  1. Thanks guys!! As I haven't been asked I shall not fill it in - a positive given how much people seemingly hate it!!! Thanks again, teacherben
  2. Hi guys, Just a quick question about Form 80!! Do I need to fill it in?? I hadn't uploaded it when I applied, and I now have a CO and she hasn't asked for it?!? But a lot of the forums say you have to fill it in! My CO has asked for a Police Certificate and I've sent off for it... any help appreciated thanks teacherben
  3. Mine came separately earlier this year, but I didn't have to request my old one - they sent it automatically!!!
  4. I hope so too I was expecting it to take around 8 weeks as looking on some September and August forums this seemed to be the norm!! Yeah it does seem an exodus - just before the Tour de France comes as well!! I'm having my medical at Medmigration at the Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester (http://www.bridgewaterhospital.com/treatments/medmigration.html) - it cost £260 (cheaper of the two in Manchester) and they could book me in ASAP - I wasn't prepared as I was expecting a CO in early January!! There are a very limited number of panel Drs (some in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Plymouth, Edinburgh or Cardiff (http://www.immi.gov.au/Help/Locations/Pages/United-Kingdom.aspx )) so Manchester would be the nearest for you I'm pretty sure - unless you're planning on visiting London etc soon?!! Seems to cost more down South though... I'm going as a teacher of Biology!! Exciting times!!
  5. Hi Zoiphia, I'm from Harrogate in Yorkshire. Applied for my 189 visa on the 4th November - got a CO assigned on 26th which was bloody quick!! Have sent off for my police certificate and have booked my medical for Tuesday 3rd December!! Scary times...got asked for some more proof of work experience so have uploaded my payslips, contract, work reference and P60's - along with various letters from my school for various promotions over the years. It's all very exciting!! My CO is from the Brisbane Team but I'm hopeing to settle in Sydney to teach! Good luck! teacherben
  6. Hi, I teach and got the Head teacher to certify my documents for my Skills Assessment (came back successfully) and am uploading colour scans for my visa assessment. I understand it to be the same as gbuss - anyone that can approve a passport etc can sign. Saves money and time if you know someone!!
  7. Hi Smitty and Nastasia - my documents said received a long time before I got given a CO. I received an email this morning assigning me a CO but the documents said received a while ago! Hope this helps
  8. Hi Joeybee, Out of interest which document did you ask the tax office for? I'm in a similar position - got many payslips but not all of them - I've uploaded as many as possible, but I only have P60's for the last 3 years. Also, who did you ring?? Any help would be much appreciated thanks teacherben
  9. Morning guys - just thought I'd say I got my CO assigned today - Brisbane Team 33. I am very excited! It's very quick too - was expecting it to be end of December!! Anyone else heard anything??? teacherben
  10. Fair enough Peach. Do you know what HSBC are like then? If I stay with them will this make transferring money to and from the UK cheaper?
  11. Thanks Bogan Bear. Do you know which are the best bank to be with? I have an HSBC account in the UK - what are they like in Oz?? Cheers
  12. Hi guys, What's the best bank account to open for an expat? I'm looking for fee free if possible, or as low a fee as possible...with the possibility of over draft. Any help appreciated, Thanks teacherben
  13. Just a quickie regarding the medical questionnaire on the eVisa site - I've been to the Drs before with high blood pressure but does this mean I have to declare it? It's not a permanent thing, it was just a stressful time in my life. Do I mention it or not?? Cheers teacherben

    EOI

I submitted my EOI on 30th October and got invited on the 5th November!! I had 75 points - I think this may have some influence on the decision. Getting all of the info for the EOI can take quite a bit of time. I submitted my Skills Assessment at the end of July and it took 2.5 months. Once you have everything it can be very quick though!! Hope this helps
  17. Thanks ClarinhaOz! That's all brill...I will PM you if I think of anything else!
  18. Hi ClarinhaOz - good luck in your application!! Out of interest, where in Sydney have you been living? It's where I'm thinking of going if I get a 189 visa! There're loads of places!!! Also, what's the rent like? cheers teacherben
  19. I lodged on the 4th November - haven't had medicals or got my Police Certificate yet - not planning on moving to Oz (if everything is fine!!) until December 2014 and you need to enter within 12 months of getting these. Expecting a CO to be assigned around the end of December given what others are saying in other 189 month threads! Where are people thinking of settling? And what are people doing? I'm hoping to teach in Sydney
  20. Thanks for all your help guys one more thing - should I tell my CO when I get assigned one??
  21. Not 100% what you mean by field box but in the EOI I selected Honours degree and wrote BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences, and then in the visa application I selected Bachelors degree and wrote BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences. Yeah, I got 15 points for my degree qualification - it was assessed by AITSL.
  22. Seemingly I entered Honours degree on my EOI and then Bachelors on my visa application - the degree I received was a BSc (Honours)...
  23. Thanks guys! I'm still a little concerned - when I put honours degree into google it comes up with a one year research degree NOT to be confused with a British honours degree. Whilst I know it's hasn't given me any extra points, I'm still a little worried! We shall have to wait and see... cheers teacherben
  24. Hi guys, I've just realised - on my EOI I said I had an Honours degree and didn't think anything of it- I have a BSc (Hons) degree - but I'm not sure that's what I means. It never gained me any extra points, but on my Visa Application I just but Bachelors degree. First off, do you think this is potential grounds to refuse my visa? When I get assigned a CO is it worth explaining the situation, or should I just leave it? Any help would be very much appreciated - I'm starting to panic a little as I've just found out this mistake! Cheers, teacherben
  25. Thanks you've all been helpful! By the looks of things it takes 8-9 weeks to be allocated a CO anyway so that'll take me to end of December anyway! Should be good timing... Thanks again!! teacherben
