  1. At a minimum between my wife and I we would be able to have one job offer (healthcare and IT) when the time comes. which hopefully would be sufficient. No other family ties to any Australian citizens.
  2. Just wondering what the outcome was for you Cantabrigian? I’m looking at similar circumstances for a RRV as my 5yr PR 189 expired during COVID lockdown in 2020 after only managing a visa activation trip in 2015, and I’m only now able to open up story again… Thanks
  3. Hi, I hope your move has gone well. What company/contractor structure did you take in the end? I've looked at this many times and I am still uncertain of the best option, so would be interested in your experience.
  4. A little late but I looked at this in early 2017 as I am in this situation but have not submitted an application as yet. The forms you need are the 40CH and 47CH for an offshore application. You will also need a medical for the child and to pay the visa fee (I forget, but I think it was over £1,000 at the time). In the UK, I think you need to apply to the AUS embassy in London for this Visa. There is an onshore option too if you do not think your visa would be granted in time, obviously this would carry more risk. You also would need to leave Australia and return to activate the child's PR visa once it was approved.

  6. Good to hear. I had read some negative news on the line in the local press & BrizCommuter blog. Is the parking OK at Mango Hill station?
  7. Would you mind sharing how this worked out for you in the end? Thanks
  8. Is anyone commuting from Mango Hill/North Lakes area to the CBD on the new rail line? If so, how are you finding it?
  9. Take a payment holiday on the mortgage for the time you move- most will allow a couple of months? Also if you decide you must sell soon rather than BTL, you could look into switching it to interest only?
  10. Lodged on 5th May- so nearly 3 months.
  11. Direct Grant issued this morning
  12. I called up the GSM processing centre at 03:30am today, it took 52mins to be answered  First I was told there were no updates, when I asked them for a bit more information I was told it had been assigned to Team 1, but there was no other information about whether it had been looked into by them yet.
  13. I don't think you need to leave after the PR expires? You only need a RRV if you want to leave Australia then return (holiday for example) once your PR has expired. In your example of 4 years before settling it's likely you might need a RRV as it would be another 3 years or so before you could apply for citizenship after your original visa expires.
  14. As I hadn't heard anything yet, I got impatient and called the GSM Processing Centre (number on the footer of the initial acknowledgement letter) for an update on Sunday night... After waiting in the call queue for 30mins I got through to be told "There are no updates, not assigned to a CO yet and can take unto 3 months etc..." I applied 5th May and completed the Meds & PCC in June, so guess I just need to hurry up and wait.
  15. I applied on 5th May, all Medicals and Police certificates loaded a couple of weeks ago but not contact as yet.
  16. Our visas were lodged on 5th May. Family of 4, looking at either Brisbane or Melbourne depending on how things go. Looking to go as soon as practically possible once visas are issued and house is sold.
  17. I would think you would still need a valid medical and PCC upon 1st entry, but that is otherwise very interesting...
  18. If it is a PDF file try this: http://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf if using a Mac you can use filters to reduce the quality, as a scan is usually much higher quality than required in a document.
  19. I am unable to edit my post above (perhaps due to its age), however while completing my EOI application it seems IELTS may be valid for 3 years, not 2 as I stated.
  20. Hi Joshua, can an you confirm if your experience after the ACS assessment date (date of the letter) was allowed for submission? My letter was dated May 2013 and by adding a year on from then in the same role it gives me extra work experience points
  21. Perfect, thanks. I better apply in early April then...!
  22. Hi All, My ACS Skills Assessment 2 year validity expires in May. I am looking to begin the 189 visa application process as close as possible to this date without passing it. Does anyone have any knowledge on if it needs to be valid only upon my initial EOI, or if it still must be valid at the time I am invited? Thanks!
  23. To quote my ACS Skills assessment letter: "This assessment is valid for a period of 24 months from the date of this letter." I think the IELTS also has a 2yr validity.
