  1. Hi, With the quote you had from the previous thread relating to 60 points not receiving an invite this relates to accountants. For this occupation there is a backlog as the ceiling for applications was reached last year. As a secondary teacher you would not be waiting long for an invite on 60 points, I'd guess between 1-3 invitation rounds. People with more points do get invited first so if you wanted to guarantee an invitation on the next round I would suggest taking the IELTS or Pearson English test to boost your points. If you aren't in a hurry to get your visa I'd just wait it out. If you look at this link you can see that lots of people with 60 points were invited in the August invitation round. http://www.border.gov.au/WorkinginAustralia/Pages/SkillSelect-3-august-2015-round-results.aspx Good Luck
  2. You can get cheap deals on a boat out once you get to Airlie Beach. There are lots of travel shops and they want to fill the boats so you can haggle. I'd recommend going on a trip between 2-3 days and go for a smaller boat, they can try and cram a lot of people on the bigger ones. Haggling is the key to a great deal and play the different travel agents off against each other too x
  3. My placements were Reception, year 1 and then Reception. Did your evidence of your supervised teaching practice state the age ranges that you worked with? It must be very frustrating, I chose Early Years because it was on the SOL too. Good Luck x
  4. Yes my PGCE certificate did state Early Years, it says PGCE primary Early Years foundation and key stage one on it. I did send a letter from my Early years tutor stating what was covered on the PGCE and included a breakdown of how the course related to early years and how the Early Years specific module was assessed. Maybe you could request something similar? It might be worth speaking to a migration agent about it or call AITSL and ask if more evidence about the course would change their view? If you did go for state sponsorship there is only a moral obligation to stay in that state, they can't legally make you stay x
  5. I didn't send any info about my employment either. It makes no sense as to why it was rejected, definitely give them a call. I can totally understand why you are upset but push for answers. Primary teacher isn't on the SOL but is on CSOL but I think that means you need a job offer in certain states, which can be difficult (but not impossible). Don't give up! Hopefully it's just a silly mistake on their part and it can easily be resolved. Fingers crossed for you x
  6. Oh no @Benji1980 did appeal his decision and was successful. I've spoken to people who have called AITSL to get a more detailed explanation as to why they didn't receive a positive assessment. Keep me posted on what you find out, good luck x
  7. Good Luck with AITSL and your IELTS (so many acronyms lol) as @Benji1980 has said you have 12 months to activate your visa from the date of your health check and police check-whichever is the earliest. I won't apply for these until a case officer asks just to give ourselves extra time to activate x
  8. I'm hoping for a September invite too. Only have 60 points but hoping to be one of the lucky ones :-) Good Luck!!
  9. I have just looked at the required documents for a 189 visa as I am hoping to get an invitation in the September round. It says for skilled employment to supply references and payslips etc. If I am not claiming any points for work experience I'm assuming I just need to list my employment for the last 10 years but don't need to supply evidence? Thanks for any help x
  10. No invite here. Hope everyone else was successful :-) xx
  11. Im sure you'll get an invite with 75 points :-) Does anyone know how the criteria works for invitations? I know it's highest points get invited first but what are the other factors? What if most people have 60 points, how is it decided who gets invited in what order? X
  12. I'm hoping for an invite too. 60 points Early Childhood teacher. Fingers crossed for all of us!! X
  13. If you google 'IELTS Liz' I found her website really useful. I was worried about the writing section but there is a formula you need to follow to score high and I stuck to this and scored an 8.5 in writing. Through the forum I have heard that PTE is a fairer test so could be an option especially if your husband is better on the computer compared to handwriting everything. Good Luck! Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get the points x
  14. I applied for Early Childhood teacher it took 3 weeks from the date I posted it for them to acknowledge they had received it, 13 weeks to process and then 1 week to receive my certificate. So a long long wait for me! X
  15. I think you need to wait for it to arrive, mine only took 7 days from the change in the status on AITSL. On the EOI you have to put the date the certificate was issued (which will only be on the certificate). Hopefully it will be with you soon, good luck! X
  16. Thanks for the replies. I filled the EOI in today and only had to supply my own passport details as the main applicant. I have to make an appointment to register my daughters birth and at the moment there's a 2 week wait!!! I've missed the invitation round for this month but will have time to get all of the documents together for when I do receive an invite :-) Thanks again x
  17. Hi all, Well done to those with invites today! Exciting times! I wonder if someone could answer my question..... I have just submitted my EOI today. We have 65 points, is there still a possibility of an invitation before the next round? I drop 5 points next Sunday due to my age and although I'm still in the running with 60 points it would be nice to get an invite with 65 (and I'm very impatient lol). We are applying for a 189 under Early Childhood Teacher x
  18. I found IELTS Liz on you tube useful and she also has a website- just google IELTS Liz x
  19. Just an update I got my skills assessment back today from AITSL and it was positive!! Yay!!!! Just got to get the visa now and then jump through the teacher registration hoops :-) Good Luck to anyone else waiting xx
  20. Hi All, looking for for some advise from those of you that have experience with the EOI form. I received my positive skills assessment today (yay!) so was hoping to fill out an EOI before the next invitation round on 6th July where I will have 65 points. I will drop 5 points next week due to it being my 33rd birthday so would prefer to get it in now. i have one tiny (but very cute) stumbling block in the fact I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 6 days ago so she does not have a birth certificate or passport yet. Are these asked for at the EOI stage? I know there is a form to add dependants on after the visa application but as I have already given birth I don't want to appear to be withholding information at the EOI stage. any help or advice will be much appreciated. thank you
  21. So I have reached the 10 week wait and still haven't heard anything. On the AITSL website when I check my application status it still says assesment in progress. Did this statement change for anyone before they received their result in the post? Has as anyone else had a recent result from AITSL?
  22. Hi, Your 45 days of teaching practice will need to have been part of your degree, the NQT year will not count towards it. You'll need a letter from your Uni stating how many days you did and with which age ranges. Is it you or your partner that will be the main applicant? Primary teacher is not on the SOL but is on the CSOL for some states but I think you need a job offer (which will be hard to do) . I don't want to come across negative because I'm a big believer in where there's a will there's a way!! If you are happy to go rural it can only improve your chances . Good luck!! Xx
  23. For the proof of the 45 days I got the head of the education department at the uni to write a letter. This included the number of days for each placement and the ages of the children. I sent certified copies of all of my transcripts (HND, degree and PGCE) I got these certified by a solicitor but a headteacher can certify as well (I didn't want my head knowing about my emmigration plans just yet) x
  24. AITSL have my application- they say 10 weeks for a decision and that deadline will be next week so fingers crossed I'll hear soon. Will hopefully be putting in a EOI straight away if I get a positive result. Good luck with the application.
  25. It depends on how many points you are claiming and what they are for. I am a teacher with only 1 years teaching experience and I am not claiming points for work experience as I have 65 points without it. Age: 30 points Degree: 15 points IELTS: 20 points Any work experience that is claimed for must be post qualification so I don't think she could use her nursery experience and this would also be classed as a lower level compared to teaching so again may cause an issue. Her nursery experience will come in handy when applying for registration with ACECQA if she would like to teach Early Years once in Australia. X
