  1. It was really just to see what the situation in the UK was really like. People's experiences. ive had good advice this morning that things will turn around in Perth after the election and 2014 will be a mini boom, it's just holding on until then and **** knows what happens if the good times don't transpire.
  2. I'm laughing but it wasn't bloody funny at the time, her mother must have called about 30 times to try and get hold of her - us not knowing if we should let her know the good news or not
  3. Suddenly "discovered" she was 5 months pregnant and left to go to Melbourne not been seen or heard of since. Luckily mr pp has had a vasectomy so no questions to answer there.
  4. $200,000 a week, would have been lovely lol
  5. Well luckily - hollow laugh - it's still in the UK in storage because we haven't had the cash to shop it out, there's not a huge amount I'd take back, we can sell the car
  6. Really? How about the possibility that in every aspect of every individuals lives there are discretionary details that lie with individual cases that you know nothing about ?
  7. thats my understanding too and providing you keep DIAC informed rather than have them find you, it all seems to be relatively reasonable and straight forward. one piece of information I found out recently which maybe helpful to others in the future is if you are on a 457 and everything goes **** up is that the sponsor has to repatriate you and your family.
  8. In response to people like you being complete ****s. how long before this thread gets pulled I wonder?
  9. And that's necessary is it ? The nanny got knocked up and moved to Melbourne dropping me right in the **** but that's ok because I didn't provide meals as well as a living wage
  10. Exactly, added into the mix he didn't work for friggin years and I mean years in the UK, he's had one job here that lasted 4 weeks, one that's lasted 6 months. I cannot bloody live like this if I've been abrasive its because it pisses me off when I post my opinions about my life which nobody else is living and get called a liar, that's not conducive to getting the best from anyone. ive offered my experience and help to others and even pats on the shoulder when required to anyone and everyone and yet I seem to have a little fan club that follows me around being rude, so they get it back. Simples.
  11. It's worse than that, I had the 457, he's been working without a visa for the past five months - with DIAC's knowledge but where we stand now I don't know. Last time it took 4 weeks to transfer the visa for me to start work and we do not have 4 weeks cash to survive in the meantime. the kids and I are 99% certainly going back, I'm utterly over it as the Aussies might say.
  12. Look if you have nothing constructive to write then piss off tbh, I have had more dramas in the past five years than ****ing east Enders. Hubby wants to stay so this will split up our family, hardly something to be gleefully gloating over.
  13. 10 months now, the kids like it and have friends which is another consideration of course
  14. I wouldn't be able to secure a job without returning I'd i imagine. I'm seriously considering returning alone this has put our marriage under such pressure. he cannot imagine working in the UK again and I cannot see h earning enough for us to even survive day to day much longer in Perth.
  15. Since arriving in Perth I think we've had about six weeks of both being employed and one flipping disaster after another, you couldn't make it up. So after being promised pr one week later hubby has been let go. we have about three weeks before we'd literally run out of money. People back home will lend us some but it feels like throwing good money after bad. ive had nice days on the beach, met nice people but honestly the grind of worrying about bills etc just sucks any positivity out of me. i know the UK is on it's arse too though. what to do
  16. Washing machine - excellent model cost over £1000 - £100 American style fridgefreezer - £100 Cannon cooker - gas on the hob and double electric oven - black - £100 Bookcase solid pine I believe and matching welsh dresser - £200 or £100 each.
  17. WE bought everytghing from Gumtree , throughly recommend and loads of people will deliver for an extra $20
  18. Thank you everyone for your kind words, time i guess is the only healer.
  19. I think it depends on the age of the children, year 6 no chance, year 7 it's a maybe. And once you have one child in it's easier to get the others through the door. For now I have two in state, one in private and the baby starting private in July. Next year it'll be three in the school I want, one in year 5 - so maybe fingers crossed - but it'll be top of the list for year 7 if not. I just hope it's worth it and they don't all run off to join a commune in Bryon Bay --lucky buggers--
  20. She was hit by a car reversing into our driveway, the only thing I can be thankful for is that it wasn't my toddler. We were moving anyway but that has focused my efforts. If we'd moved out a month ago as originally planned she would still be alive which is pretty hard to take.
  21. Just so sad, nobody is interested in hearing any bad news at all in the UK it's as if because we live in Australia they expect us to be riding on unicorns to work and eating fairy dust, utterly ridiculous. My children are absolutely devasted, we've had one thing after another for the past 6 months. Utterly fed up, would go home but what to ? The bloody house will be repossessed soon if the tenants don't start paying their rent and DH has a job he loves here.
  22. HOnestly ? I would say no, it takes a good few months to get going and by the time you were starting to be profitable the risk would be that you'd move to a competitor. Try and get business to business sales experience in Australia, ideally in the area/industry you want to recruit in and then get somebody to take you on a 457.
  23. Your DH will get a job, but that needs to happen first, then everyone else moves across.
  24. Is there a reason for that, maybe they don't do so well in the heat ???
  25. We may give you your first job Jake, we had a look around a few show homes and they are all about "features" and not so much about guaranteeing it'll still be standing in 100 years time.
