  1. This just re-enforces the defensiveness of some people. The fact is, there is a section for UK News and Chat, but not one for Australian News and chat. That's all I was saying. I really don''t get your reaction to what I said? Maybe nothing bad happens in Australia, so there's no need for a separate section?
  2. Maybe it should say "Australia, news and chat"? It's not listed as being specific to Australia, like this one is for the UK.
  3. Maybe there should be an Australia News and Chat? Seems to me a lot of the negative headlines about the UK are picked out by people living in Australia who just want to reinforce their reason for living there. I can't understand why they would do that, especially as some posters have said, it's utopia there?

    Im home !

I can see how you got the wrong end of the stick there. I do plenty of things during the week, so weekends are not something I especially look forward to. The break from work is nice, but I don't live for the weekends as such. I like to have fun in-between too.

I do make the most of the two days off work. I can play golf if I want and go scuba diving, after all I live on a island! I don't need to go overseas to do them. I go overseas for a change and to see new things. I also travel around the UK enjoy everything on offer here. Like I said, depends on your idea of an holiday. For me it's to see new things, not do the same things I can do here (with better weather)

Depends what you call holiday mode and what you want from an holiday. I just call weekends 2 days off work (if I was lucky) wherever I have lived.
  7. Sometimes it's not so easy to find what's best for you. You know now  All the best for the future.
  8. There you go fourcorners, it's your hormones made worse by the warm weather, stop whinging. You should think yourself lucky, you could be in the UK, that will make your hormones even worse in the cold weather. Grey skies and all that terrible weather we have.
  9. It was a wonderful time in the 70's in the UK wasn't it? The three day week, power cuts, rubbish piled high because of strikes. The army having to step in with the Green Goddess, those were the days. By the way, I wouldn't think many people would claim to be living in a picturesque village in a castle on an hill. They might say they can visit a nearby picturesque village that has a castle on an hill. [h=1][/h]
  10. If your earning less than you were in 1989, I think you should seriously look at a career change. The UK is not booming I agree, but it's on the up. London is not the only place doing okay. I came back here to live in Leeds in 1998 after I returned from living out there. I have had pay rises every year since then and got the biggest one (10%) this year. There's plenty of other places outside London doing okay. It is down to an individual's perception of their circumstances and if they are so unhappy they should do something constructive about it and not just whinge. The UK is generally a good place to live, I could think of a lot worse places.
  11. James would have been the last name they would have called him if you think about it.
  12. It's great isn't it, after a few summers lacking in a week or two of settled weather. Must admit, there are quite a lot of people moaning though, not just one or two? The reservoirs aren't all full to the brim however, the ones I visited earlier in the week on the Washburn had plenty in, but hardly full to the brim. Which is ok as long if we don't have a dry winter and dry summer to follow as happened in 75/76. My lawn has begun to take on a brown look now, even after watering and there seems to be a lot of laws around here and out and about with the same problem. I must live in a particular dry area? Fortunately they are saying the weather will break mid week and throw it down so that will save me having to get the hosepipe out again.
  13. Hopefully you were only referring to the weather when you said it was like Australia?
