  1. Hi Alan, Could you please shed some lights on how this would affect the first entry after the visa is granted? Does the medical expiration affect that one too ? Our lodgement date is April 30th 2014 and I think the meds were done end of May 2015, so I really hope the visa would be granted by then, but not sure how long will my mom have to enter Aus with that visa due to the very little we have on her meds. Cheers, Nassim
  2. Sorry for replying to an old message. From the above I understand that you should be able to leave the country before your visitor visa expires and your BVA kicks in as long as you have a BVB, and you are good to apply for the BVB before your BVA kicks in. Just wondering does the same apply for single entry visitor visa? This is all so confusing Cheers, Nassim
  3. Let's do a game of "what would be the next date". I hope March 10th, but no earlier than March 5th. Come on Immi bring up the new date!
  4. Hi Kim, I am sorry if what I wrote was not clear. I meant Sep 2013 and March 2014. I don't think there is any announced plans to raise the VAC2 as Alan also mentioned in a very recent post. Cheers, Nassim
  5. We are currently assessing for finalization applications lodged up to 24 February 2014 Date's not moved today. So now it is 23 months till CO instead of 22. Hope I am wrong but as the VAC2 went up in March 2014 ( by the way how many times do they change the VAC2? once in Sep and then once in March ?) there might be a bit of delay in the coming couple of months. I am getting really restless as my mum's application is April 30th, so close and yet too long a wait still!
  6. Hi Alan, Thanks for your information. I think that was my wishful thinking You are right, 18 months is what we expected when we lodged. The checklist thing would have been a great time saver if the processing times were around 18 months, but as you said not the right way to go when the processing times get to 24 months. I also remember when I first decided to lodge my skilled worker visa application, immi had the same checklist approach, but when the processing times started to get longer and longer ( it took 39 months for our 165 visa to be finalised!) and people ended up having to redo med/police checks, the checklist was withdrawn. Cheers, Nassim
  7. Hi Ruby, Previously (at least until my mum lodged 30th of April 2014) you would receive instructions to do you police check/meds and AOS around 1 year after your lodgement date. I think this was because they wanted people to have everything ready for their case officer so the CO would finalise the case as soon as possible. At that time they had shorter processing time (around 1 year). They have since stopped giving instructions for medicals and police checks in the acknowledgement letter due to the fact that they are currently processing cases in 22months to 24 months and they don't want people to have expired Meds/Police checks while their CO is finally assigned. So I think for people who lodged July 2014 onward the only option is to wait for their CO to be assigned. Hope that makes sense. Cheers, Nassim
  8. Looks like they are keeping it steady at 22 months. At least it is not more that 22 months for now so hope it stays that way! (not really hopeful that they will go any quicker)
  9. Hi Phil, Thanks for the reply. My mom is 30th of April 2014 so not much further from you, but we got instruction on getting our medicals and AOS and everything in our acknowledgement letter, received around October 2014. Anyway the good news is that we are moving closer Cheers, Nassim
  10. Hi Phil, May I ask , who requested Medicals and Police checks? Was this your agent, or were you actually contacted by the perth office/case officer? Cheers, Nassim
  11. Another change is they are not saying "please wait another 2-3 months to do medical, police check" and they are not saying "the wait time is 18-22 months". I would say that is a good thing and they are hoping to get it under 18 month again Cheers, Nassim --Edit---- oops there is a whole paragraph regarding this one ... Some clients will have previously been requested to commence medical examinations and police clearances by a specified date and are concerned that these may now become invalid. Once your application is allocated to a case officer documents may be requested to consider the application further. This may include a request to provide medical examinations and police clearances obtained following lodgement of the application. A case officer will assess the suitability of information including the validity of health and character clearances and contact will be made with the applicant or their authorised representative if further information is required. In some instances applicants may be asked to provide updated information. This will be assessed by a case officer and an applicant notified if this requirement applies to them. Thank you for your patience in this matter. Not 100% sure what they are trying to say here.
  12. Woohoo .. fingers crossed they will clear at least a few months in August. I expect it to speed up until March 2014 but we should see some more long waits there as well due to the increase in VAC. And on that OTHELP email, I send one about 6 weeks ago but never heard back Cheers, Nassim
  13. Hi all, Does anyone have any update on the current date for 143 from the department? The automatic emails do not seem to work Cheers, Nassim
  14. Great News, fingers crossed they'll keep up the good work and get to 18 months again Cheers, Nassim
  15. Hi Fran, Thanks for your reply, looks like you were applying for 173>143 on May 2014 so you are well ahead of us:) I should really check with the bank on the interest rate and if it is actually this high just go ahead and lodge the AOS although it may be another good 6 months (or more) before my mom gets the visa (143). I talked to centerlink people extensively about this and they were very helpful. I should be good to lodge the AOS money with the bank within 13 weeks of the AOS application without needing to lodge another AOS application to the centerlink. Thank you very much for the information. Cheers, Nassim
  16. Hi summerdaisy, My mom's application was 30th of April so a month before you and she was also advised to start the AOS process after 30th of April 2015. As I am sure you know it was a very quick process and we applied on May 27th and were asked to lodge the AOS money in less than 2 weeks. I have hold on doing so as the wait times has grown but if you say the interest rate is 4% that is pretty good and more than you can get on any term deposit in Australia. May I ask you where you got that information, from the bank? I take it you did open the account and your AOS process is now done right? Could you also let me know how you made an appointment with the bank, as I tried calling my branch million of times but they just don't pick up and I am too lazy to walk in Cheers, Nassim
  17. Hi maisiedaisy, My mum's lodgement date is around yours (30th April) and we've also got the acknowledgement letter asking us to do the medical, AOS and PCC after certain dates. My main concern is with AOS. I lodged the AOS a week ago ( not knowing about the change of wait from 18 months to 22 months and thinking it would take them very long to get back to me!) and have been contacted by the Department of Human Services telling me that I will be sent a letter to lodge the bank guarantee in 14 days! Looking at the dates ( today processing 28th of August 2013) does not seem our case will be finialised until Januray 2016. What did you do ? Are you holding off AOS for now? Cheers, Nassim
  18. Different teams makes most sense. My mom stayed on the phone for 50 minutes and apparently they said that they can't provide any information by phone! And She was not even asked for her Passport number and name! That is a bit odd I would say.
  19. So apparently what is stated in the automatic reply is just indicative (yesterday they were acknowledging 12th of May). I am 30th of April and not acknowledged and you are 30th of June and acknowledged, lucky you Tony
  20. Thank you for your reply. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, where the automatic email says they should have received acknowledgement but they haven't yet?
  21. Hey guys, Thank you for the very helpful thread. My mom's lodgement date is April 30th 2014, for 143 offshore. But we have not yet got any acknowledgment, has this happened to anyone, although the automatic email says they are acknowledging 12the of May?
