Well I do shifts so only do 3 days a week; so would have him the rest, and we do alot when Im off work. But he attends a daycare facility so he could do that on my work days before leaving if needed be. I just wasnt sure on best option, as he will be going back from the Summer and settling into school, his friends etc again then being taken away from that again a couple months later. I can see pros and cons of each side. But the socialisation aspect is definitely a good arguement as during school hours there is nobody his age there, nursery age at the oldest until 1-2pm. Thanks!! Yes had worked out in my head he will be going to Kindy; I hope - still need to check age cut off, hes end of april birthday. But all kids being new would be ideal! Thanks for the advice - will leave earlier, Nov time if visa etc through by then x

My son is coming 5 in April and will be moving into primary 2 in september, however, we are hoping to move in December so wondering is it worth while to send him at all. He will be learning stuff that I am sure will be completely irrelevant as he will be starting from the bottom in Aus when we get there. Plus it sounds a bit more disruptive to me to send him back after Summer to then take him out again in December. Anyone else moved with little ones the same age what did you do ? Did they adapt okay to the new curriculum and being a school baby again

Hey, section 5 for AHPRA, I understand majority (all that I have heard of) midwives are granted registrations but with the condition of supervised practice for 3 months due to not meeting the continuity of care area during their training. Has anyone managed to get around this? I am a recently qualified midwife so when I go with a years experience I will already be in competition with more experienced midwives, so don't want requiring supervision to also be an x against my name. I know which option I had to pick between similar applicants but one requiring supervision while the other didn't. If you managed to meet this part of the registration could you let me know how you went about proving it? As during training in the UK it isn't a requirement to log continuity experience, only caseloads and only advised to get around 5 (in my uni). However I did 4 6 week stints with a community midwife through my training and seen well above 10 continuity women, just did not attend all births, just 5 for my caseloading. But seen many more in the capacity ahpra requires. Help.

Can progress to another visa that is also employer sponsored but is a pr one (the code has left my head). 457 is the only route I am afraid, for my stepdad who is 43 and as stated is a graphic designer so is not sponsored by any states otherwise this would be a route to take its also only on csol so no direct pr option sadly x

Oh and $55,000 quote on wage - I have spoke to tonnes of employers all of which will pay a band 6 midwife $65,000 minimum working up to $102,000 through gaining experience/years

Does anybody know of any big firms or anyone really to contact regarding jobs for an experienced graphic designer in or around Sydney? Only avenue is via 457; over 15 years in the trade, and for the past 2 have owned own a small business design and printing with two employees.

Thinking Wollongong or Newcastle Marisa - just want to be close enough to Sydney as thats where some of my family are hence the name lol x

Thanks, already in the process of this. It will be granted. If he came on holidays to Aus for 2.5 days he would see the child more than he sees him in an entire year spaced out here. He also requires supervised access to my son; not exactly a cherisable relationship. Court already granted a surname change to my own which they dont do often so im pretty confident they recognise hes not great

Midwife so pretty well paid over there yes, and from what I hear and have researched there is much better job satisfaction there in the role. I have literally no support here minus a childminder, which is easily replaced in another country. My son goes everywhere with me, when he is not at childminders and I have been out 4 times in the last 5 years so don't think it will be a big jump for me with having no support. When I am sick I have to get on with it, no help. When my son is sick, I have to take time off, you should see my university absense list - crazy as anytime he was sick and didnt want the childminders I had nobody else to help. What I do have here though is friends, but I dont even see them much they are into going on nights out etc so I spend more time texting them than seeing them. I would like to get the same kind of support when I move after some time as its really useful to have friends for a wee rant sometimes even if just on the phone. x

How did you settle; its harder to make friends I am sure as the only means of a social life with little support there would be at the park or beach . Did your little ones adjust to having mainly you and not further family members in the picture often. Also any experience on house sharing ?

