  1. Ok, thanks @paulhand Was hoping to avoid the costs, but I guess it's the best we can do at the moment.
  2. Looking for some advice. We have a relative staying with us (British Citizen), but lives in South Africa. She came into Australia on an ETA which is now nearing expiry. She is unable to return back to South Africa due to the travel restrictions. What should we be doing to extend her stay lawfully?
  3. I don't think you have to worry about changes to the SOL this time around. Only a couple of additions, no removals. http://www.immi.gov.au/News/Pages/changes-csol-sol.aspx
  4. I could be wrong, but I think points only help you with the invitation. Once you've got an invitation and apply, then I'm not so sure that points play a role at all. I know of a couple people waiting longer than you. It does appear to me that applications with agents are taking longer, which is very strange. I've got a very small sample size though. Hang in there! I hope you hear back soon!
  5. Thanks all! It is still sinking in, but it is a huge relief! I can stop checking Immi and SOL lists daily now! Good luck to the others. I hope your wait is over soon.
  6. Thanks Dannielle24. I really hope you get your grant soon. This isn't really the thread for it, but I really think you should get to the bottom of why yours is taking so long. Do you have all of the important numbers so you can query Immi yourself? I'm not clear on the specifics of your application, but if it was me, I'd be very upset with my agent because it simply doesn't make any sense that your application is taking so long. Or you must be very unlucky and they are doing some complex referral process.
  7. Yes. I got the grant just over a month after lodging. It went much faster than I expected. I am very lucky. I expected to wait at least another month.
  8. Nope. That isn't conservative at the moment. You can see in my timeline it basically took 12 weeks for me to get my results.
  9. It took 28 days after the initial request for more documents PCC and Medicals for me to get my grant. So you get 28 days to supply the documents and then they check them after 28 days expires. That's my experience of how it works.
  10. I received my grant today! :jiggy: Good luck to everybody! Thanks to everybody on this fantastic forum for the help and support.
  11. Not sure, but I've heard reports that the CO will only check things once the 28 day time limit has elapsed. So 28 days after the information request, they will look into your case again. I'm in the same position. The wait is a bit frustrating. I'll be able to tell you in a few days, because I was asked to for PCC and Medicals on 20 May. Which means the 28 day expiry for me will be this week.
  12. @dangargoyle You can setup your signature by clicking "Settings" in the top right corner when logged in. Then you will see a "Edit signature" link under "My Settings" on the left hand side. Good luck!
  13. Seems to vary massively from what I can tell. Some poor folk like @Dannielle24 have submitted everything upfront and have been waiting months without even knowing if they've got a Case Office. I'm in a similar situation to you @dangargoyle. My CO requested PCC and Medicals on 20 May. My PCC was uploaded 2 June and my medicals were uploaded 9 June. Now we wait. Apparently, the CO only looks at the documents after the 28 day deadline. So I don't expect to hear anything until 17 June earliest which is roughly 28 days from when the CO requested the documents.
  14. Uploaded my medicals 09 June. So now everything that CO asked for is uploaded. Now the wait! @Robbouk 1. I wasn't asked for Form 80 either. It is discretionary. They could still ask for it, but I'm hoping that in my case they don't. 3. I would only upload any proof you used for ACS and the qualifications you are claiming points for. I did not upload any of my junior qualifications. Only my degree which I used in ACS and which I claimed points for.
  15. I completed my Medicals on 31 May. I phoned the hospital today to find out when they would be uploaded to ImmiAccount. Apparently, they have already been uploaded on 6 June. I can't see this when I login to ImmiAccount. Is this normal or does it take a few days for them to show up? Or should I be worried that something has gone linked up properly?
  16. I've applied without an agent @jen140977, I've not received my grant yet, but I hope to receive it in the next month or two. I'm basically at the final stage now with medicals uploaded. I think like most things, it depends on the individual circumstances. My application was only for myself and was pretty straightforward. There is a lot of research involved and a lot of edge-cases and subtleties around certain parts of the application, but if you are an organised person willing to put in the effort, then there is no reason you cannot apply without an agent. I found most of the work to be gathering work references for my ACS Skills assessment. Once I had that submitted and approved, then the actual 189 Visa application was not much more to be honest. Only IELTS, Police Clearance and Medicals. All the other docs are basically the same docs that I had to submit with my ACS Skills assessment. However, if you are short on time and would rather leave the details to a professional, then I imagine that you would find some value in using a migration agent. I personally think I'm a bit of a control freak, so I want to know what is going on with each stage of the application, so I don't think a migration agent would work for me.
  17. Good news! I'm waiting for my medicals to be uploaded and then the waiting starts for real I guess.
  18. I've just uploaded my Police Clearance Certificate. I had my medicals done on Saturday, hopefully they will upload the results this week.
  19. I expect that we'll be getting news of any changes by mid-June, but this is purely my guess. They can't really bring changes into effect without giving a bit of a heads up to all of the migration agents and potential applicants. But then again, they can! If there isn't any rush, wait a couple of days. If you get some news, then maybe you can start planning a bit earlier.
  20. Generally, the update comes into effect 1 July every year. So it looks like 1 July 2014. http://www.governmentskills.com.au/news/29-cross-sector/152-skilled-occupation-list-sol However, I think that any changes will be announced a bit before then, but they will take effect from 1 July. My 2 cents: At this stage, unless the processing time for CPA is very quick, holding off until you hear about any changes makes sense. Otherwise you won't get an EOI submitted in time.
  21. You've lodged in May, so of course you've made it! Welcome to the club! Good luck!
  22. @alimansoor I think this is probably off-topic for this thread. I think you should create a new thread for this type of question or look in the archives if it has been asked before.
  23. Got confirmation from ACPO that they have received my application for Police Clearance. I went for the Premium service. So 2 business days. Hopefully I can upload to Immi on Tues/Wed next week.
  24. Congrats on the grant @donaldouk I send off my Police Clearance tomorrow and medicals booked for Wednesday.
  25. Well, I don't think it has anything to do with me. I guess it is random? I've got no idea really. I was watching your progress in the other thread Dannielle24 and I saw how long it was taking for the March and April gangs, so I presumed I would have a similar wait. I didn't front load everything, so maybe it all equals out in the end because I need to arrange medicals and police clearance which takes a week or 2. 8 weeks is very long for you to wait without hearing anything. I hope they've not lost your application or anything? When are you allowed to question if things are going ok? I hope you hear something soon.
