  1. If you stick the job spec into Google you can see the proper ad - with slightly more detail and slightly fewer typos. The employer is based in southern Perth. I'd also be interested to know if there is really no one among the 2 million-odd inhabitants of Perth who has experience of selling solar panels and wants to earn $200k a year. Hopefully Mr SolarWA will be along later to give us more info...
  2. Er... you might want to make use of the edit button. I imagine those with business "sexperience" might be better off looking for a job round one of the mines! :biglaugh: Also, where in WA is this role based? I'm assuming, as you can't find "the right person" among Aus citizens/PRs, it is somewhere rather unpopular...?
  3. We've just done Stage 2 of the Defacto Partner visa. We were given a month to upload all the documents - the Case Officer kindly supplied a list of what was missing - and the visa was granted 24 hours after we submitted it all. You've probably got a bit of a longer wait for Stage 1 though... For the statements from family and friends you have to use Form 888 from the Immi website and it has to be witnessed. Good luck!
  4. Arrived back Saturday night, had a job offer by Tuesday morning. A better paid and more interesting job than I'd gone to Sydney for (although I must admit it's term-to-perm rather than permanent from the outset). So glad to be back!
  5. Who did you speak to at Hays? I dealt with Mark Pamplin from the "Globalink" Team based in London, and he was very knowledgable about financial services opportunities in the various cities. Michael Page have a similar team which were also quite informative, although based in Australia so you have to email them.
  6. Rupert, it's on page 40 of the Partner Migration Booklet, under evidence for "Social aspect of the relationship". I can't see any mention of married couples being exempt from having to provide this stuff...
  7. Hi - I think they've taken out the financial support requirement for these visas anyway. DP's visa took 7 1/2 months, so who is going to have a job lined up in Australia 8+ months before they go there? The whole thing is a bit silly when you think about it... I just included my payslips for the previous 12 months, and in the relationship history put down what recruitment agencies had told me the prognosis was of my getting a job in Aus (e.g. what pay I could expect, how long it would take, etc.). We mainly used e-tickets and credit card statements as proof of joint travel, so you should be ok. I just colour photocopied several cards onto one page with a little note who they were from. None of them were dated. Good luck!
  8. Well it would suit me, as my new job is a short walk from Central and a 40 min commute is about the same as from Panania (I think). Thanks for the info, MaryRose :notworthy:
  9. Hmmm... I always thought Blacktown was rough as guts, and it even featured in an episode of Crime Investigation Australia. But according to this map it seems to be one of the safer areas - and you can rent a house for under $400/wk! I was going to go for the Padstow/Revesby/Panania area too, but maybe Blacktown deserves a look...
  10. Thank you - I do so adore being patronised...!:laugh::laugh:
  11. So you are saying that nobody should bother to learn a language properly - just bungle through with a few pidgin words and then accuse our interlocutors of "cultural insensitivity" when misunderstandings occur? Sounds like a "culture" of ignorance to me...
  12. No that's my LANGUAGE! :tongue::confused:
  13. Sorry, but I don't think it is a "cultural thing" either - seems to be more the language barrier. FACT: different languages have different words for relatives, e.g. German has different words for male and female cousins (actually 2 for each) which we don't have. The OP's language - apparently - has no term for great uncles or aunts. It's purely linguistic, and I think if you are filling in a VERY important form in a language that is not your native tongue, you need to either be 100% sure of what you are signing up to, or else get professional help. And by the way when the DIBP say that a "close relative" can sponsor, they don't mean any relative that you are particularly fond of!

:notworthy:Thanks a lot, Bob. The post I was referring to was where you asked: "When did she have the rabies blood sample? If it is 1 month after the vaccination then with the new rules, you are sitting pretty." Which implied - to me at any rate - that if the test is done before 1 month that you are not "sitting pretty". Great to know that's not the case.

Hi Bob, In a more recent post you seem to be implying that under the new rules the rabies tests aren't valid unless they are done a month or more after the vaccination. Does that mean that after all the stress and inconvenience Roxybird and I are back to square one?? I had a quick look on the DAFF website and can't find any mention of this. Thanks

    Yay - congrats! :ssign19:

She was right though: it wasn't the dog's fault. It was her fault for not training it properly. Now two dogs are dead because she and her Neanderthal boyfriend were too lazy/thick/tight to take it to dog obedience classes. I bet they didn't bother to have it neutered either... Rather than 'dangerous' dogs being put to sleep I think the stupid owners should pay to have them rehabilitated and rehomed to responsible homes. What would be a better deterrent to scumbags like this crazy old cow: attending 'female empowerment classes' and not being able to own a dog for 5 years (like they gave a damn about the dog anyway) or owing, say, £40,000 to celebrity dog trainer Cesar Millan?
  18. Yes, the link is UK, because they want people who have worked for one of the Big 4 accountancy firms or an investment bank "in the UK". The consultant is actually based in Melbourne (hence the number not working). Whoever the employer is, they must be the only one in Melbourne who doesn't want "local experience". Even Michael Page themselves told me not to bother with Melbourne and to move to Sydney instead (and I'm an Aussie citizen!)
  19. Well, that's what the recruitment agent said when I contacted her. I fulfilled all the criteria in the ad except the Accountancy qualification... which wasn't in the ad! I agree, it's odd. They've re-posted the ad, so they are obviously not getting the candidates they are looking for - but that is not surprising given the vagueness of the whole thing. That's why I wanted to post the correct phone number: this might be a great opportunity for someone, but I didn't want anyone to have their time wasted like I did. Am I allowed to post phone numbers on here?
  20. I didn't want to post this link in the "vacancies" section as it's just something I spotted, but I thought somebody might be interested. What the ad doesn't say (which it jolly well should!) is that they are only interested in CA/ACCA qualified accountants. http://www.michaelpage.co.uk/job-display/1195152/finance-opportunities-in-the-australian-banking-sector.html Also, calling the phone number in the link doesn't work (don't know if I'm allowed to post the correct number on here...)
  21. I feel for anyone desperate for a job, but I thought this comment was a bit out of order. The poster who mentioned the networking asked you what you did for a living and you wouldn't tell her, so she couldn't help you. And then you have a pop at the poor woman in another post! If you don't want to tell us what you do, then have a look at meetup.com - there are loads of opportunities for meeting new people on there.

We had our dog retested at exactly 3 1/2 weeks after the second jab. She had 7.79 **/ml - nearly 16 times the antibodies she needed! So the 3-4 weeks delay certainly worked for us. Good luck with your dog x [Hmmm... why is PIO asterisking out the abbreviation for "international unit"? Weird!]
  23. We had the same issues - just emailed the CO our new address and she wanted a certified copy of the new passport by post. We didn't fill in any forms.

According to our vet, 20% of the rabies vaccines don't work properly - of course that didn't mean they would refund our money or re-vaccinate our dog for free when she failed her rabies test... Anywhere else, if you pay for a service you don't get, you get your money back - what a rip-off! Having had both vaccination (different brand) and test re-done at another vets, we're anxiously awaiting the second set of results. Good luck with yours!
