  1. Sure. I did a diploma in an engineering course while minoring in business. That gave me a couple of exemptions for my accounting degree that i did in UWA. thats it.
  2. Yes that isn't a problem, i too had exemptions for my degree from a previous diploma, i had to submit the transcripts for the diploma as well but that was it. So in your case just present the transcript for the technical course along with your acca transcript itself. Call them to check if necessary, but this is hardly a big issue don't worry. Assessments are normally more of a concern when points for working experience is needed. I personally went with ICAA due to its fast track option which i needed at the time(its was only an extra $50 anyways), but for regular service you can't go wrong with either. Pepsi and coke as they say.
  3. Had this question when i was doing my assessment, however i was more concerned with cost and speed. Thats really the only difference with the two. In regards to positive outcomes the both institutions have similar, if not identical for skill assessments. The question has been asked multiple times before in past years, even on other forums, you won't get a different answer, no matter how many times you ask. You only need 9/12 modules its pretty easy target if you've done your course proper. So don't worry and just have a go at it mate.
  4. Haha yeah really stoked, have already started planning the move. If there's anyone in the thread that hasn't gotten their's yet despite having all docs or have a co allocation, give the GSM office a call (not dipb, they can only view and advise, not work on the application itself.)
  5. After waiting for enough time, i decided to give the adelaide office a call to ask about my application. The officer said stoutly, "I'll look into it" and ended the call. I got the grant 30 minutes later. HAHAHA so yay?!
  6. just curious, a couple days ago my status changed from "Processing- Please wait for the department to contact you" to just "Processing", the former being what it was since the lodgement of my application. I wasn't contacted by a CO yet, probably since i front loaded all, so he didn't bother. But does the change of status indicate that i'll be getting it soon?
  7. Haha, to be fair i did lodge it late into jan so being first would be a stretch. Still it's really unnerving to hear nothing at all, not even a CO allocation. Makes you wonder if it's been forgotten entirely. Especially since now grants have been given to feb applicants. The easter break isn't helping things either!
  8. By the looks of your timeline, i would think you could be right. You had to wait a long time too. hope i get it soon !
  9. i have front loaded everything, and i lodged on the 27th of jan, i haven't heard from CO, whilst others have or have gotten direct grants. Is this a bad sign?
  10. Yes you will be fine as long as the fbi and police check is dated june. Medical you dont need to do anything, they will automatically add it to your application as long as you are using the same immi account. I know this because i did a medical last year to extend my student visa, and it was automatically applied when i lodged my 189 back in jan.
  11. omg me too. will anyone clarify this who had gotten grants previously?
  12. Don't have a CO yet, goodness me. Never mind i have till the 14th, hopefully i get a co or grant(front loaded all) way before then, so i can sort out the situation.
  13. This is for a holiday that i had planned for awhile, its not really related to moving specifically. I won't need a tourist visa, but an ETA(electronic something) due to my country of residence. They are in essence the same thing. I was initially concerned if my applying for a ETA would cause some conflict with my 189 application OZmaniac this really is worrisome, because i lodged on the 27th of jan, and according to the visa tracker (that is now unviewable due to some restrictions?) grants have been given till 25th of jan. Im now really worried about apply for ETA as i may get the grant at any day. Or i might not get it till my flight which is 14th april, who's to say. Is this visa cancellation really true? Im now in a jam. You reckon i should call them?
  14. So i've lodged an offshore application for 189 on the 27th of january. If all goes well i should get the grant by the first week of april. So here's the thing, i have booked tickets, hotels and car rental for 15th of april (this will be a one week holiday). If by chance, i fail to get the grant in time, and apply for a tourist ETA (I'm from a country thats low risk), would that affect my application in any way? Im fine reentering the country later. Or what if i get the grant while in australia on a tourist visa/ETA? Somewhat concerned about this conflict of visas.
  15. omg im so sorry, i mixed you up with what the tread starter said. my bad man, good luck on ielts, took me two tries to get 8. Just mixed up verbs and kept it mostly simple. funny thing is i had 8 for every module so my scores were R8 L8 S8 W8, so i realise i was treading on thin ice.
  16. If you move today you can stay there indefinately, the 5 year duration is your right to travel in or out of australia, but if you enter australia before the expiry date yes its fine, but you won't be able to leave(unless you prove certain requirements to the case officer) before renewing the 5 year portion so be warned. If you leave before renewing you lose pr status, and getting it back will be hard. So yeah you could just stay in aussie for 4 years and get the citizenship
  17. Mate, from your first post it says you have 55points as it is. Just getting 7's for all of them will be sufficient, and more than doable on the first try, even if intoxicated. With all 7's that nets you 10 points which brings the total to 65. I want you to be very clear on this, having more then 60 points will bring you absolutely no benefit, especially since you are a vet. right now vet's occupational ceiling is 60/1000. You have no competition whatsoever. Whether you go in with 65 points or 75 points you would still get the invite on the very first round. If you trying for 8's because you are a high achiever, which i respect, thats great, but spend your energies on work and furthering your vet knowlege is better than some silly ielts cash grabbing test yeah?
  18. It means you have till 2016 to move to australia. according to your sig you got the visa on 03/06/11. So you could enter australia on 01/06/16 if you really wanted to and would be fine. The 5 years relates to the freedom to travel in and out of aussie freely. Think of it as a 5 year passport, for aussie alone. To renew this you would need to stay in australia for 2 years including your 1month, then you can renew for another 5 years. So lets say you go to australia today, and you must remain there, you could renew your PR for another 5 years on feb 2017.
  19. Why would she need to do additional study? Is her law degree which she has already obtained not sufficient? No matter what occupation she does she still needs to get them assessed, albeit different assessment bodies. She said her partner is finishing apprenticeship, so we don't know if he has a degree even.
  20. What Rainicorn said, You already have a degree in law, so use that to get the PR under Barrister. even if your guy doesn't have a degree, or if his qualification's isn't enough to get assessment from engineers australia, you can still get him a pr via defacto. The latter isn't ideal but its a better alternative to training in IT, only to be removed from the sol later. Also note that IT related sol occupations are often pro-rata due to stiff competition. Get the PR, then retrain at a suitable institution with government subsidy, as well as other benefits like free healthcare and, after a waiting period, centrelink(don't abuse this) if necessary. Remember once you become a PR, you can be a barrister or firefighter, it won't matter.
  21. I havent lived in the uk so i may be wrong here, but 100-200 for certifying docs is a tad expensive. Although i did mine in singapore, certifying 10 over pages cost me around 20usd. I think do call up a few notaries/lawyers their price varies greatly. You dont need a good lawyer, a bad one that charges peanuts will suffice as long as he has chop and ink!
  22. just use your phone camera to take shots of your passports etc in color, attach them (transfer to a pc via usb), fill the form and its done. One of the simplest forms to fill when compared to some of the other forms. (form 80?)
  23. Yes i can confirm this to be true, i ringed diac sometime back regarding this very subject. What happens is your points only matter till the point of skill select's invitation for the 189. Once invited, you are invited and thats that. Its only a issue if you fake your birthday to get the extra points at the time of application. Also if you have 65 points, you will defs get the invite on the very first round from lodging your EOI. CPA takes 2-4 weeks i think. So chill out you got this.
  24. most people get their 189 invitations within a month and grants within 3-5 months from entering eoi details into skillselect. Exception are those from high risk countries.
  25. I did icaa and had them certified ($15~). A bit of a pain, didn't know color copies were enough. Do choose the fast track option(extra 50$). i had mine done within 6 working days, so fast. do get your eoi in soon, looks like the occupational ceiling is drawing ever closer for this year.
