  1. well, there is a petition making rounds on similar lines: https://www.change.org/p/parliament-of-the-united-kingdom-parliament-of-australia-parliament-of-canada-parliament-of-new-zealand-advocate-and-introduce-legislation-promoting-the-free-movement-of-citizens-between-the-uk-canada-australia-and-new-zealand
  2. GBP is steamrolling.. Currently above 2.03
  3. Th spike was mainly because of a Brexit poll suggesting the REMAIN group are at 55% and LEAVE are at 37%.
  4. It has definitely gone through the roof! Settlement Visa (ILR) is over £1800 Naturalization is around £1300
  5. I have renewed both Child and Adult Australian passports while in UK. You need to visit the Australian embassy in central London (not a hassle for me as I am based in London). In both cases got our respective passport in 2 weeks after application.
  6. Yes, but look at London.. prices still rising.. All the m/billionaires from Russia, ME, India etc are pouring money.. Cities such as London and Sydney are safe havens for the rich from the uncertainties back homeand whilst there will be corrections it may not be to the extent what people are imagining it to be.
  7. I was able to get an internal transfer from my Sydney office to London office. Is that a possibility in your case?
  8. Seems the 'xmas lights' are going off for the Aussie this year!
  9. When I was in Sydney, I used to use OzForex. Currently, in London and I regularly use UKForex.
  10. Seems there are no direct flights between Tokyo and Perth. Hence, would be difficult to get a reasonably priced itinerary.. You might do London - Tokyo - Sydney via Japan Airlines and then take a Qantas code share flight from Sydney to Perth (JAL and Qantas are One-World alliance partners). This will ensure your baggage will be checked through to Perth (when you check it in Tokyo..) Tokyo and surrounds is an amazing place.. Lived in Japan for 6+ years and absolutely loved it!! However, as I said, not sure about how pricey it would turn out to be.

  14. The dollar had finally reached a tipping point and was likely to keep heading down. Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/business/markets/currencies/australian-dollar-drops-as-fear-takes-over-global-markets-20150824-gj6iee.html#ixzz3jj7SYnHl
  15. I would recommend UK Forex. No charges for transfers above GBP 3000 and very competitive rates.
  16. I think that should be ok. We were in a similar situation like you.. We were working in Japan when we got our PR granted.. We made just 1 short visit (1 week holiday to Cairns) to 'activate' the visa and then eventually made the move to Oz just before the PR expired
  17. There are always going to be perennially stronger growth areas Not restricted to UK but Australia and other countries as well...
  18. I would highly recommend UK Forex.. Have been transacting with them for the last 2 years and I regularly transfer GBP --> AUD... Their rates are very competitive, very simple and secure to use and the transfer takes place in a day's time...
  19. "The economy is now 5.2pc larger than its pre-crisis peak, and ONS said the 0.7pc expansion in the second quarter suggested that gross domestic product (GDP) per head was now "broadly equal to the pre-economic downturn peak" in the first quarter of 2008. This is expected to be confirmed by the ONS next month." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11767133/UK-growth-accelerates-as-economy-expands-by-0.7pc-in-second-quarter.html
  20. Crossed 2.14.. The progress of the pound recently has been scary tbh...Just like sydney's house prices!
  21. Being employed may not be easy in the current market conditions in Oz and undercutting is not limited to large UK companies. You will find it in Oz as well.
  22. I am an atheist (Religious/Political); truely swear to God or on any Tory/Labour Grandee for that matter!
  23. You should seriously consider taking up politics and change the system if you feel so strongly about it..No other way but to be In the system to change it. Use that moral fibre I say.
