  1. So today I received an email with the great news that I'm eligible to register! I'm a UK DipHE trained mental health nurse, so I've been registered with conditions of supervision - mostly its just saying I must be supervised in my practice for 12 months by someone who has been registered with AHPRA for 2 years with no conditions on their registration. I also have to complete an 'assessment' after 12 months to assess my performance against the National Competency Standards for RNs. Still having to jump through AHPRAs hoops but at least I've got my registration after a year of waiting! Hopefully this signals more good news to come for those waiting on their registration. Good luck to everyone waiting - I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you all. Thanks for all your support Joe
  2. There may be some hope at last for UK diploma nurses (from mental health, childrens and learning disability nursing branches...) This has been uploaded on the NMBA website under the FAQ section and I have also been following AHPRA's twitter feed which confirms this. Take a look at question 9 on the following link http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Codes-Guidelines-Statements/FAQ/FAQ-IQNM-migration.aspx I hope this helps with some peoples worries/anxieties - I'm currently awaiting an outcome from my application, it went to the NMBA board on the 07/08 and I was told I would have an outcome in 2-3 weeks but AHPRA now have a backlog of getting the outcomes sent out (shocking I know...), I don't think I've ever come across a government body with as many backlogs as AHPRA! Here's hoping for positive results for everyone. Joe
  3. Hello All! I'm in a similar situation, I'm currently in Perth working as an NA at the hospital that will employ me when (and if!) my AHPRA registration comes through. I'm an advanced diploma trained nurse from the UK, I applied in Oct/Nov last year and received a request for further information for criterias 2,3,5,6 and 8. I have supplied this info and this has been confirmed with AHPRA that they've got everything they need regarding those criteria. I'm a bit confused after reading the posts on here that other diploma trained nurses are being refused (so sorry guys, I'm devastated for you). Surely if AHPRA regarded my qualification as lower than an Australian bachelor degree they would have asked for further information regarding criteria 4 which states that the my qualification needs to be 'equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree (registered nurse) as a minimum.'? I will be speaking to the highest up person I can possibly speak to in AHPRA if they refuse my registration as I have been told I need to provide further information on 5 different criteria and then they refuse me on one they didn't request any information for?! Did any of you guys who got refused get asked for extra info on criteria 4? Thanks Joe
  4. I meant to write 'everything (but my registration with ahpra) is in place so when my AHPRA comes back (hopefully an acceptance!) my 457 visa application can be lodged.' Anyone had recent acceptance/rejection from AHPRA in the same circumstances?
  5. I'm currently waiting on my AHPRA registration, have been sponsored by a hospital in WA and everything (but my registration with AHPRA) and keep receiving the same email from my case officer when I ask for an update - 'your application is receiving attention and your patience is highly appreciated' etc. Anyone had any update on applications not granted prior to the new assessment process coming in? I'm a UK trained Mental Health Nurse with a 3 year diploma.
