  1. Hi Zoe, AHPRA is basically NMC - the Oz registering body. They are being a little to deal with at the moment in registering overseas. You will be fine if you have caseloaded as part of your degree and it is in your transcript. But it does take a long time to come through so make sure you do that well in advance. If you just want to do 2 years in Australia for definite and youre under 30 you could maybe come on a holiday visa, but if ahpra require you to be supervised for 3 months (if you didnt caseload 10-20 as a student) then you might find it difficult on that visa to find agency work willing to support you. You could however come on a 457 visa which is a 4 year sponsored visa where the hospital will support any supervision and sponsor you to come (you still pay for air fares, accommodation etc), the drawback is that its a temporary visa and you are tied to the place of work and you have to be full time. If you go on the immigration website there is a visa questionnaire which you answer questions and itll tell you the most suitable. Hope that helps, Becky
  2. Was just woken by a gentle ping of my email... And guess what... We have our grant!!! Literally so excited and relieved. Today we book our flights and the adventure continues - scary scary exciting stuff!! Thank you everyone who has given me help and advice, if I can do it with no agent anyone can
  3. Hi there, Im under Addelaide 23 also - they asked for more docs which I uploaded onto immiaccount rather than emailed. I have emailed them though letting them know Ive done that so I hope its right. If your time line is anything to go by I may have another few weeks to wait yet. Im getting impatient because Ive seen flights I reallllllyyyyyy am tempted to book mid Jan but NO I must be sensible and wait
  4. Still waiting too..... Email reload, reload, reload, sleep 2 hours, reload, sleep another 2 hours, reload.... Aaargh!!!
  5. I'm right there with you Whites, I've uploaded everything they've asked for so a long weekend for us followed by no sleep from Sunday night!
  6. Thanks very much, we are very excited, although slightly gutted I hadn't realised they needed the full ones as maybe got direct grant if I'd have done it properly - never mind at least it's in process! I did it online for my sons and it said priority so ordered that, husband rang his local registry and they sent it out today for £8 less!! Anyone know their case office/r - we are Adelaide 23, looks like a slower team according to the tracker (if it's to be believed), I'm wondering after uploading the remaining docs what the wait is likely to be?
  7. Well we have case officer. They have requested full birth certificates of my husband and kids. The ones I uploaded do not show parents names. Does anyone know how I get these relatively quickly or what I should do? I have full certs for 2 of my kids, but one of them and my husband we only have the normal ones
  8. Do visa grant emails tend to come in the night?? Lets just say I'm not getting much sleep awaiting a pinggggggg
  9. I have never checked my email so much!! Have a feeling it could be weeks yet though
  10. Ours is in storage with Fox Removals and we completed all the paperwork there for it to be sent but unsure if they can collect from home? Is it all boxed up or is it specific items. There must be a way of doing it. It is part of a container, 7m3 for around £1100 including insurance.
  11. I am also on tender hooks waiting! Could be any day, could be weeks!! We already sold out house and are waiting in a holiday let but have still accumulated a whole load more rubbish to either ditch, ship or charity. My husband has to clean his tools ready to ship, the main container is ready to go though. So basically need to book flights, book holiday let, pack gets and get outta here
  12. Hi there, we are coming to Perth. Where about in Perth are you and what jobs do you do? We heard there's a massive downturn in mining/FIFO there and my electrical/mechanical engineer husband could struggle to find work... We are still dreaming of that pool but worry it'll be out of reach.
  13. Wow so excited for you!! Congratulations! When are you planning to make the big move and which part? I hope ours goes as smoothly, I'm a midwife and want to move to Perth straight after new year.
  14. I hope it's normal because we are definitely feeling it too! The excitement has waned somewhat and I'm entering a major period of panic. There's just so much to do and to think about, I guess I naively thought that would add to the excitement when the reality is that with 3 kids and no job, it's just super stressful and yes doubts start to creep in here and there.
  15. Found it! Sorry, had long since forgotten about skillselect! Yes mine says LODGED... my EOI has been suspended because I have lodged, wow... its totally happening!
  16. EOI Page? where is this if not on immiaccount? Ill have a look at mine. The waiting is tough!
  17. My status says 'In Progress'. But under application type it says applicated submitted and the date 23rd Sept (the date we applied and paid). I think our timelines are similar MatthewRoberts but you are slightly ahead, am I right?...
  18. What do you mean by fund?? I was under the impression hospitals will employ midwives in the knowledge they need supervision? Surely it doesn't mean working for free?? If you aren't employed you wouldn't be covered by insurance which would invalidate ahpra anyway or am I misunderstanding you? Thanks
  19. Just wondered really as I hear lots of people from the Isle of Man have made the move.
  20. I agree. I hope it doesn't affect employability but also the pay! And as a part-timer it's going to feel like forever!
  21. Thing is... They aren't in the EU so they don't care about that. They can have their own rules and of course we want to move there and should respect that... HOWEVER.... I think once they realise they can't employ from overseas any more they will soon change it. The hospitals won't be able to support that many needing supervision and the bank numbers will rapidly reduce as no one will be able to go as working holiday or anything as it's not conducive to completing their requirements. It's very sad that ANMAC and AHPRA are singing from different sheets. I have applied for my PR visa (and paid for it) so effectively I can come over and live off benefits there (if I so wished - not my idea of emigration fun though!) more likely they will let me in as a midwife but will be miserable working full time or I just wasted over 5k putting in my application!?
  22. Very rude when you consider their training was based on ours as is their entire midwifery led model of care!
  23. So basically all UK and European midwives are going to need supervising as it's not in our syllabus.... That's ridiculous!
  24. Ok. I may send them a lot of stuff I had experience wise, statements etc just to see if that helps
