised me to make sure it says sole use of the container on the quote.

If you question the need to bring chefs in from overseas you have never tried to recruit one. The world over it is a nightmare to recruit decent chefs. A lot now want the glory without the hard work or they want to work in the high profile kitchens. Trying to recruit and retain a decent chef in an average setting is really hard (and the key word is decent ).

I worked for a mental health charity a couple of years ago and it operated in conjunction with the NHS. The funding was changed and regardless of how many sessions the individual needed we would be paid for an assessment and two treatment sessions and no more. Getting 10 sessions funded sounds good to me in comparison.

We are making the move with three young children and due to age will be going over on a temporary visa. We are selling our house and for us we would rather have gone and come back ending up in rented accommodation than get to a point where we can't go and wish we had. It is a very personal choice and everyone will think theirs is the right opinion, which it is for them. We are in a slightly different position as we get no support with child care from our families so won't be any different over there. The comments above are correct that if you loose your job you have 90 days to find another or leave. But you may not loose it, or you may get pr. I am on a facebook page for poms wanting to move to Australia and there are a number of success stories of people going over on a 457 and now have pr or even citizenship. If I was in your position I would probably be writing a pros and cons list for staying and one for going. Helps me order my thoughts.

As a former publican I doubt very much there will be many if any British pubs left. By the time you retire anyway. I agree with the other posts it is going to feel strange to begin with and one week isn't long to settle. Not being with your family will be adding to it all. I am sure once you are all back together things will start to feel better. I know I wouldn't feel right without my husband and daughters even if I was still in my home town.

As far as I know bankruptcy isn't taken into consideration and your credit history starts again in oz so doesn't follow you. If he has no equity in the house he won't loose it in the bankruptcy. If he can keep paying the mortgage payments and possibly rent it out while he moves to oz he will over time regain the equity. Providing once he is discharged from bankruptcy (normally after a year) he buys back the interest in his house, this is normally an admin fee plus any equity. Unlikely house prices will shift much in a year, plus point out negatives to estate agents and press you are looking for a quick sale you can ensure low valuations. Buying back the interest will mean there is no charge over the property and when he does sell any equity will be his. Just a thought, might help him down the line. Although if the house isn't in his name he might want to seek advice,cab are very helpful.

I have read through the posts on here and I am slightly confused (it doesn't take much). We had a visa assessment by a registered and recommended agent who said that although I have experience as a restaurant manager I didn't have any relevant qualifications to pass the skills assessment. I may have misread but it sounds like if you have a degree even if it is in an unrelated subject that you would pass the skills assessment. Have I completely misunderstood the posts or would my BSc Hons in criminology be enough to satisfy the skills assessment? If not does anyone know which qualification I would have to do? Also someone mentioned the 489 visa in relation to not having the qualifications. Is that something to look into or have I misunderstood that bit? TIA

I keep reading that child care is expensive in Australia but it doesn't sound that much more. $100 is roughly £50 isn't it? I pay £42 a day and it doesn't get cheaper when they turn two.

457 visas can go through pretty quickly. I know two separate people who have had them granted in 4 & 5 weeks from nomination. One has then taken another couple of months to sort everything. The other it was granted last Wednesday, their belongings were collected on Tuesday and they flew this Wednesday. Guess it depends on what you agree with the employer too, how long they will wait from visa grant. Keep focused and you can do it. Good luck.

We have just put ours on the market through a local estate agent, but it is going on an online auction. You set a. Reserve fee and it doesn't sell until it reaches that figure. The buyer pays the fees, you just pay for the legal pack which is around £250. Plus the buyer has to pay a reserve fee so they are far less likely to pull out. The exchange and completion dates are set too so you know when it will go through. Is that an option you could look at, because even if you are in the UK a buyer may pull out again. Also I am pretty sure you can reduce your council tax if the property is empty for up to a year. You don't need to have been with your employer for two years. If they are happy to sponsor you for pr you can do it now. The two years just means you don't need to have a skills assessment. Good luck.

Hi Louise, We are in touch with TSS immigration and have been impressed with them so far. I don't know if they only recruit for certain industries but worth sending them an email to find out. They may be able to point you in the right direction if they don't deal with media jobs. We are in Nottinghamshire. Hoping on some house viewings soon, no chance of selling if no one views it!! We have three girls who are 5, 3 and 16 weeks. Where are you based? Do you have children? Where in Australia are you hoping for? We would really like coastal victoria, but being realistic that we might have to be flexible in areas. It is really frustrating applying for jobs and not getting any where but keep going a job in oz will be for you eventually. Some states charge people who aren't on permanent visas school fees. Thankfully for you Queensland doesn't. NSW charges $4500 per year, per child. WA has started charging this year $4000 per year per family. NT also charge but I don't know how much.

There aren't many jobs advertising 186 sponsorship. If you are flexible on location and don't want to be in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and ? Sorry I can't remember all the places, then you can look for 187 sponsorship which is permanent residence in a rural area. I am pretty sure Adelaide is covered by it. We are looking for chef jobs and have seen a number offering 187 sponsorship. I am not 100% sure but I think that you can apply for permanent residence on the direct entry within 6 months of arriving in oz. If you can manage to really impress your boss very quickly you might be able to convince them to sponsor you for pr.

Hi Louise, It is not costing us anything to be in touch with the agency and for them to put my husband forward for jobs. Please do not use any agencies that charge you to secure a job. If they successfully find hubby a job we will pay a fee for their Mara registered immigration services to process the visa, not to secure the job. We are also applying for jobs we see online and have had some responses so fingers crossed. As someone else has pointed out it is a temporary visa but we are hoping that we can convince an employer to sponsor for pr. Hubby is 45 so don't have enough points to go straight for pr on an independent visa. Well aware that we could have to return to the UK but we think it is worth it. We are also hoping on a back up plan of me gaining the qualifications needed to back up my experience to apply for pr if all else fails. What occupation are you applying under?

Sorry I didn't make sense in my last post. It is free for babies born on or after 01/05/15 and my youngest falls into that category so I don't pay. But my older two don't so I would have to pay for them to get it. If we get over to Australia before July next year my youngest won't have had her third injection. The nurse had said two would be enough but I may pay in Australia for it anyway.

Ah of course. We have been married for 8 years and have three children so that should be enough proof...
