  1. Hi this is right, we cancelled our Private health insurance once we got Medicare. As long as you get reciprocal cover. Some countries don't have reciprocal benefits with Australia so you will need to check. The UK does. The reciprocal cover through Medicare offers treatment for emergency not the full benefit that a permanent resident gets.

    Hope or this helps [emoji3]

    -------

    Eligibility for Medicare Card

Everyone who lives in Australia, excluding Norfolk Island, is eligible for a Medicare card as long as you:

    hold Australian citizenship

hold documented New Zealand citizenship - read more about Medicare enrolment for New Zealand citizens

have been issued with a permanent visa

    [bold]have:

applied for a permanent visa[\bold], excluding an application for a parent visa

permission to work in Australia or

can prove a relationship to an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Other requirements may also apply. Call us for more information

Visitors from a country that has a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia are also eligible for medically necessary treatment.

To apply for Medicare fill out the Medicare enrolment application form.

    Supporting documentation

You need to provide documents to support your residency in Australia, or your severing of ties with the previous country of residence if you are:

an Australian citizen returning to Australia to live after living overseas for more than 5 years - read more about Medicare enrolment for returning residents

a New Zealand citizen requesting enrolment as a permanent resident - read more about Medicare enrolment for New Zealand citizens

In some cases both residency and severance documentation may be needed.

    Norfolk Island

If you are a resident of Norfolk Island, you are eligible for Medicare only if you are:

an Australian citizen who has been living in Norfolk Island and returned to Australia to live

an Australian citizen living in Norfolk Island who last resided in Australia less than 5 years ago

a Norfolk Island permanent resident who holds a Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island visa (subclass 834) and you are in Australia and intend to live here

a permanent resident visa holder in Australia and have come to live here

a New Zealand citizen and have come to Australia to live

    ----

Visitors whose home country has a Reciprocal health care system, yup visitors, are eligible for Medicare.

People who apply for PR are eligible for Medicare.

    ----

    Hope this helps.

  2. From what I have seen in our company, none of my freinds were asked any extra documents. If you are going through high profile agent, they wont make any mistake. They dont leave any space empty.

There are many in this forum that did their documents without mistakes. FYI. But yeah, I todally agree they need not be encouraged to do on their own when they can pay MORE and get things done error free. And then they won't need this forum anymore.

  3. Well I work for one of the biggest investment banking firm and our company has outsourced all immigration work to KPMG. My KPMG agent said this is the longest they have seen in last few years. All my colleagues got in less than 3 months. Mate you have no idea how I was feeling when mine took more than 3 months.

It's hard to imagine how much of a struggle you've been through being a big shot. Other people who have been waiting since January are not even close. They are only facing the 'str' part of the struggle when you almost had an extra s in 'struggles'.

    Must be hard.

But on the good side, you got it. So your prize makes your pain worth.

What bank do you work for? Bank of China is rated 'biggest' in the world at the moment. And commbank in Australia.

Ps: I am so sorry, from my heart that not many people congratulated you.

To all the people: what the hell? What are you guys doing? Why do you all have to be so rude and not wish him on his happy occasion??? Do it NOW. It's an order.

    joking.... Don't mind

Bluetooth is off and location services are on.

    - I like to keep my phone fully charged
