  1. We are are just by the Blacrock Brasserie that opened last year near BMW garage, been to the Chinese but we love Mikes a Bar and grill and The Crest has changed hands and very good.
  2. Hi I'm in Cairns right now with husband only as he has work here, we actually live in Sydney. So a maybe a biased answer but if I could I would pack right now and move to Cairns. So so calm and beautiful so much to do and see and what wonderful people. Visited Byron Bay on the drive down really lovely but more of a holiday hot spot as people have said a bit hippyfied. As for Cairns I fell in love with the place within a week...my view only so please no negative feedback...but I would highly recommend Cairns very friendly, beautiful.scenic can't tell you a great deal we are a trinity beach so northern beaches we've been around and just lovely happy to help if I possibly can.
  3. Hi we live in Sylvania, absolutely love it 15 minutes to staion by bus then fast train 20 mins into city if you time it right which really isn't hard to do. I pop on the bus to cronulla as don't drive about 25 mins but with the new opal bus card very cheap and very easy to get about. We love sylvania some really nice restaurants not to near the beach but very easy accessible. I can probably tell you everything about public transport lol as I'm on it most days. Some great clubs such as the one we are with if you google St George motor boat club san soucci $5.50 per year less than £3 and you get free transport on weekends from your house and home again like a taxi and after 4 on a weekday beautiful setting right on the water, there are many places you can get to from here I never have a problem. Any questions I'm happy to help.
  4. Hi my son did his in Sydney CBD a couple of weeks ago, they updated on Immi within the 5 days but it's not showing we knows it's there as his case officer has confirmed it. When we origionally did our visa process ours never showed up even when we had our visa granted. I wouldn't worry they are very good and it will have been done. Debbs
  5. Himmmy sons here on WHV now not heard of anyone that's had to have a medical. I think it's just a standard thing they put my sons had that to. Only took 24 hours for visa to be granted. Debbs
  6. Hi, my son got his bridging visa with his acknowledgement letter he can only work under the same conditions as his WHV unless we get them lifted. If your brother is a student he will have to apply to work as his bridging visa will only let him study in Australia. Anyway let's hope somewhere down the line the time frame goes down.
  7. Hi Yes we are aware of all that thanks been researching it for weeks. Immi have sent us the details if he wants to get his working rights lifted. That's something we will look into once his WHV is over and he's on his bridging visa. He's young and has so much he wants to do here for us it's stepping stone all be it a long one it's worth it to have all our family together.
  8. Hi we are also in the same situation My husband and son and I are all citizens unfortunately my oldest son 21 years old couldn't come on our original visa as he was in full time employment. After visiting for a holiday and then coming out in May on a working holiday visa he loves it and wants to stay. So Monday we applied for Remaining Relative visa 835 onshore. After speaking with many migration agents we found althoe a massive wait this would be our only way to have our son with us. He will still have the same working conditions as his working holiday visa but at least he can stay lawfully and work. We received our acknowledgment letter on Thursday also 3 days after applying but thankfully the immigration gave him a bridging visa so he can stay in Australia until decision is made. I spoke to a helpful lady at Immi and she advised the the queuing letter if accepted could take 12-24 months. so we are not expecting anything soon this is when police and health checks plus second instalment will be asked for. with us it's not to bad our sons visa is onshore and as advised by Immi was he to get sponsorship along the way or meet anyone and get married he could apply for those visa even though costly it's something that may happen. He is happy to gain work where he can and travel Australia. anybody with any other info would be great good to hear other stories. sorry mines so long winded but hope it helps Debbs

    Form 80

It can delay people because immi haven't got everything they want to know. I have no idea why but several people I know of didn't do it and took 6 months plus for a visa it maybe just that we were over cautious and filled everything in but it worked for us. This is only my personal view after emigrating on PR last year with no agent and everything done by ourselves I have read many posts with different advice this is mine, only trying to help the transfer go smoothly. Form 80

I really would fill in form 80 we came out to Sydney last sept 13 applied for our visa April 13 and got it granted 5weeks 4 days later, we were In touch with other people on the forum coming out to oz who hadn't filled it in and it delayed them, some by several months. It is just a lot of repeating questions but 1 hour of your time is better than a delay of a few months. Hope this helps Debbs
  12. Hi, I know exactly how you feel I moved to Sydney 3 months ago. My husband is loving it and so am I but I get the days where I feel fed up miss my mum and sister and can't be bothered to face anything. My sons are grown up so don't have the excuse to go to the park as I would feel out of place. I am lucky I have a couple of good friends here. I do understand however that feeling of ..oh I don't want to moan because my husband doesn't see why, even thoe he does understand. Where abouts are you I couldn't see which City you are in. Debs
  13. We have just had our Police Certificates delivered and had similar questions when we applied, give the Police in Fareham a ring and explain the issues we found them very helpful. Also you can pay by postal order which although will cost slightly more will negate the wait for a cheque book. Ours took just over three weeks to arrive.
