  1. Is it worth trying an email as per the above while your application is still in the queue? All you'll lose is the time to write an email, and you might get the authorisation back so you can get it sorted before you come to the top of the pile. Although speaking as a July 1st visa-only (nomination already approved) applicant who hasn't been contacted yet despite the automated email messages for the last 2 weeks, the top of the pile still seems a loooooong way away...
  2. Does this help? https://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Form/Immi-FAQs/where-do-i-go-to-get-my-photograph-and-fingerprints-taken Ah, that'll be a no then... https://www.border.gov.au/FAQs/Pages/Does-the-Department-provide-fingerprinting-services-for-police-clearances.aspx
  3. Hey, September people! It looks like someone (@natzsilver) has been a little overexcited in editing the spreadsheet - you might want to pop back in and restore your names in the correct places!
  4. Who is sponsoring your visa application? The company which has nominated you has confirmed in its application that it is prepared to offer you permanent employment, so unless I've got this very wrong, it would not look good to Immi if you flag up that you are now a contractor and not a full time employee. Do you know if your sponsoring company have been contacted for further information about their nomination of you? Mine did, and no-one noticed, for a couple of weeks... If you just want to "check on progress of your visa" however, you should have received an auto response email when you submitted your visa application, mine is from NSW PSE and titled IMMI Acknowledgement of Application Received. At the bottom of each page of the letter attached to that email should be a direct telephone number. I'm NOT saying you should call it, as I know there's been a lot of complaints about people calling direct and delaying things generally, but if you have heard nothing and you know that people have been granted visas from end-June applications, then if I were you I'd give them a call, although do not give them any reason to doubt you're no longer a full time employee and that you're looking for another job. I hope this helps. Good luck!
  5. There is no legal obligation for you to stay with your employer (nor for them to keep you on), your visa is permanent, but I'd be wary about making a move too quickly if you don't have to.
  6. Having said that the nomination approval document does require employers to notify Immi of any change of circumstances, so make sure nothing formal is announced before your visa is through, just in case.
  7. I don't think so unfortunately. Our nomination was approved in May, our visa application was submitted in early July (for reasons beyond our control) and we're still waiting for our application to move from "received" over 4 months later.
  8. They will be processed separately. If you are extremely lucky your visa application might be considered when they look at your nomination (which would be about March), but you might get your nomination then have to wait longer - weeks or months for your visa to come to the top of the pile.
  9. They're processing June applications at the moment (with a few May/July ones thrown in for good measure). Current processing times are about 5 months. There is a tracking spreadsheet so we can track it all - pop your details in and join us in the wait! : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcNOlnXc0F2QgYweRiQUYgH8LOgdmSEn-9rkxTkIlBk/edit?pli=1#gid=0
  10. Yup that's right, employees have to satisfy the training benchmark via route A or B from the date of sponsorship and every year thereafter. But what they need to pay is 2% of everyone's wages, not just yours. Unless you're the only employee, and I'm sure there's a requirement that sponsoring employers should also be employing Aussies.
  11. As in that pdf, your employer should have paid 2% of his total payroll (which includes super etc) into a training fund, for every year they have been a sponsor. That's 2% of everyone's earnings (and extras), including you, not just 2% of your salary.
  12. Hi In order to be able to sponsor you, the training benchmark requires that your employer proves EITHER that they have spent 1% of their total payroll on training for Australian employees each year they have been sponsoring you (ie since your 457 started), OR that they have paid 2% of their total payroll into an appropriate training fund. Does that help?
  13. As far as I know it's up to your company to show that they have spent 1% of payroll on training all their Australian employees for each financial year that they have been sponsoring you. Either that or that they have paid 2% of payroll to a training fund. It's not up to you, and you cannot pay 2% of your wages, that's nothing to do with the training benchmark. I am not sure whether the 2% payment can be done retrospectively. It took me weeks to dig up sufficient training records for my company to be approved - good luck...
  14. My nomination was granted about 3 days after (I) had submitted the extra docs requested by the CO on behalf of my employer. Unfortunately nobody noticed the confirmatory email and I was on extended leave, so wasted 6 weeks when I could have lodged visa application. I was seriously unhappy...
  15. Hi again, You classed my 05 Audi A3 as category B, albeit borderline because of the low mileage, thanks for the info. I've now had it valued at about £6-6.5k here, and am still looking at the high cost of getting something to replace it in Perth. What are the (rough) costs of actually getting it there - your fee ($990?), $1000 workshop costs (is that correct), is there an import permit cost on top? And how much would shipping be, roughly, from the UK to Perth, and would this be in a container or what? Is RoRo actually on the deck of a ship??? And does that take the usual 6-8 weeks to travel therefore we'd be looking at 3 months without the car? Thanks very much.
  16. 1) Year/make/model/mileage/aircon or no aircon 2005 (05 plate) Audi A3 5 door sportback TDi, auto, 55,000 miles, aircon 2) Market value in the UK (be realistic!) £7-8000? 3) Market value in Australia (search via www.redbook.com.au and make sure you click right through to the description to get the correct price ranges - if you don't chances are you're looking at the price it was sold at when it was new) Red book says $16-19k private price. We'd be coming on a 457, if that makes any difference? Cheers..
