  1. I think unless you have a valid visa, doesn't matter what you do, who you are, still "illegal staying". Not sure what is going on your life, but if you are married to oz citizen, you still need to get a partner visa or such to stay here anyway. And in your case, immigration would suspect your marriage if it is genuine or not as your application was rejected once now.
  2. What about West coast? anyway... I went to Cairns last year in Sep as well with my partner. We stayed in Cairns city and hired a car for day trips. Cape Tribulation was looks great but can't be a day trip, it was quite far and Daintree is good place to see together, so you need two or more days for the area. We also went to Table land, that was good day trip but you need a car... Anywhere you want to go (except ocean!), you need a transport. Hiring car would be cheaper than joining tours... We paid $400 for 6 days rental (hyndai elantra or something) Also, if you stay in Cairns for a week or so, you don't need to book tours before arriving there... check weather everyday and schedule where you go if possible. Especially if you are going to dive/snorkeling to Great barrier reef, 15nots or more wind would make you sick ...
  3. One of my workmate had a similar situation. In his case, he hadn't been asked "withdraw", and received a "refused" letter, so he lost all cost after waiting 12 months. Due to rejected the visa application, he has to go out from Aus to put new application (he was told once your application is cancel/refused, you can only apply from offshore). He now needs travel fee for whole family (wife and two kids) and another visa fee including medical etc... Also put MRT for staying in Aus, it cost another $1500 or something... Not cheap at all, but leave visa issue on your record will cost more in your future/visa.
  4. i saw a couple who just arrived from UK at a property viewing day (rent). The agent said there weren't any issue to rent the house if you pass the assess which is the same as locals, like your previous property references in UK. Because you are newly arrival, more likely you can get a rent with proving the finance situation as others said If you start finding a place to live, you should be better to consider the work place too ... some dodgy areas would be hard to get a job, transport troubles etc
  5. In my case (RSMS, 2 years ago), when they sent me the lodge notification e-mail, they taken money from my credit card. It was about 2 nights after lodged. When I saw people's timeline on their comment, money taken time was vary, however, if you can't afford the payment, of course your application won't be accepted. you should possess the visa fee at least. Medical or other cost can be later.
  6. I took ielts 3 times, and every time i was the last one on the list, as I lived really close to the exam place... so 3-4 hours waiting. the exam time may vary if people are speaking too short, or long. My turns were always 10 mins earlier than my "scheduled" time tho. >During the test, it seemed like she was trying to catch up on the time, I'm told it almost turned in to a competition to see who could speak the fastest. They aren't try the time shorter or longer. when i spoke the 2 mins story (part 2), she cut off exactly 2 mins as the section should not be excessively long. other part is the same. part 3, they checked time. my first ielts speaking, the examiner stopped me to speak ("she started saying "thank you, that is all your speaking test") during I was answering. I didn't think it wasn't fair. As everyone has about 15mins (20?) max for the speaking test anyway. Examiner checks stop watch all the time during test>. Part one should be done by 6mins (for example), part 2 should be done 12 mins, finish all test by 15mins etc etc, they must have rules...
  7. wow, that is really expensive! i didn't check the actual paperwork when i wrote it, so not sure exact price, but not excess $500 anyway... insurance (health) etc, many things are cheap in wa actually... (not house/ rent tho!)
  8. what you need to pay for are ... First cost... car - price shown at car yards:P plus options (tint windows, paint protection etc etc) Rego fee - depend on car size. sometimes including into car price (if it is brand new) stamp duty- you may be better to ask how much it would be! for me, i bought 2nd hand $13000 then about $400 ... not remember well but not cheap! 2ndly cost... maintenance fee - minor check about $100-150, major check -$150-$250, but if you go to service to genuine dealer, normally $200-$400. There is not compulsory but recommended every 6 months or 10,000km in this country. petrol insurance - here in australia, insurance is for a car i drive nissan micra 2012 model, petrol about $120 for a month (I put 95), service every 6 months $220 each (to nissan service), rego about $380 for a year, insurance is $350 for a year at the moment.
  9. congratulation! so happy to hear you didn't give up after an agent advice. when I applied, no other people around me didn't search immi info themselves but rumors (it was between big changes period) and some gave up and went home.
  10. Yeah.. I'm aware of movin issues... at least it's better if I but from pro(not like gumtree) as they know how to treat fridges... Less damage I think.
