Is this specific to a state or Australia in general??

Ok I've missed a major factor here....do I need to do IELTS test before skills assessment??? Was being a little naive presuming as a British citizen I didn't need to! How do I go about this please??

Although we aren't heading out until late next Summer I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to how I might secure a job before we go. We are planning for Perth! I am a secondary school teacher specialist subject Art and Design but also have ICT and RE. Can also offer Design & Tec and Home Economics Or should I just be realistic and accept the fact I'll be going out to relief work and hopefully securing a post when I'm out there??

Benj1980 my letter has come from PGCE University to state teaching days and course content etc but no student number or date. Should I get it resent with both?

After closer inspection I have only transcripts for one year of my degree so will obviously need to get the others along with my certificate copy. It has my registration number which by memory is my student number. I can also get a verification letter from my university which I reckon I'll do anyway just to be sure. Did you get your police check and medical check before your EOI?

Well that will be a problem for me too considering I graduated in 2001. I have actually just found transcripts for both my degree and pgce! Didn't even know I had them! Benj1980 they both state my module code, module title, credit points, level and result in addition to all my details and course details. Is that enough?

Advice on AITSL application please...just to clarify we need our certificate for in my case an Honours Degree and PGCE and 'transcripts'?? I've heard a few having problems with the transcripts can anybody confirm exactly what they are looking for please? Thanks in advance

Ok so I'm sure this has all probably been asked a hundred times but I'm about to start the roller coaster adventure and try to do a 189 visa application without an agent. I haven't a clue where to start - am I right in saying I have to get my skills assessed before I submit an EOI?? Is it with AITSL and if so how do I go about it? Brother in law and fiancé are currently looking to buy so will initially be staying with them but have been looking at northern suburbs for ourselves. As for support putting us and three children up until we get on our feet will be a massive help. Whatever way we look at we are inclined to come to the conclusion that I'm more likely to secure a job in Qld and hubby in Perth. We could go to Perth and live with his brother until we get work which would be fine without kids! With waiting lists it looks like we need to get them sorted with childcare asap and can't do that without jobs. But there's no point taking the job in Qld if my husband can't get anything. So we are kinda going round in circles. Just going to have to take a risk one way or another

We have weighed up all the factors and still finding it hard to make a call. Ultimately I need to secure a job - well we both do with two going into kindy and one in full time childcare!

So if the job offer was in Qld would I be better taking it or holding out for Perth?

My specialism is Art & Design but also have ICT, Re and Special Needs. From previous experience as a interior architect with Autocad skills and strong Graphics background I have been advised that I could also teach Industrial Design & Tec/Manual Arts. Rural areas seem to have the teaching jobs but we have family in Perth and my husband is a joiner whose prospects may be better there in a city location.

Hi there. Could anyone advise on the job prospects for secondary teachers in Perth. I have been advised that there is an over supply and opportunities would be better in Queensland where there is a shortage. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi Benj1980 - job offer all being well. Thanks a million for info on Yeppoon Miller. Are childcare cost the same as Rockhampton? There doesn't seem to be very many rental properties in Yeppoon?? We are hoping for next summer (UK) but may be sooner depending on the job. Anyone offer advice on prospects for a carpenter Rockhampton area??

My husband is also a joiner (carpenter) and a bit concerned about his prospects in Rockhampton. It's more important I secure the job but we both need work to support two in kindy and one in full time daycare!

Hi Selina. We are just about to start our application. I'm a secondary school teacher with hubby and three kids. We are also going for the 189 visa. Did you use an agent?? Can't decide as fees are unbelievable! Where are you planning to move to?
