My son moved to Aus in November last year, 2012, with his Aus wife and Aus children. I think he has permeant residency. When can I apply to move there as a parent with a 173 or 143? I have a "friend" who would not pass the balance of family test even though he hasn't seen his children for twenty years. At present we have no plans regarding our future. If I applied as a parent and then we decided to stay together would I be able to apply for a fiancé visa at a later date? i hope someone can give me some advice. Thank you.

I like your positive way of thinking with your plan B! I will try to think that way, too.

At least we would be here. How long do they last? What about a business visa? Would that be easier? Would buying into a body corporate get a business visa? thanks for your help.

I don't know which subclass. We can't get a parent visa because my partner has three children so we don't pass the balance of family test. We know someone who is selling an apartment with body corporate earnings. My partner is a design engineer specialising in pressure vessels and heat exchangers. He has contacts in Brisbane so would be able to get work if he could get a 457 visa. I am 60 Md he is 63. We want to live near my son and grand daughters. Any suggestions?

As my partner is a design engineer specialising pressure vessels and heat exchangers would that get him a visa? If so which one do you think?

I am unsure which visa to apply. My partner doesn't pass the family balance test. Should be buy a business? He is a design engineer but aged 63 so will he be able to get a visa for sponsored work? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure as we've only just started to look into it. Maybe body corporate management.

We want to live in Aus and I pass the balance of family test but my partner has children that he doesn't see so we fail on that score. Does anyone have information on the business visa? Is is easy/difficult to get etc? Thank you to anyone who replies.

I'm trying to talk my partner into going over to live. I keeping telling him all the positives without saying too much about wanting to live there. I keep hoping that he's want to go without me pushing!

Is it best to go for a 143 or a 173 and change later?

I'm confused about all the numbers for visas and names that people call them. What is a bridging visa? What's the best/quickest way to get a visa as a parent? I willing to pay. My son moved out there and then came back so hasn't been back in Aus for two years yet but his wife is Australian and so are my two grand daughters. Any advice?
