  1. Hi we aren't bringing beds but would like to bring bedding with us, as its supposed to be very expensive. So please can anyone help with the sizes as the beds are supposed to be different sizes. If I get king size - will this fit the Aussie double? And for single beds what does anyone suggest (although I might just get us all a double). Thanks
  2. This makes me laugh, me and my mate went last May Bank Hol for the afternoon nice meal, few bottles of wine, few pubs and back home on the 8pm train - light weights, I know, but the girls really go for it, if you want to dress up this is the place for glam - I thought I looked alright when I went out but came home feeling a right frump! Well worth it for a weekend, seriously its a fab place, and you will keep going back - they are a friendly lot!
  3. Liverpool is a fab place for the kids, we go all the time as we are half an our away on the train. We always go in school hols, a few of us go with a gang of kids (13 between us)!! So many museums, most are free keep them entertained for hours, shopping is fab, great mix from your run of the mill high street shops to the upper end of the market. Can't get past Hollister shop with our lot!! Loads of lovely restaurants - really so much to do - its clean and safe. Don't hesitate you will have a great time! My neighbour's girl was a student at Liverpool Uni, she won't live anywhere else now. Not sure I'd live there myself, as we are half an hour from Chester and 3/4 a hour from Manchester, so are well placed for all 3 cities, but if there's an opportunity I wouldn't pass it up on the basis of Liverpool's past reputation - its easy to commute to every area has its good and bad places. Wendee has certainly never been - or at least, not recently lol!
  4. Hate to tell you this, but if your occupation is on the CSOL, you cannot get a family sponsor, you can only be sponsored by the state. This means you have to live by the restrictions the State enforces for the 489 visa i.e. you have to live in a regional area. We are in the same position as you, and we have had to do this. If you go onto DIAC and put in 489 visa and then go to the bottom of the page you will find booklet 6, this will show you all the postcodes you have to live in.
  5. Have a look at my timeline, ours came through fairly quickly from getting SS to getting a visa grant. If we had been more organised with the police checks I think it would have been quicker!
  6. Welcome back to the forum Salma, I too have been wondering how you were getting on - so its good to hear an update from you. Very difficult time for you and your family, and yes we do have to cherish what we have, and never forget ones who have passed, I admire your spirit - you have a great attitude. Onwards and upwards lovely lady xx
  7. Thanks for clearing that one up, just gives us a little bit more flexibility, thanks again
  8. Thank you and thanks for your input to my previous posts, helped a lot very appreciated, cheers
  9. Thanks Candygirl, your's can't be long off now, the wording on the grant letter is :- Visa Grant Date 08 March 2013 Initial Stay Date 08 March 2017 Must Make First Entry to Australia Before 14 February 2014 Must Not Arrive After 08 March 2017 Travel Facility Multiple Visa Conditions 8539 - MUST LIVE/WRK/STDY IN RGNL AREA Think I'll double check withe the C/O, just to be sure. Not sure if he will go first, but if he can get a job he may as well go first as I've just got to finish off a 3 month contract. Good luck, everything crossed for you, but sure you will be fine.

I wouldn't bother either, I stressed about this, as my agent said fill it in and upload it just in case, but we got a C/O so quickly -I didn't get chance to pre-load it. I did sort of fill it in though just in case. I'm sure I even checked the list of docs for the 489 and I'm pretty sure it isn't on it. C/O didn't request it. We got the grant yesterday, do I don't think you need to worry too much about it. Good luck and hopefully it won't be too long now.
  11. Looking at flights this weekend Madcow, campers international - bring it on!!
  12. So sorry to hear this, it really is a hard process, so many setbacks. Keep you chin up and come join the 489 gang! At least if you occupation is on the Sol 1, and you've got a family sponsor you will be fine, I'm sure. I know £2K is a lot of money, but hey onwards and upwards! Only the most determined survive this process!!
