  1. Whats your timeline Ozkid? The 5-7 month prediction does seem to be about accurate at the moment.
  2. Our online status never changed, from the moment of application to grant - so I don't think you are missing out on any info **.
  3. There is certainly movement for non DRC, we are proof of that having had our post July application processed, and visa issued earlier this year.
  4. Our nomination acknowledgement letter took four weeks to arrive, the application one, eight weeks. After that it was another three months before we heard anything else. I'm afraid its just the case of being patient as I'm sure hassling them won't speed things up... I resigned myself to the fact that it would just be what it would be and got on with life in the mean time.
  5. We submitted both together, non-DRC, Parramatta office, and were granted the visa in 5 months. I guess the only risk is losing your fee if nomination isn't approved for what ever reason. We knew ours would be fine, so we weren't worried.
  6. I think at the moment it is very difficult to put any timeline on the process. The visa is so new, and the system has had a couple of glitches since its launch - I believe one of these has been the inability of the system to recognise DRC/Non-DRC entry applications. I understand that in theory DRC (MA) submissions are meant to be quicker, but at the moment there does not seem to be much difference in timeline between the two. To add an actual submission to grant timeline, our non-DRC visa took almost 5 months exactly, so that may be some indication of waiting times. But ours was also a very straight forward case, with an employer who nominates regularly, so there may have been less paperwork etc to look at.
  7. I would think that having everything front loaded would certainly speed a decision up, everything was there for them simply to look at, review and make a decision. We front loaded the meds as per the guidelines in booklet 5. As an extra (just thought of this) we also uploaded some workplace refs to further back up the resume, one of the refs was from HR and confirmed the dates of prior UK employment within it, thus adding an additional backing of the experience required in a field directly relevant to the postion. It all may have helped I guess.
  8. Well at least you know that you may not hear anything at all until the visa is actually granted. I just thought we must have been sat in a big pile somewhere as we'd not heard anything about a case officer allocation etc. I think it must help if your application is straight forward (i.e. meds all ok, police check clear etc).
  9. I'm going to try and work those dates out, now I believe the employer put in for nomination n 5th Sept, and we put our stuff in on the 7th Sept. From recollection the nomination was acknowledged on the 24th Oct, and our side about the 15th Nov. What I would say is the the acknowledged for our side of the application wasn't, or didn't appear to be, an automated one.It provided details of the bridging visa (in case our 457 was running out) and also informed us that we had submitted a valid application. I understand that this means someone has looked at the paperwork just to ascertain that all the necessary documents are there ready for someone to just make a decision. The we herd nothing until the decision email, which it stated it had been granted.
  10. Yes, there is that risk for some. We knew 100 % that our employer wouldn't get refused, hence why everything went in together.
  11. Hi Mark we front loaded all our documents, medicals were taken care of by going to a designated place in Brisbane. We simply told them which visa we were going for and they were able to process things. This is one of the visas they will do the medicals for prior to CO request, as in the 'small print' of preparing the application guidelines it does say to front load everything. We were sent through the paperwork a couple of days later, and were told not to open the envelopes, however this was only to be sent on if there was a problem DIAC accessing the medical centre data base, they clearly wasn't one, we still have those envelopes. The only other thing we did was to add to the visa list of documents that we uploaded on our application the email receipt to show that our meds had been booked, and at which centre. This also provided our ID numbers so the CO could easily look us up on that system. Does that help?
  12. I'm pleased to be able to let you all know that things are moving in the Parramatta office as we were granted our visa yesterday. We went through the direct entry stream. The employer lodged their application the begging of Sept, we put our stuff in two days after that. We got an acknowledgment email for each part around mid October/early Nov. The heard nothing until the visa grant email came through. We were not made aware we had a case officer, and apart from the acknowledgment of a valid application we heard nothing in between submitting out visa and the grant. We are a non-DRC application, however we submitted all the documents as per the DRC list. Our application was done without an agent, so if there are any questions I can answer based on my experience with the process without an agent I am very happy to try and do that. The thing I can't comment on is anything to do with the skills assessment as this was not required due to being on the exempt list. Hopefully other peoples are on their way soon!
  13. Since the July changes it appears no one has been granted pr within weeks. I would say that 5 months minimum is an accurate gauge of how long you can expect to wait....
  14. Are you a non DRC bigjohn? I haven't been bothering to look at the DIAC website, I'm guessing there are no timeline updates or adjustments?
  15. At the moment most people waiting for a case officer for the 186 have been doing so for around 5 months so far.... regardless of which office. Things are not moving anywhere quickly.
  16. Our 'front porch' geckos have names! Taylor and Bob.... although a new third 'friend' has moved in during last couple of days, so we'll need to think of one for that one too. They have distinct features so we're actually able to know whose who! If you don't like them, you won't like this, but I was having a good look at Taylor last weekend, and Bob jumped from slightly above and behind me down on to my head! I squealed more because I wasn't expecting it (made husband laugh), which scared Bob who jumped off and ran away...
  17. Aw bless... people can't help their phobias I suppose, I hope you find a solution before you become an alcoholic! Maybe over time, when you become more used to seeing them, they won't be so bad. That's not to say you will get over it, but learn to live with them, and train your children to do the 'eviction' while you bark orders, in a supervisory capacity, from a safe distance.... with wine!
  18. Hi, yes we got an email which confirmed we had submitted a valid application. I am led to believe, having asked around, that this means the application has been looked over, and checked that all necessary documents are present. But that we are now placed on a pile awaiting a case officer. I would love you to be right!!
  19. I wonder how long the wait may be for non-DRC though. I can't seem to find any new info for that....
  20. Lets hope so! We have had acknowledment letters for both nomination and the visa, confirmation of a valid application and bridging visa (not that our 457 is due to run out for quite some time, so I don't anticipate needing to use this), but thats it so far...
  21. I'd be interested to know more about the upgrade too, what was this for? Will it help all the 186 applications that are currently lodged and waiting quite a while?
  22. Does anyone know what 'valid application recieved' might mean? I know it doesn't mean a CO has been assigned... but has someone looked at it do you think? And at least determined all the necessary documents are present?
  23. DON'T open it!!!! We have the same. DIAC have told us that they will only ask us for this if the info they get forwarded to them from the place we had the medical at is incomplete for any reason. These are the origional forms you have (so we were told) and DIAC said that if they did want them further down the line, they wouldn't accept them if the envelopes were opened by anyone other than themselves. If they don't get asked for, once you have the visa, we were told you can do what you like with them then, but not to open them until the visa was signed and sealed. If they do request them make sure you put them in another envelope and send recorded - so they have to be signed for.
