  1. settle down pal. If people believed half the stuff people say on here then there would be a lot of disorganised people going about. Always good to get a second opinion, and to be honest, there's also no need for you to reply if you have already posted. If admin have a problem with my posts they are more than welcome to delete
  2. superb. even though only a couple of months , that makes a difference
  3. Hi I have been told on another post that time spent on a tourist visa counts towards the 4 years needed to apply for citizenship. Is this correct? Thanks
  4. Hi I have been told on another post that time spent in australia on a tourist visa counts towards the 4 year timescale for citizenship application. Could anyone please confirm or deny this? I have searched online but cant see anything the confirms this. thanks
  5. Certainly don't "hate the place" as someone commented above. Circumstances has made my dream move turn sour, but in years to come it could become my "dream move" once more. I like the term "belts and braces" Also I have just been toldon another post that the touriust visa counts towards the 4 year timescale for citizenship application Can anyone confirm or deny this please? thanks
  6. The toursit visa counts? Really? I have searched for info on this and havent found anything to suggest. Can anyone else confirm this please? Benefit for me staying is having my sister, BIL and 3 gorgeous nieces here. I know deep down the passport gives me that freedom for later in life and , of course woukld be handy to have. If said quote about the tourist visa is correct then that certainly help - albeit only by a couple of months. Thanks everyone
  7. Because I arrived in November 2013 on a tourist visa....my PR was granted while I was here in Oz in January 2014. Can apply in January 2018 but as we all know it could be another 2-6months for test and ceremony to happen Also disagree (sorry!) with the time will fly even if not having fun. It has, and is dragging for the last 2 years

    Unsettled

Hi. After persuing my "dream" of moving to australia permanently myself and my mum were in a serious accident in Bali which resuted in near death and permament disfigurement / issues / problems. 1 year into my big move ** was distraught. things have, and will never be the same for me here again while my mum , and other family, are still in the UK I am dying to move back, but people keep saying to stay for the passport as i have more family here in australia and could come in handy in the future. I would be happy to leave...2years ago! its a tough decision, but I know I want to be with family - IF i can hold out for the passport then win win I suppose good luck
  9. Hi. I was wondering if anyone has moved back to the UK without getting their Australian citizenship / passport and did you regret it? cheers
  10. After making the move down here in november 2013 , and not settling as well as I thought I would, I am now at the decision that I want to move back to Scotland. I am eligible to apply for my citizenship in january 2018. - which coud mean another 6 months from then until I would hold my Australia Passport. In my mind I know the right thing to do is to get my passport, as having family here in oz It would allow me to explore other options later in life if circumstances change in the UK. I was wondering how the RRV visa works exactly. I know you get 5 years to return once your original PR runs out. (I still have 2 years left on original 5 year PR. - Can you only get one x 5 year RRV? or possible to extend again? thanks
  11. Brilliant. Thanks. I I looked at the medium sized cube. Is it fairly big? The dimensions seem small?
  12. Anyone have any idea what carpenters wages are like in Tasmania. Cheers
  13. Any chippies shipped their tools over / back ?
  14. Hi. Have any carpenters on here sent back their tools from Australia? i was wondering who to use, a rough price and a rough time to be delivered If there has. TIA
  15. I have been a or here in oz for 2years. Mi am hoping to move back to the UK for a year or so due to circumstances back home. Can an I go back and if I am there longer than a year, still return to australia before my PR ceases Would I need a RRV before I leave australia his year? can I apply for the 5year RRv from the UK before my PR ceases? if still in the uk when PR about to cease (January 2019) can I return to Australia, apply for a RRV and then have another 5tears to travel in and out? thanks

    RRV

This is great comments by everyone. Connecting with each one massively. Refreshing to read. I will have been here on a PR for 2years cone this January. I am swinging towards going back to scotland around March. Im in Perth and struggling with work a bit. Always getting but never lasting. But fed up of chopping and changing. bit bored here also. I play football here, captain the side actually, but that's not enough. Ma lots happened over the last year and things have changed both here and in scotland. Id love to get my citizenship - I really would for all the reasons stated by yourselves. I could go over East, I have friends there, but I feel like I can't be bothered at times- like Id rather just go home. I dunno planning on the stone roses gig in June. I suppose if I went back for that then came back id only have s year and a half to go - adding in the few months wait for citizenship. Blabbing on !

    RRV

mate, that sounds exactly like my predicament. But I think I want a year back at least to see what's going on. Getting the passport would be ideal I know, but there's things going on in scotland that Id like to be a part of so so you reckon I'd have 8 years? Another 3 + the 5 year RRV?

    RRV

I have been here 2years as a PR. how long does your PR last? It it says to apply if current PR is about to expire? If if I still have a couple of years on my current PR, could I leave and apply for a RRV once said PR is away to expire? Cheers

    RRV

Would I have to apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) while in Australia, or possible to do it from the UK? cheers
  20. Here 2years as a PR how long do I need to be here before applying for citizenship, and would bring here 8 years ago on s 2year WHV count towards the timeframe needed? thanks

    RRV

So you don't automatically get a 5 year RRV if you have been here 2years?
  22. CowlingAFC

    RRV

And can you only get 1 RRV?
  23. CowlingAFC

    RRV

Is it true that your RRV is only valid for the anount of time you have been in Australia as a PR ie; 2year as a PR = 2 year RRV 3year PR = 3 year RRV etc
  24. Might head back to the UK early next year. Has as any chippies sent tools back from Perth? Looking for a rough cost and if anyone woul recommended someone to contact. Cheers
