  9. I guess it took so long due to the security related checks ... I am Pakistani & the turmoil in our country may be a reason for that much cautious checks. Though it ruined all my plans which i had made 2 years ago ... Yet at the end of the day it was good to have some option in hand rather than nothing ...
  10. It was GSM175 & below are the timelines.
  11. Hi Today when I checked DIAC online status for my Visa it was like Big Hurrah !!! Couldnot believe my eyes ... I checked it twice thrice .. but it was not a Dream :-) I got it .. though it was difficult to wait yet it was worth it at the end Thanks to God & all of you who helped me out through their kind piece of advice everytime when I was about to panic. 12. I just meant that the person having State sponsored Migration cannot sponsor his parents for visit visa ... At last but not the least I am having GSM visa Marry XmaX
  13. Thanks for the reply. I just came to know that Visa duration for Skilled independent is 5 years where as it is 3 years for State sponsored. At the same time State sponsored visa doesnot allow you to call your parents in Aussie. So there are several differences. Is it true ? Can someone shed some more light on this ... Waiting
  14. Hi Hope everyone is having nice time Out there. My question is what is the main difference between State sponsored & independent visa in terms of benefits once you arrive in Aussie. Like some of my friends say that its only "moral" binding to live in that nominated state for 2 years not a legal one. Apart from that is there some difference in social benefits or medical/health insurance. Also what difference will it make at the end of 4 years while getting aussie passport. Thanks for your time & Have a Happy Christmas :xmas23:
  15. check the password with your Agent if you have one ... Else email the department they will feedback.
  16. Hi I would be moving there by Mar-April 2013. I am working here in middle East . Dont have any job secured in there yet will try my luck. Lets hope all things would be great over there by then. Rana
  17. Hi All Thanks for taking the time to reply this post ... One question remained unanswered. Is it normal practice for Case Officers to collect the same information time & again. As I mentioned I renewed my passport back in May 2012. I had updated CO via my agent back then along with attached passport copies ( old & new BOTH) . My agent updated CO with my passport copy again in Aug 2012 ( old & new) . Now by 4th Oct 2012 CO again asked for the passport copies ... Which has been sent again by the agent. I didn't get this thing... CO is a responsible officer (i think so) & he/she should demand the same document time & again, Or its CO's personal discretion to keep on asking the things we have already provided them. I dint hear the things happening with any of my fellow colleagues. Am i a prey of a bad CO :arghh:or its a part of my luck to get myself locked with such a person in difficult circumstances. Thanks
  18. Hi NickyNook I agree with your stance 100 % but as a matter of fact DIAC should categorize that 18 months is not the timeline for all 175 but the bottleneck factor is whether you fall in HIGH risk or LOW risk country will determine the time required to process your application. It would keep the applicant at ease & they would also have less number of queries from desperate persons like me .
  19. Hi Twister292 Thanks for your kind piece of advice. You are right one should not leave the Job unless & until all things has been finalized. The problem with me was lil different. 18 months timeline was supposed to be finished by Sep 2012 so I was pretty sure that things would have been "under control" when it comes to future planning. I didn't leave the job but my company couldn't grab the next contract so aftermath of that is straight away termination. Apart from that what I felt is (I may be wrong) DIAC doesn't treat all people on equal footings. Like some nations/people are favored while it goes other way round for the rest. For example , I advised my Indian Buddy (Dec 2011) to go for IELTS & apply for Immigration. We both applied with the help of same agent. Look at his timeline below. IELTS :: Dec 2011 ENGRS AUSTRALIA :: Feb 2012 VISA application :: May 2012 go ahead for Medicals-PCC - Aug 2012 Medicals sent :: Sep 2012. It clearly denotes that He would def reach Australia before me even though I applied 13 months before !!! So anyone from DIAC can justify this time line difference !!!
  20. Hi I applied for 175 back in 23 March 2011. After CO assigning in 22 Nov 2011 there is no update from department. 18 months timeline has also elapsed last month. My Job contract has also been finished & I am serving 3 months termination notice period these days. What the heck is this ... Is there some criterion for anything called "timelines" or KPI. My whole planning about future ruined due to these pathetic case officers. They demand the same things which I have given her 2-3 times before back in Nov 2011 & Sep 2012. For example she asked for my Office addresses again today even though I had sent her twice at different times. When I pushed my agent she got the below reply from Case Officer "Hi Farrukh Here is the update of your application below: from CO I wish to advise that I have followed up on the status of your application and confirm that atpresent your application is still undergoing routine processing. Unfortunately, ensuring all the legal requirements are met in relation to an application can take some time. I will continue to follow up on the status of your application on a regular basis to ensure it is being processed as soon as practicable. You will be contacted if we require additional information to process your application. We appreciate your patience in this matter." Is there someone can give me any piece of advice. I am too much worried ..:cry:

  22. Hi This wait thing has ruined all of my plans in past 2 years. I am waiting for medicals & police checks. As per web site information it should take 18 months but I am still waiting ... I dont know what are the criterion for granting visa as some of my office colleagues applied Visa in May 2012 & are done with medicals cum police checks... guess DIAC has applied "random" method on applications so its neither LIFO ( last in first out ) not FIFO (first in first out) rather its something far beyond understanding. Rana IELTS -Jan 2011 Skills Assessment -Feb 2011 Visa applied -Mar 2011 CO assigned -Nov 2011 Waiting  !!!
  23. Hi but they do record all of your interview ... Apart there is a third person who is in process of assigning marks ... I am not sure how much role that person can play ... So buddy dont worry at all ... You would get what you want as you are a native speaker ... Chill & best of luck
