Hi Pinkestlady! It's only 3 months on paper! Been waiting over 18 Months over here for the 189. Decided to move on with my life long ago.... LOL!
-
It's been over 1 year since I lodged for the 189 visa for my family. Been betting on getting the grant before end of 2014 to no avail. Guess life has got to move on.... If it could delay over a year, it could as well delay over three... or forever. The Australian dream and excitement has faded away. Now enrolling for my PhD in Computer Science.

Congratulations!!!!

Hi Syed Ashar, Could you kindly post your timeline? Seems we are in the same boat..... Regards, D

Should be pretty fast for UK applicants!!! A couple of weeks I'd guess..

My application has also taken well over 1 year... Called up DIBP on Monday 20th October, 2014 and they told me that my application was complete ie. I have provided all documents that they have requested for, but the application is undergoing checks (The Nature of which they cannot reveal to me).... The waiting is tormenting, especially when other applicants in my region/country have already been granted their visas.. It's hard to make big career/life decisions when a big part of your hopes are pegged on Migration and a visa. After a year of waiting... the anxiety grows into frustration and you get tempted to just move on with your life and / or make entirely new plans altogether. The Question is: Is it really worth the wait?

Hi gngaz. I contacted them via email a month ago and got the standard (automated) reply... mandatory checks etc.... Getting a lot of stress from this situation.

Not sure. Last week, I made contact with my CO and was told that the application is still undergoing mandatory checks. Seems we are in the same boat with at least 2 other Kenyan applicants. Though, I thought that Meds/PCC are always requested when mandatory checks are over?

Still waiting and waiting... I think ours is going to break the record for the longest wait for a 189 Visa on this forum... By Saturday 13th September, 2014, it will be officially and exactly 1 year (12 Months ) since I lodged my 189 Family visa... Been really eager and excited about this whole thing but my hopes are starting to fade away really fast.

@kellyv. Nope. There was absolutely no problem with the Meds or PCC. They were all cleared on 27th June 2014. Starting to wonder if its worth the waiting after all. Its now roughly 1 year since I lodged the visa application. Life has got to move on, you cannot wait forever..... I mean, a lot can happen within one year. Just got a big promotion at work and starting to wonder if it will really be worthwhile to immigrate after all.......Damn! :skeptical:

Still waiting here....... Now going into the third month after Meds/PCC Were requested and submitted! I thought that a request for meds/pcc means that both internal and external checks should be complete ie. Decision ready applications? Hhmmmmmm

Hi @ smh! How long did it take from the time you received a request to undergo Meds/PCC to the time you got your visa granted? Regards, D -
Delays in Granting (African) 189 Visas even after MEDS/PCC?
dangargoyle replied to dangargoyle's topic in Visa Chat
Ok @Adam Grey! Though I assume that there shouldn't be much delay after the MEDS/PCC Request and submission of the same? Once Health and Character concerns are OKAYed, and all documents submitted, what could be the reason for more delays? -

HR Means High Risk Country -
I notice that processing for 189 visas is moving quite fast for some regions eg. UK and India based applications. Most UK/Indian Applications are taking an average of 3 months from Application Submission to Visa Grant. African cases seem to be dragging for too long and most are taking over a year (1 Year ) to process. Delays are evident even after getting the request to undergo Meds/PCC. Could there be a good reason behind this? Regards, D :skeptical:

Meds/PCC finalized in June! Additional docs were requested by the CO and uploaded on 10th July 2014. Been waiting ever since for my 189 Family visa. Now things are getting really complicated here. It's a very long story, but basically, some crazy people are threatening to Kill me, cant report to the police because - yes they are involved (third world), things are totally stuck at my workplace and all I can think of is "When will I get onto that plane?". I'm getting desperate. Need to get this visa and get the hell outta here before things blow up. Damn! :arghh:
