  1. It is their fault as we were promised a 6 week delivery not 12, and we wanted to pay for everything in the uk so we knew where we stood, if we had known it would take 12 weeks and we would be living on a higher floor we would have paid for this upfront !!!!!!
  2. Hi we paid everything up front from the uk, the only thing we had to fork out for here was the customs fee of around $120, becareful tho, we were promised 6weeks arrival it actually took 14weeks and we had paid upfront to have the goods delivered to our door because we lived on the ground floor, but when our goods finally arrived we had moved to the sixth floor, then they wanted an extra $150, we tried to argue that it was not our fault, I'm still waiting for a reply !!!!!!! So we picked up most of the stuff ourselves and had the heavy things delivered, and just unpacked them downstairs and took things up one by one (meadows shipping useless)
  3. The goverment will not help you until you have lived here for 2 years, should be like that in the uk too, there are jobs out there but around 1500 people applying for them, this is only in Perth tho, Sydney and Queensland are doing very well x
  4. Deffo the Casino will prob be the only place, but all the matches are on bt sport or bbc and itv, and yes welcome to Australia there are plenty of jobs, if you have this licence or that licence or you don't have the Aussie experience or you are to qualified ???? enjoy the euros xx
  5. Did you apply for your 189 visa in October ????????
  6. Plus at the moment renting is quite cheap as there is to much property, we have a lovely fully furnished 2 bed apart with pool (and washing machine) for $350 a week in a very nice part, 15 mins from Perth
  7. yes we were very lucky to find someone who employed him as a trade assistant, in Perth you do 2 weeks at college, 1000hrs on the job then your final exam, when you register for your electrical training licence they send you a list of colleges who run the course, he starts on the 2nd may for his gap training, unfortunately no one will touch you in Perth without your licence but all the states are different, but I'm sure it will all worth it in the end, he is more qualified than the guy he is working for !!!!!!!!!!!,hope this helps anything else you need just let me know or you can always pm me
  8. Yes we love it here, we have not gone mad on things until my partner has his WA electrician licence, which hopefully will only take around nine months, then we can start to plan for the future, but the pool and beach are free so we are happy, it also took us 3 months from lodgement date until we received our 189 visas, good look for the future
  9. Hi we came out here on the 1st Feb with just over £15000, (we have a back up in the uk too), we are in Perth, the 1st thing we did is to rent a property on line for the 1st 2 weeks, there are just 2 of us, we secured an apartment bond and a months rent up front $3000, a Toyota Echo runaround for €5000, I'd put aside around €1000 for things like setting up internet buying phones, car tax, driving licence, car insurance. In Perth you have to have a WA electrician, so that means getting an apprentice trades assistant (which are like gold dust) college and on the job training (another $4000) but then you can earn the big money, over here you need a certificate for everything which is usually around the €150 mark. We have found the gas and electric quite reasonable around €40 every 2 months and our water is free. You will be fine with £15000 as long as you can get jobs, we love it and I'm just off to the beach now, hope this helps.
  10. Well guys we have been here for 5 weeks and I thought I'd let you know our experience so far :We moved out to Perth on the 1st Feb on the above visa, we rented a lovely 1 bed apartment in shenton park for the 1st 3 weeks. I was led to believe that renting an apartment would be difficult, but it's not, ok you have to go to 'open viewings' but because there is that much property to rent in Perth you have your pick. We showed our bank statements, passports, and also that we have a Australian bank account and that was it, we now live in a nice 2 bedroom apartment with pool in the lovely area of mosman park. Weather has been fantastic, although it gets very windy after 2pm (Fremantle doctor winds). We have bought a 2nd hand car just as a run about because the public transport system is fantastic here. Changed our licences over no problem, and enroled in Medicare. Now the important part, work. We knew that my partner would have to be a electrictian trade assistant for the 1st 9-12 months to gain his WA grade A licence, but what we did not know that these jobs are like gold dust!!!!!! So he sat a test to obtain his white card so he can work on building sites until a trade assistant job comes up, because you can not do any electrical work without this. We are fortunate that my partner has now managed to get a electrical trade assistant position, but obviously the pay is not great so as long as you can afford this, then when you get your licence they are falling over themselves to employ you. So far we are very glad we made the move, we have the swan river on one side and the beach on the other. I hope this helps any other 'sparks' that are making the move. If anyone wants any info I'd be happy to share my experience so far.