  13. As of yesterday, we are now the proud owners of a 489 visa!! Very excited, but what we want to know now is do we all have to enter at the same time, or OH go first (he's the main visa holder), and us to follow? Will the case officer be able to give us this information? It doesn't say anything on the visa grant. If anyone knows where I can find out the info, please could you let us know. Many thanks:smile:
  14. Also, for those of you sourcing boxes have a look at Kilby packaging, I've used them loads of times for work - they are very good. http://www.kilby.co.uk/packaging-products/cardboard-boxes-and-corrugated-cases/single-wall-corrugated-boxes
  15. Can you let us know how you get on with the movecube? We too are now thinking this is the way to go, as Ikea don't seem to be much more expensive than here when I've priced things, beds a kitchen table etc, and the price of shipping is so flipping expensive! May still take the car roll on roll off though!
  16. We had a lovely chap round from John Masons and I'll let you know what he advised. His top tips were:- Don't pack anything whatsoever in plastic, as clothes etc have moisture so will sweat with the variants of temperatures and possibly cause mildew. He advised against vacuum bags too. He also said if you pack things in drawers make sure you have an airflow around, so don't pack to tightly. With regard to cleaning he said do not use Jeyes fluid, as you won't get rid of the smell, instead clean the soles of you your shoes with milton as it doesn't smell and Zoflora for everything else as it has a more pleasing smell than Jeyes and will wear off in time its also a disinfectant so just as good a Jeyes. With regard to your boxes, I'd just make sure you tape the bottom up well with packing tape so it holds together well. I've shipped loads of stuff to USA for work like this loads of archives and they only went DHL by handball and they got there fine and they were pretty heavy and survived. Taping really strengthens the boxes. Hope this helps.
  17. Lucky you getting a date in Blackburn we wanted either that or Preston, but had to go to London, so we decided to stay over and I had a look around London whilst he did assessment - I was at Buck Palace for 8.15 in morning!! It was an early start! Good luck with the assessment, sure he'll be fine.
  18. Go to settings at the top of the page and then to the left of the screen edit signature. Good news on the assessment - well done that was quick! What occupation is your OH?
  19. Yep, good idea to e-mail. There are pretty efficient and do answer you fairly quickly, we messed them about a few times over doing the practical assessment and I have to say they were very accommodating, they let us cancel one, and change another date we booked. Totally our fault as we kept getting cold feet, I found them to be good tbh. Either Mandurah or Bunbury. Ideally Mandurah as I have family there, so it would be easier, but will go where we can get work really. I haven't been to Bunbury though, but it looks lovely. What about yourself, where are you hoping for?
  20. I'm glad its not just me then, I don't normally comment on such things, but that really gets my goat, when I looked at the guys profile he has also sent the same post to about 6 other people too. It was a while ago when we did Vetassess, but I'm pretty sure that when you log into the website it will show as 'received or in progress' when they get your info. If not did you track your documents, if so maybe worth just checking with them. Good luck, all you seem to do is wait for one thing or another .......
  21. Sorry, I can't help you with that. Its up to you to find yourself a job - you cannot pay someone to give you an offer letter, that's migration fraud I'm afraid! In fact this post really annoys me, people on here have worked extremely hard to get their visa's through the proper channels, why should you think you can pay someone so you can get yours illegally? Or have I got it wrong?
  22. Yep, seems it is - check out the link below - it says so! Good news for all us 489ers! http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/migration-issues/10409-working-limitation-475-visa-holders-wa.html
  23. Thanks for that Quoll, I though that might be the case. My two probably aren't uni material, so probably will be going down the vocational route - so hopefully if we did come back they would have no problems getting onto a course of their choice. I'm not putting them down, but its horses for courses and just don't think Uni will be for them. To be honest neither of mine so far have thrived in their UK Primary school, but I think that is probably down to the school, excellent in some areas but very lacking in others. I'm hoping the Aus system may suit them more - but time will tell. Thanks for your input.
  24. Hi Karen, yes if you apply for your EOI, it will ask on the EOI if you need SS (somewhere, can't remember now), as stated above, you will be awarded the 10 points even though you have not actually applied. As soon as your EOI reads 60 points, then you can apply for WA SS, think mine took about a month both times. As soon as you accept your SS, they automatically invite you if you are on a 489, within minutes/hours in fact. Hope this clears it up for you - its is confusing.
