Think we're going to get them when we're out there as we don't know if we'll be in Melbourne when it happens so don't want to waste the money. That sounds like a plan with the chair and beer! We're from England too, in the midlands

Hey, usually it's about $5000 dollars they say if you have no return ticket, but people have said they have been with less. When do you fly to Melbourne?

I land in the 18th feb in Melbourne with my parnter, staying at space for 10 days then taking it from there. Tbh I can't remember tr names of the ones I've seen but found quite a few in the region of £150-£200, cover for medical baggage etc, various activities and stuff.

I'm in the same situation too, it's the only thing I have left to sort out aswell

Our visas got accepted the same day we applied and that through the aus gov site, so pretty quick tbh. As for money just save save save, the more the better incase you struggle to find work, at least you can survive on your savings.

I'm sure there's other various work that's classed as regional work, check on the aus gov site, pretty sure it tells you what's classed and what regions

Me and my partner both got the male and female berghaus jalan backpack, opens pretty much all the way like a suitcase, also has an extra small backpack that detaches for when your just wanting to head out for the day. Read reviews and it seems to be quite popular due to being well made and not breaking/ripping etc

How do you register for Medicare over here? As me and my partner are heading to Oz in 5 weeks time

Just had my visa accepted, paying off my flights on Wednesday, then all we need to do is sort out some travel insurance, tax file, and bank account. Can't wait now, 11 weeks to go! Excited!

Hey onwardsorupwards, jealous you have gone to SE Asia. We were looking at doing that but thought we would save our money for Oz and maybe do that inbetween or something along those lines. Myself and my partner are from coventry in the West Midlands, nothing great here hence wanting to make the move and see what the world has to offer. Where are you from? You will have to keep us updated with how things go when you get out there and possibly meet up for a drink and share some tips/advice to get us going

That will be a great feeling handing in your notice, can't wait to hand mine in in December. What's this airbnb? Seen it mentioned about on various forums. I understand what you mean, can be daunting especially if you are travelling on your own, but then again everyone is I'm the same boat so could be a good way to make friends etc! Out plan atm is to spend the first few nights in a hostel in our own room and get to know the surrounding and chill out, then get looking for regional work as I really want to get the second year visa sorted ASAP as my long term plan is to emigrate to Oz! But just have to see how it pans out.

Hey guys and girls, me and my partner are heading out to Melbourne on the 16 Feb next year on our WHV. Counting down the days now.
