  1. OK hope someone can help us Submitted EOI and WA sponsorship approved last month, got our invite to apply for the 489 state sponsored visa. Went ahead and started filling in the application and filled in the employment history just as we did on the EOI, we are claiming for 5 years experience (post qualification). We did this guessing dates before 2010 because of no documents to hand to go off. Because we couldn't find any wage slips etc for 1st 2 years that we're claiming for (apart from a reference which includes start date in 2007 but no finish date) we contacted HMRC for employment history records, which shows we've made a slip up year 2009-2010 We've missed out another electrical company that he worked for from July 2009 - Jan 2010, we just put down the 1st company he worked for through 2007 - July 2010, from July 2010 he's worked for himself (plenty of documents to prove from July 2010). I know it seems like a big gap to get wrong but we did a bit of travelling too before he went self employed. So the problem now being should we change the employment history on DIAC application that corresponds to the tax records that we now have and write a statement about the mistake?! We're not over claiming points because he has still worked as a qualified electrician through that period but just not at the company we put on the EOI. sorry for the mammoth post but got the money & documents ready to submit, just don't want to fall at the last hurdle and want to be honest with DIAC. Thanks - See more at: http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/migration-issues/14400-help-1-year-wrong-employment-history-eoi-already-submitted.html#post87766
  2. Thanks, that's exactly what we were thinking, it's a lot of money to lose if we get it wrong, not just that but risk the application altogether! I'll talk him around to trying the IELTS, it's worth a shot if means we can apply for the 190. Like you say always got the 489 to fall back on. thanks for reassurance on that question
  3. My partner and I are getting ready to submit our EOI and are a little confused over the points for overseas employment. My partner is an Electrician, he's been qualified 5 years but has worked in this trade for 8 years. When completing past employment history it's awarding him 15 points because he's worked in his nominated skill or a closely related occupation for 8 years. But my question is that I only calculated 10 points into it because I'm going off how many years qualified not experience. These 5 points make the difference between a 190 or 489 visa, I don't want to end up lodging an application for a 190 visa if he doesn't get awarded the 15 points for 8 years experience?! Does anyone know if points get awarded for POST qualification only, or if its for years experience if documents can be provided for those years?! Or do we just go down the safe route and apply for a 489? Thanks ) * He doesn't want to do the IELTS
  4. Cannot believe this is happening but after my OH got an unsuccessful result back in May we've received his certificate to say its been approved! It's been a very random time for us, to cut a long story short...... 1st stage paper documents submitted and approved February, practical assessment done in March, hellish wait until mid May to say he had failed (just on one unit). Sent off for the review to find out why they failed him straight away, after countless e-mails chasing them up we got the e-mail today to say its all now been approved with his certificate attached and to say they've posted original to us on Tuesday!! Can't tell you how happy we are! We were expecting to get a reply on the review, book a resit at a cost of $880 and sit anxiously waiting the result of that! They've obviously looked at his assessment and decided that failing him on that particular unit wasn't worth an overall fail as they was no explanation?! He woke me up at 2.30am today to show me the email, I thought I'd dreamt it when I woke up for work this morning! we can finally start to move on with the rest of the process, but 1st will have to go through all of our research again to brush up on it all after we nearly gave up!
  5. Will just have to wait until we receive the review on where he went on that unit and take it from there. I just wish they could have let us know the result sooner than 2 months!
  6. Thanks I've read up on Vetassess unsuccessful outcomes and it states that the parts failed only need to be attempted again. So once we know exactly why he was failed on that unit he'll have to take it as a learning experience and revise that section hard. I doubt Vetassess will reconsider the result when they will be charging us 800AUD for him to re-sit one unit!! Naffed off but such is life! At least we have a week in Egypt to look forward to (not that we can afford it now LOL)
  7. So after waiting 2 months for my OH's results for his practical exam, UNSUCCESSFUL!! He's passed on all units apart from ONE UNIT! It was a one of the problem solving units, I feel so bad for him. We've sent a review form off straight away to see where he went wrong on that ONE unit  Is there anyway we can appeal to them to reconsider seeing as he passed everything else and got a level 1 successful pass on the document evidence?? It just seems a bit harsh :-/ Will he need to re-sit the whole practical or just the section that he failed on? We're so gutted, going on holiday Sunday I hope it can cheer us up. He also had his power tools stolen from his van Monday evening after working his backside off all bank hol weekend. Not a good week :-((
  8. Hi all, I know I only posted 2/3 weeks ago asking how long others have waited until receiving Vetasses results, but..... It's now been over 5 weeks for us and status on Vetassess login showing still 'in progress'. I emailed them yesterday morning but not had a reply as yet. My poor OH is getting really anxious and is thinking the worst  Hoping some of you can tell me that you've waited just as long for a pass result to make me feel better :cute: Thanks
  9. My OH is an electrician and had his paper assessment / qualifications results confirmed 2 days after receiving them, which I thought was extremely quick! It took nearly 2 weeks for them to confirm receipt of the documents though. Nearly 8 weeks seems a ridiculous amount of time to be waiting. Have you emailed or telephoned to chase them up? We're now waiting on OH's result for his practical assessment which was 3 weeks ago.
  10. Hi My OH did his practical assessment for electricians at Blackburn College on the 11th March and we're still waiting for his results. I'm sure that I read somewhere that results are e-mailed after 10 days. It's now day 15 of waiting and we're becoming more anxious by the day, checking vetassess status online daily!! Just thought I'd ask you guys what your experience was waiting for results before I chase them up with an e-mail or phone call. Thanks P.S Can you believe it's still snowing?! :twitcy:
  11. Thanks mattybe, I thought that maybe the case. He's going to give the IELTS a go,he's worried it'll be too hard! Being a tradesman he's not confident about it, but it's worth a shot.
  12. My OH has his Vetassess practical exam tomorrow (he's an Electrician) so we're busy getting all of his paperwork etc together. Fingers crossed he will be successful then we can submit our EOI in the next few weeks! My question is regarding the points you are awarded for overseas employment, my OH has been an electrician for 8 years but qualified for 5 years out of those 8. Would he be awarded the max 15 points for working in his nominated skilled occupation for 8 years or will it be from when he qualified 5 years ago? This would be the difference in 5 points, ideally we want to apply for the 190 visa, if we're short on points will have to apply for the 489. I am starting to finally get my head around all this visa stuff then I end up questioning myself with all sorts!!! haha Thanks for your help
  13. Thanks Taylors ) My OH is a self employed electrician. Got the acknowledgment email yesterday and the succesful pass update email today!!! Decided to bite the bullet and booked on the next practical assessment, it's in Blackburn, only 20 mins away from us! Fingers crossed he'll pass then save up for the next stage, the visa!! I'll have a go at the signature tomorrow, I'm on my iPhone tonight. Thanks again
