  1. Hi Anurag, I am also in the same situation as yours. I am an Australian PR holder residing in India. I want to apply for offshore child visa for my new born. I am currently filling out this Form 40CH for my Child Visa. There is a statement in the form mentioning: " The sponsor gives a written undertaking to provide support for the child, including accommodation and financial assistance as required to meet the child’s reasonable living needs during their first 2 years in Australia, or the 2 years following the grant of the child’s visa if the child is applying in Australia ". What does the written undertaking in the above statement means? As I have not migrated to Australia, how can I provide the accomodation and financial assistance proof that has been stated above. I think you would have applied for your baby by now. Kindly advise me on the document that needs to be provided. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ram

  3. 14 months for Child Visa processing looks to be a very long tenure. My idea would be: - Apply for Child offshore visa (subclass 101) immediately after the child is born. - after some months, apply for the visitor visa for the child and you can bring the child to Australia. Guys, I am not 100% sure of this option. Please correct me, if I am wrong.
  4. My advise would be NOT to plan for travel and delivery in Australia at this time. Instead, have a safe delivery in India itself. Apply for Child Visa (Subclass 101) and migrate permanently with your new born. No need to worry much on the Medicare coverage, private insurance, etc at this time. Check this website for child offshore visa - http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/child/101/ Do check for the processing time when applying Child Visa (Subclass 101) from India.