Please tell me it's doable on one income. Did you find it hard the whole process alone? Was it harder to make friends once there as less of/ no social life outside of the park etc with kids

I cant see it on skills lists . But I know they change. I have heard of graphic designers going out before but I think they went WHV secured a super employer and went sponsorship route that way. But think at their age they want more stability than a whim like that

I will still manage to save £6000 or so I am sure. But the real savings will start once I am in employment, and start selling house stuff. Will start work once I have returned from my holiday to Sydney in September hopefully

Hey, I wont be able to move until at least another two years (by the time I finish my degree and work for 12 months for post grad experience) so plan to save as much as possible within that time. I have seen people stating they had savings accounts in Australia post move as there is a better interest rate? Anybody able to shine some light? I have had a look about on line but its all a bit difficult to know what is best judging by online from a different country. I like the idea of having a direct debit to another account so its out of sight out of mind and im not tempted to dip into it but just unsure if its better to do this in a UK account of not. Pros / Cons please? * Only issue is that as a student still at present the constant flow of income into an account would be slim for the next 7 months, some months more than others probably depending on personal expenses each month around

Any midwives on here who have successfully got registration meeting the new guidelines; I cant remember the section number but it was to have a minimum of 10 caseloads caseload midwifery isnt common here ( I am not yet qualified) and without this 3 months supervision in the workplace is required. How many employers will want to sign up to someone with that baggage?

Super thank yous. I would just like to do something a little less time commited that I could spend more time with my son for some time once finances aren't as crazy after the first year or so. As I have missed so much since he was born starting into doing this course. Sounds pretty random but I am just curious. I am in my final year midwifery training and will be applying for a permanent visa for me and my son to move once I have finished and got some post graduate work experience. I am just wondering if accepted on the visa with obviously the midwifery as my skilled/wanted trade does that bound me to work in midwifery for a certain amount of time or forever? I am just keeping options open as I would ideally at some point like to travel and take time out with my son once settled obviously but would probably work, if it is allowed, in my other trained profession which is childcare so nanny work or childcare while travelling, something a bit less long term and where my son could stay with me. Is this an option or will I have to stay put and work as a midwife until Im old and grey x

Yea its looked like it would cost around £1400 for the flights alone then spending money on top and dropping money to my aunt for accomodation just out of courtesy. But if I manage to stay for the full year I could save a good chunk I reckon, and more between then and starting a job. Il be honest I only have about 2500 saved, but thats not including money I set aside in my sons savings, which has been more than that. But its locked in his account until hes at least 18 so I cant even borrow some, lol Oh well; he'l thank me for it xx

Im afraid the only help really I have at the minute is my childminder lol. I am there 24/7 at present and when I am not working Im with him, he goes to anywhere I have to go at the minute with me. And I have been out with friends socialising 4 times in the last 4 years since I fell pregnant lol. I have family here who I go to visit but not for help as such, I know I would miss them like hell though but Its one of the fewer negatives xx

I am a single parent, and have permission from the father. He doesnt see my son much. Would probably see him more if he was making an effort to go abroad and see him for a block of a month or so at a time. Only issue is him changing his mindbetween now and applying for visa etc but getting it in writing with a solicitor asap before he changes his tune and then try not to bring it up again until Im ready to rock so it doesnt mull over on his mind too much! I cant apply for a visa yet as I am still doing my degree; although have spoke with AHPRA and ANMAC and bureau about visas and each are confident I can get a permanent visa and there are job opportunities once I finish my degree and work for a minimum of 6 months - a year (preferably a year but they said to reapproach it with them once I have started employment). Money is definitely an object at the minute but am saving as much as I can. My rent is super cheap and if I go for a holiday it will use up a chunk of the savings I have so far but I see alot of benefit in going. Once I start work I will be making ALOT more than I am getting in my sorry excuse for a bursary at present and feel I will be able to save alot quite quickly considering how much I have saved with my rubbish income at present. I also have another year of my course and perhaps another 6 months - 1 year of work following that to save following this possible holiday so more opportunity for saving then. So not quite sure what to be doing xx Thanks for some great advice everybody!

I never trust reviews of places; have had as much of an adventure of the areas as possible via google and maps but its just not the same is it. Thankyous for your views; alot to mull over. Flights on the dates are £708 return which is reasonable!! So il have to have a few sleeps on it, maybe not too many though before the tickets are all gone!! I know very little about the childrens side of things as I havent had that outlook on it before until I had him, before that it was the beach and socialising scene I was more worried about lol xx
