  1. Hi, Please do not quote me on this route, however from what I have gleaned from other people it is possible to register with AHPRA if you have a diploma - however only if you do so first via NZ. So, register with NZ nursing council - then through the Trans - Tasman agreement you are then eligible with Aus/AHPRA. I am a degree trained MH nurse, so went the direct route so i have not completed this route. Lots of people have used this approach though. If you have not done so - join this group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1444726832453192/ Good Luck!
  2. Hello everyone, Would be extremely grateful for any info on the below questions I have RE filling out the pleasure that is the APHRA form: Section C: Proof of Identity As I am applying from the UK, which option do I tick here as I am only providing a certified copy of my passport? Section E: Qualification for the profession States that: You must attach a certified copy of all your academic qualifications and examinations/ assessments mentioned in this form. Following assessment of your application, you may be requested to provide further information. Is this JUST a copy of my degree? Or this transcript thing which I keep reading about? Section G: Work History States that: You must attach to your application: a Statement of Service from all of your employers from the past five years, and The last five years for me is 3 years doing my degree, and 2 years in the NHS. Prior to this I worked in IT! Will a statement of Service for the last 2 years covering my NHS job be sufficient? Section H Suitability Statements OMG – what a convoluted affair…….Has anyone gone through the new police checking system that APHRA introduced in Apr??? Seems like more cash to part with and another level of checks that I will also need to duplicate when going for my 189….. SO far all I have done is book my IELTS test for the end of August. I can see why folk use an agent - however all the quotes I have received have been circa £2.5k which I think is rather steep! I WILL get through this! My night shift brain is actually hurting  I have also learned that JP's in Scotland will certify your docs free of charge which is rather nice of them! https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/the-courts/jp-court/signing-documents Thanks for reading..... Gayle
  3. Thanks Tom. I am getting there slowly - going to go down the APHRA route first then a 487 visa for sponsorship thanks to some davice from peeps from here. Its a minefield!! I hope that your last three modules for degree aren't too arduous!! Cheers, Gayle
  4. Hi All, Thank you very much for your replies. I finally feel like I have an action plan and a wee bit of clarity! I have decided to go down the AHPRA Registration first, and then go for a 457 visa. I emailed the NMC a few days ago for a verification pack, so hopefully that will be en route. Thanks for the advice though RE the NMC Jac. Can't say that I am surprised though as they generally do what they want!! So hopefully and fingers crossed I can get APHRA done well before I am 33, which is in October. Many thanks again for your replies. Gayle
  5. Hello everyone, I posted this earlier in jobs and careers but no response, perhaps I posted in the wrong place so would be grateful for any input on this query: I am looking for some advice please, or if any one can point me in the right direction of a post which outlines the required steps in order to get started ( I saw one but of course can't find it now) to apply for going to Oz to do MH nursing. Here is a summary of my situation: I am 32 - I have a degree in mental health nursing and have been qualified for 18 months. I currently work in Forensics, but have some addictions experience as well. I think I am eligible for skilled migration, however find the migration website rather confusing. I am aware that we need to register for our equivalent of our NMC, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC)from what I gather from their form I need to have a Visa in place though before I can apply - is this correct? I keep reading that if you have secondary education you don't need to do the language test, but I am assuming people do to gain further points? I am also aware of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) this is to have your skills validated - when should this part of the process be applied for? My head is full of abbreviations and I'm getting a bit confused :wacko:however keen to start however unsure of correct order of process, so any advice is most appreciated. I have considered calling an immigration agency, however the costs seem a bit eye watering! Thanks for reading. Gayle
