  1. Hello, I would like to bump this thread. We received our PR whilst in England and validated the visas in August 2016, and I was wondering if we have to wait until August 2020 before applying for citizenship? The requirements are quite strict and myself and my husband have been travelling in and out of the country since 2016. This being said the current requirements state that we must have: have lived in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying been a permanent resident for the 12 months immediately before making an application and not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, during the four year period, including no more than 90 days in the 12 months before applying. Can anyone advice if we can apply any sooner as we have already been in & out of the country several weeks travelling etc? Many thanks Jade
  2. Hi Girls a weekend drink sounds good? Lil Smiler where are you based? Could meet near Central Station for lunch this weekend, which day is best for you? Ssiri it would be nice to join you at Fitness First one evening? Will you be going tonight? xx
  3. Hi Girls! Sorry my notifications must of gone in my junk! Its good to hear from you! Just throwing it out there- I am a member of Crunch Fitness (Parramatta) and with that membership I can bring a friend? Anyone fancy doing a class one night this week? I often go on Thursday nights? Maybe google the timetable and if you fancy doing a class weeknight/ weekend we can together? Any other suggestions i'm open to too! xx
  4. Hi girls, hope you're all well. I've recently relocated with my fiancé, from north west England originally and have been in Sydney 7 weeks today. Is anyone still interested in meeting up? We're currently in Parramatta! Hope to hear from you soon xx
  5. Thank you everyone, your feedback is much appreciated. We won't need schools and my position is only temporary so this could possibly be a stop gap while we find our feet. I was in a situation in the UK where employers admitted that as I was an international applicant, I wasn't necessarily favoured. I'm hoping while I will be residing in Australia I'm in a better position to secure something permanent. Take care, Jade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Unfortunately we didn't, we stayed at a friends who lived very central at Potts Point. Parramatta is looking like a happy medium at the mo but we're welcome to any personal thoughts! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hi everyone I hope you're all well. After securing a job in Penrith NSW myself and my fiancé are looking at accommodation starting in Jan 2017. As my partner has a labouring background we were looking at residing in Parramatta thinking he may be able to get a job on site in Sydney. I've scrolled through some previous posts and it seems that Parramatta has and is still developing rapidly. Does anyone have any recent thoughts on the neighbourhood and advice regarding transport to Penrith from Parramatta and also Parramatta to Sydney CBD? Many thanks Jade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi everyone's thanks for your advice. I've emailed them and my boss replied "don't stress about it" I love my new job already! Nothing ever seems too much of a big deal! Love the laid back take is easy in your own time outlook, it's really refreshing! Something I need to get used to though, need to shake this too formal approach off! have a nice weekend, Jade
  9. No we aren't citizens yet, that's a work in progress, we do have PR with our 189 visas though so a few yeas down the line who knows!! I just don't want to look unprofessional on my first day, they've provided me a list that I need to take, visa, driving licence etc, and TFN is first on the list. Just don't want them thinking I'm not organised but is there really no way other way around it? If so i'll have to explain prior to the 30th Jan. Thanks Bungo your're a star!
  10. Hi everyone, hope youre all well. Just wondering if anyone could assist, I need my TFN for a job I start on 30th Jan however wont be flying out until a few days before my start date. We have friends in Sydney who have offered their postal address however midway though the application online it requests that I need to be available 28 days after applying for an interview? Can anyone offer any help of guidance? Many thanks, as always!!:cute:
  11. Hi Guys! After my previous posts, I can confirm that I am now in Oz on our validation visit of one month!! As I write this post we are in our airbnb apartment in Perth. I just have one query. We used the epassport service when entering the country, therefore I received no "stamp" in my passport. I ran this by the passport and immigration staff and they confirmed that as I had passed the security that was as the validation done. I'm not sure if I'm a little old school but do you think we should have really received a stamp? We are due to visit Sydney on Sunday so may query this then. Just wondered if anyone validated their visa electronically without gaining a stamp? Many thanks in advance, Jade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Hi Cal, I understand that it is the insurance required so that I can carry out some placement type work at a local authority. I'm willing to do this unpaid, so not sure if that why it is required? Apparently colleges and schools etc usually send them over for their students when they carry out placements with them so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to obtain one, lets watch this space! Any one with any help whats so ever I really appreciate. Thanks again, Jade
  14. Just to bump this one up! I've been told I need to obtain a Certificate of Currency. Does anyone know how I can get hold of one of these? Thanks again.

  19. Good afternoon, I hope you are well! Myself and my fiancé will soon be completing our 189 visa validation visit in August 2016 - September 2016. During this time we hope to complete the necessary Medicare and Bank arrangements and I have also been contacting possible employers for some work experience. I have filled in the Medicare application form and have also contacted them for clarification on the issues below, to no avail. Could anyone please advise? We hope to have all the relevant documents including our enrolment form, our passports, our visas and our visa lodgement acknowledgement however I was wondering what additional documents we would need to support the application? In their email it states that "supporting documents for your application – sponsorship information, permission to work or evidence of relationship (ie marriage/children" It states in our 189 skilled visas what we are able to do work wise, does anyone know what else would be required? Furthermore, as we will not have a permanent address during our stay can anyone advise on what address to use? ie. the apartment we are staying or our UK address? Any help is much appreciated, Jade
  20. Good afternoon, I hope you are well well! Myself and my fiancé will soon be completing our 189 visa validation visit in August 2016. During this time we hope to "DIY" drive some of the East Coast namely from Brisbane to Cairns. Taking approximately 10 days. I have compared a few car hire sites but seem to be getting stung with the one way hire. Can anyone advise me on any affordable car hire companies or companies that offer the DIY drive with their vehicles? Any help is much appreciated, Jade
  21. Good afternoon, I hope you are well! Myself and my fiancé will soon be completing our 189 visa validation visit in August 2016. During this time we hope to complete the necessary Medicare and Bank arrangements and I have also been contacting possible employers for some work experience. I have been asked quite a few times what insurance I will have and have recently been asked to provide a copy of the policy. Can anyone advise on the best insurance to take? I was obviously going to purchase normal travel insurance but I understand that I may need to have some more specific cover for working/ placement days. Any help is much appreciated, Jade
  22. Thanks Oz, I appreciate that. I know exactly where you are coming from and know you're not being mean- just honest. Truth hurts! His mum literally lives minutes away so we've never seen the need to change anything. We are genuine and all our friends can submit some sort of a statement I suppose? But we haven't got a great deal of varied evidence. We are both god parents to my godchild, which I thought last night could be used as evidence? I'm clutching at straws. I'm going to wait until August until I resubmit my EOI so I have the bank statement I'm just thinking of additional evidence which doesn't look trivial?! Holidays is a good one I suppose although we've been together since 2010 we didn't go on holiday together until 2011, so that's the first "real" evidence I suppose. Has anybody got any advice on this? Thanks guys [emoji4]
  23. Cheers Oz! Much appreciated! Tax records etc for my fiancés documents go to his mums? There's not a great deal to prove we live together? Paperwork wise we've only got the bank account? Which has only been opened since Aug? When paying my parents rent i withdraw in cash? The only evidence I can think of is; Holiday confirmation DIY rent book Photographs Personal statement by ourselves Car insurance both insured on the shared car although it's registered in his name? We never thought to change the address of his passport or job correspondence 1 because we have to pay and 2 because he picks his post up weekly so would always receive correspondence. It's so hard [emoji17] We are genuinely trying to save! That's why we literally live in my bedroom which after 3 years is getting a struggle? If only you could get a visa based on determination! Any more thoughts on proof is much appreciated guys?
