  1. Thanks for all your suggestions, guidance and help. After reading all your comments, I have decided to deliver my baby here in India itself. I will apply for the Child visa from here. As suggested, I had inquired VFS for the Child Visa formalities. They mentioned, the processing time would be almost 14 months itseems. I checked the same in the VFS website and the below is mentioned: " The visa office at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi has the responsibility to ensure that the number of visas granted each financial year (1 July to 30 June) is in line with planning levels set by the Australian Government. Based on current planning levels, applications for a Child visa lodged in New Delhi in 2011-12 will not be finalised until after 1 July 2012. Prospective parents who are considering returning from Australia to India for the birth of a child should be aware that visa applications will take approximately 14 months to finalise. Prospective parents are advised that children born in Australia to Australian Permanent Residents will generally not need not need to apply for a Child visa, as they are eligible to apply for Australian Citizenship. " Is there any way, can I take my newborn to Australia during the Child visa processing period of 14 months. Any bridging visa that I need to apply along with child PR visa?
  2. Hi, I am an Australian PR currently in India. I am pregnant with my second child(28 weeks) and thinking of traveling to Australia before my 36th week for my delivery seen in Australia. I need your kind help to plan (or) not to plan for my delivery in Australia. I have to register for medicare after arriving in Australia. Before I plan for my delivery in Australia, I would like to know 1. Is it advisable to have my delivery planned in Australia, considering the facilities that I will get in Australia. 2. If I check-in as public patient in a public hospital will I be admitted or is there any procedure I should follow before getting admitted? Is there any waiting period for any process/procedures. 3. As my first baby is C-section I think there is lot of chance that my second might be a C-section. Since I dont have any private insurance can you kindly advice me on what might be the approx. cost for the GP, scanning costs, room costs, theater costs,etc.. 4.Can doctors be choosen if it's going to be a C-section and Is there any procedure or registration to be done? What are the other expenses I have to think of apart from medicare cover. As everything is going to be new, I am very nervous and I need your help and advice to decide about my delivery, whether to plan doing it in Australia or doing it in India itself. Thanks in advance.