  11. i thought the same, but asblossom79 said, the 485 page shows diploma or even trade qualification can apply for 485.... it confuses me as well, as some of my trade mate gave up their way to get a visa after their graduation ... The Australian study requirement In the six months before you apply, you must meet the Australian study requirement. You meet this requirement if you can satisfy us that you have completed one or more degrees, diplomas or trade qualifications for award by an Australian educational institution as a result of a course(s): that is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). for which all instruction was conducted in English that were completed as a result of total of at least two academic years (92 weeks) study that were completed in a total of at least 16 calendar months that have been undertaken while you were in Australia as the holder of a visa authorising you to study. English language proficiency courses or enabling programs cannot be used to meet the Australian study requirement. See also: Post study work arrangements Graduate Work stream Requirements for this visa include: you nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List your visa application included evidence that you had applied for a skills assessment for your nominated skilled occupation by a relevant assessing authority your skills have been assessed by a relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated skilled occupation ('suitable skills assessment’) if your skills were assessed on the basis of a qualification obtained in Australia while you held a student visa, the qualification must have been obtained as a result of studying a CRICOS-registered course you have met the two-year Australian study requirement in the past six months each degree, diploma or trade qualification used to meet the Australian study requirement is closely related to your nominated skilled occupation. My understanding now is, not all 2 years course but if your occupation is on sol, you can apply 485...
  12. i am going to move into a house this weekend with my partner we are looking for a second hand fridge,,, but not sure how we select it. check seals and noise, working condition (cold enough), but anything else we should care about? looking for 400-500l size, 2nd hand at fridge and washing world (?) was about $350, roughly 10 years old. it seem ok but if the fridge life was not much longer than 10 years, it will waste the money... we budget $500 for a fridge atm. any tips for shopping fridge are helpful! thanks
  13. when i saw banana price in 2006 .... it was $36 kg in Margaret river, WA, due to cyclone. someone need to buy to support farmers.. but the ridiculous price never attract customers ,,, then farmer were struggle ...

  15. Thanks. i don't think nothing worry about unless I disappear from work without notice etc. i thought company needs to finish up(immi wants to know if it is genuine etc) the sponsor by another paperwork. thanks all
  16. yeah, mine was the same. I do not worry about the paper work for myself tho. what my employer said was, "you need paperwork after 2 years, right?" -no, I am already PR. "... why your visa is different from others? (total 6 people applied RSMS at the same time, but granted different time)" - no, everyone should be the same ....??? my letter said I am a PR. " you confuse me" - you confuse me, boss! he didn't do any paperwork himself, but other admin did and they talked about visa occasionally. one work mate failed this time as he should apply to transit stream from 457, and now he has to wait to re-apply until some kind of paperwork done by employers (as many of us are currently sponsored by the employer, not sure about this). he might talk about this ... not sure....
  17. whole WA is classed as regional http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/187.aspx check here under "who could get this visa?" tab. and here http://www.immi.gov.au/employers/rsms_postcodes.htm
  18. my employer told me that it is required another paper work to be PR after 2 years from RSMS visa granted . I think it is wrong as Ive received the paperwork (PDF file through e-mail) from immigration which said I am now PR blah blah blah when my RSMS was granted. I assume the company needs to fill some kind of paper for themselves (to prove employment???) after 2 years, but do anyone know what happen on you or your employer when your employment has been done for 2 years? my boss talked about this occasionally and i didn't aware of this, so both of us were confused sometimes... it is nothing urgent, just curious....
  19. i don't know where you go and work, but at least my current workplace ask everyone (unless you are oz citizen) to bring passport, get the copy of it and also check visa status through VEVO. Most employers know that immi don't provide visa label anymore. So I'd say you should bring your passport, otherwise you can't prove your work rights etc include your ID too.
  20. 4 years !!! congratulation, hope you hear good news soon. but how come they are so slow... they accept the number of migrants and can't process them
  21. my workmate is waiting for the nomination too, he (my employer) sent the application in end of Nov or early Dec 2013, and still no reply yet. he applied a few years ago for the same visa and got reply quickly, so he was disappointed and had to change his air tickets due to the delay....
  22. you heard the news from your agent's "office" ... so I hope your case is allocated to other agent worker ... it may be worth that you ask to the office if someone else in the office continue to follow up your case... good luck
