  1. I sent off my documents to AHPRA (Perth) on November 27th 2014 and received my letter of eligibility on 12th of January 2015,I was really shocked that it came through so quick.
  2. Hia, we had our medicals last week. We took our passports, they then copied them and took pictures themselves of each member on the application. All the forms are done on-line by the Dr who is completing your assessment so no need to take copies with you ( we did but they weren't needed ). good luck, hope it all goes well. Del
  3. Congratulations. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and quickly for you, and that you'll be Australia bound very soon xx:jiggy:
  4. Hi everyone, just thought I'd mention a small tip when taking the IELTS. I had to do the Academic, and having looked some examples of previous reading samples used, decided to allocate 10 mins for the 1st sample, 15mins for the 2nd and then 20mins for the 3rd (as the last sample is longer and more detailed). This then allowed me a few minutes at the end to do a quick scan of the answer sheet before the allocated time was up, which meant I wasn't rushing at the end. This might not suit everyone but it worked for me. Del x
  5. What i found usefull was for the reading section - spend 10 mins on the 1st, 15 mins on the 2nd and the rest of the time on the third reading sample, as it's longer and more indepth. Try and make notes in the margin and highlight significant points as you go, this will save you having to re-read whole section again. for the written section, keep you anwers simple and concise- intro, main body, conclusion. This worked for me as I managed to get the points that I needed. Del
  6. Hia Kerry We had a good look around Ocean Reef/Mullallo area when we went for a 5 week holiday, and it was really nice. Visited some schools when there and they were really organised and friendly. The houses were really nice and had a great variety of new builds and established estates. Good luck with the IELTS. Got mine in October, which was a great relief. Del x
  7. Hia Kerry, Don't know how much homework your husband has already done, but I just made an effort to do a few practice runs with the writing section just to get a rough idea of my word count etc. When it comes to the reading section (which involves 3 parts) i gave myself 10 mins to do the 1st abstract, 15 mins for the 2nd and 20 mins for the final abstract as it was far more detailed in nature. It shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as he does some time trials - suprising how quickly the time goes when your in the room actually doing it for real Del
  8. Hia Sarah, I managed to do my IELTS last year, had to do the Academic, it was all in one day thankfully, as I know some places run it over 2 days. I found it ok, loads of sample question available, just had to get my head around the idea of writing again under exam conditions. haven't done that for many a year! We loved Joondalup and surrounding areas, as there was everything that my family would need. With regards to the south of Perth CC we loved Secret Harbour - so we just need to see how things pan out. I'm a nurse and my hubby works in the power industry. There seems to be jobs within our areas,. but waiting for our visa's before applying for anything. We decided to opt for the Visa 175 as we weren't sure what state we would opt to settle in, but it must be said that WA was lovely and had the perfect climate for us. So all we have to do now is wait and see how long things take to come through. Del x
  9. Hi We are a family of four (myself 37, Hubby 38 x2 girl 5 & 2). We went to Perth last year for a 5 week holiday, to get a feel for the place and it has to be said we really felt comfortable there, so when we returned to the UK we started our visa application. Done the IELTS and all the necessary paper work needed for the initial part of the process. Really glad to have found this site, now I now that it's perfectly normal to have waves of doubt, even slight panic at the thought of moving to the other side of the world. While we were there we had a look around some of the schools and they were quite impressive. Both our girls loved it and the oldest keeps asking when are we going back. I know it will be hard to leave eveything behind, but I think it's really important to remember why you want to move - for your kids future etc. Not sure if were going to locate north or south of Perth CC, it all depends on job opportunites etc - time will tell - really excited but nervous at the same time!!
