  1. Thanks to all who have contributed here, some good food for thought.
  2. I have dual citizenship, it's never been a problem which passport I use for entering or leaving. Entering the UK on my new Aussie passport for the first time as a "foreigner" was quite fun. Having two choices can help beat the queues too.
  3. Thanks guys. We're traveling in November, staying over there for 6 weeks.
  4. Any hints or tips for getting the best deals? Thanks
  5. PM's XI next week, anyone going?
  6. Anyone know of any other good DVDs of British travel/countryside series? I have; "B road Britain" by Robbie Coltrane. A Picture of Britain" by David Dimbleby Oz and James "Drink to Britain" Oz and Hugh Raise the Bar Martin Clunes "Islands of Britain" Gruff Rhys Jones "Mountain" Hugh Dennis "Great British Countryside". I'm always open for more recommendations!!!
  7. Thanks Melza, just ordered "On The Road with Richard Wilson" from the local library!
  8. Best record stores? https://www.facebook.com/DynomiteRecords Places to see local bands? Few and far between Where to watch Scottish footie? Scottish footie? Where to watch American football? "Bites tongue" Anyone know of a fiddle society? Commonwealth Bank
  9. Just had my godson over from Blighty for a week,he's doing a gap year tour. He went away making the same comment everyone who has stayed with us comes up with; "Canberra is amazing, it's so beautiful, how come no one knows about it?"
  10. Two wrongs don't make a right. And if the government admits 1% of claims are fraudulent, you can bet your bottom dollar that the real figure is closer to 10%! £900 million is a lot of nurses, hospital beds, and old age care. (And that's only the fraud that's caught!
  11. I'd disagree. I think the whole EU experiment has been a failure, thank god we never joined the Euro. Get us out ASAP.
  12. Hopefully they will cause a change in British politics, and start the moves towards exiting Europe.
  13. Getting back to the original discussion, I see that UKIP have had another impressive victory, (and Labour have shot themselves in the foot once more.) All political parties will have to sit up and pay attention now.
  14. Some photos I took at the match here: http://www.fatbeetle.com/galleries/sa%20vs%20aus%2014/index.html
  15. In my defense, "scum bastards" was a direct quote of the person I was replying to.
  16. I will be there, camera and beers at the ready. :ssign19: It should be a cracking match if yesterday's was anything to go by. I've also got tickets for all the world cup matches being played in Canberra, and of course for the T20 Big Bash final. I'm a cricket tragic, obs.
  17. No, what I KNOW is that you have used a vapid cliché, one which does not stand up to a moment's scrutiny, as I proved using quotes from your own links. Now then to your more recent links. Your first one is from January 2013, don't you think politics has moved on some in the nearly two years since that was published? But even so, all it actually tells us is that UKIP are anti-immigration. I don't think anyone is going to be surprised by that revelation. Your second one tells us that the police rounded up a group of beggars on the streets of London, and one was sent home. What did you hope to prove by this? Do you think the police should not round up illegal immigrants, or just that it should not be reported? The same arrests were reported in the ultra-Left-wing Guardian to, so what does that tell us? Does this make it different?
  18. Oh come on now that's just silly and childish. You made a claim about a report and about UKIP. You presented a link to a Google search as evidence Your own links show nothing about UKIP, but do show that the report you credited was erroneous, and that Labour not right-wing were behind the comments you claimed were "Murdoch/Daily Fail dogma"
  19. Ok, from the top; Labour peer, not exactly right wing then? You agreed with this above. Tony Bliar, which party was he a member of? Indeed, just what i said. You're proving me right, thanks for that.
  20. I bow to your superior experience of UKIP philosophy and Murdoch/Daily Fail dogma. I've not seen any examples of it, care to share.
  21. Only half jesting. That report you refer to was busted righteously as ignoring many factors, and basically was a comparison of apples and oranges.
  22. Some one comes to a country with an offer of work, or recognised skills and professional qualifications to offer, and a desire to integrate and support themselves and the country, and to work to pay their way , that is good migration. Someone with no skills, no intent to work but to bluge off the benefits system, and beg on the streets, to not integrate, but to send begging/benefits money out of the country, that is "bad migration." Agreed?
  23. Oh it was only half in jest. Labour under Bliar dropped it's support of the working man and woman, and became the party of the Guardian reading, inner-city, middle-class-guilt-ridden metrosexual. Their emphasis these days is in trying to be the party which is non-judgmental, PC driven, "come on in everyone, free money for all foreigners, no need to work or be British" "none are responsible for anything they do", "criminals are all misunderstood people who have had hard lives and have mental health issues." :chatterbox:
